Scubacarrot Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I'm pretty sure the ??? is the Cloak of the Red Assassin...? Well no, Apparantly it was the 3 nostrums and the 2 orders. You forgot to drop the stuff from the cook and the shrooms by the way, Zepher. Being in a Zepher quest is it's own reward It's true, that I'm complaining doesn't mean I'm unhappy, let's just say I have a lot to say when the quest is over. Quote
Palathadric Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 So many vultures out there! We have to beat the guys to get their stuff! Won't be easy! No worries. You take care of the beating them, we'll take care of splitting their stuff. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 It's all up to the QM of course. If it were me. I'd allow it, after giving a warning, but I'd make it a really hard fight with little reward to win. I think people will not keep doing it, simply because it serves no purpose, and takes a lot of time, without moving the quest along. Real simple, Special Damage that permanently reduces a hero's level. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Real simple, Special Damage that permanently reduces a hero's level. That's probably the greatest idea. If heroes get experiance for doing heroic, kind deeds, then they could lose some for doing something evil. Quote
CMP Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I had an idea for something less extreme, like a WP reduction. Permanent reduction of a level is a little too much. Quote
swils Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 No, no. No permanent level reductions. It's very simple. If the heroes mercilessly slaughter an innocent civilian, or attack a member of the town guard, etc, then they will find themselves under arrest by other members of the town guard in due time. They then have to pay bail! No one wants to lose gold! Quote

Though I haven't seen any of this happen, so I don't know why I brought it up. Quote

They can risk it and try to take down the riot squad dispatched to subdue these heroes-turned-ruffians, or just pay up and not risk failing the quest. Quote

Riot-Squad like enemies. Hmm... good idea. *scribble scribble* Quote
Rumble Strike Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Yep, that's what I did in Quest#52. Riot squads. Quote

Endgame Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 This is where things begin to get dicey, 79ers. Quote
CMP Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Karie, Johon, and Althior sift through the spoils of war, when they see the black plasm from the king beginning to slither... The scattered, goopy remains of the beast gather into a large blob, the inky mass rising into the air as it reforms. Tentacles sprout from the blob and hang lazily in the air, a bright glowing yellow eye shining from within its cloudy body. The Death Progg, the Eye of Sauron....is this Quest just a gallery of miniature superbosses? Quote
Endgame Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 The Death Progg, the Eye of Sauron....is this Quest just a gallery of miniature superbosses? Technically, The "Eye of Sauron" was "Mini Death Progg", or masquerading him, at any rate. When Mr. Yellow Eyeball got ticked, he let his true eye color shine through / let a word slip, and that damaged the charade. Nothing he could do about bleeding black plasm instead of blood, however. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Technically, The "Eye of Sauron" was "Mini Death Progg", or masquerading him, at any rate. He said we've seen the "Eye of Sauron", he didn't say anything about the "Mouth of Sauron". Quote
Rumble Strike Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I do love a good moral dilemma at the end of a Quest. This is great stuff from everyone in Quest#75, I am enjoying the speeches immensely. What's great is that Tarn now has a lot of Heroica experience to draw from when he's making his decision, and it's nice to be able to factor that in. Quote
Palathadric Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I do believe it's impossible to go on an Endgame or Zepher quest without: 1: getting a headache 2: giving them a headache I love the latter. ...the former...not so much. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 It's interesting to note that in almost every single situation in which a rebel group has tried to overthrow the government and setup something new, heroes have almost always landed on the side of the established government in the end: Dastan, Council of the Blue Hand, Haddon, Duplova, and the 6 Houses. I think the only time the party has sided with the rebels is in Charis. Part of me wonders if it's all psychological in that none of the Heroes have ever had a chance to experience the "atrocities" committed by the currently ruling powers and thus never take the rebels seriously. Quote
Endgame Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Charis was more begging for mercy then anything, really. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Not sure if in any of those scenarios that the rebels presented themselves as a better alternative to the establishment. Quote
Endgame Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Also: For Wolfgang VS The Houses... I don't think many, if any, heroes would be too inclined to side with the Wolfgang over the houses at this point in the story. Their lackies have been portrayed as thugs, and the higher-ups haven't been shown to be plenty destructive as well. The three generals were just pawns, Baba is clearly evil, and Ulric seems to be little better. Quote
