Chromeknight Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 OOC: Spag doesn't want to fight Arthur, since he's a plant the Ice would take him down quick. :P Actually, it wouldn't. Heroes aren't classified the same way as enemies are, for convienience sake. All heroes are vulnerable to darkness and that's it. It was ruled that way to save QMs from headaches regarding different Heroes and to stop the possibilty of someone gaming the system to be immune to (or at least less vulnerable to) elemental attacks. Of course if you're in the hall and mock-fighting you can do whatever you please (as long as you don't break the furniture!) but it'd be Sprag's call whether he took extra damage, not the caster's. This brings up a general observation about player vs player roleplayed combat and politeness. It's ok to narrate an attack on someone, but it's poor form to narrate the effect, especially if it involves injury. Just as you'd never (well, very rarely) speak for another character or narrate their speech, so narrating their actions is also impolite. Remember, we're building a shared world here. Now for a completely random question. To all. Is there Christmas in Eubric/The Free Islands/The Heroica world? Why/Why not? Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Just to clarify, free hits also take armor into account correct? Quote
Zepher Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I am under the impression that they do. Did I mess something up... Also: I know we've covered this, but I can't recall the answer. Do hastened people take two free hits since they appear twice on the line-up? Quote

Do hastened people take two free hits since they appear twice on the line-up? I thought hastened just meant you took two actions in the space of your turn on the lineup, not that you were actually listed twice. So I'd say just one hit, but my word is far from the final say, heh. Quote
Zepher Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 That's what I'd assume, but I think the question has been asked before, so I want to make sure I'm being consistent. Quote

OOC: Forgetting to label OOC is a pet peeve of mine. And there's too much OOC in the Heroica Hall Topic. A personal Pet Peeve of mine. We have a discussion thread for a reason! Quote

Do hastened people take two free hits since they appear twice on the line-up? I thought that armor was accounted for as well, but wanted to make sure just in case before I went ahead with the strategy for the next round. After a quick search through discussion thread, there hasn't been anything said about Hastened heroes taking two free hits, I would assume they don't as the hastened effect only effects their actions not the enemies. However they would take a second hit if there were enough enemies to go through the order twice. Quote
Zepher Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I gotta compliment you WBD, even for just the first battle. Your battle orders are always well thought out and your plans are sound. We'd probably all have an easier time if everyone played like you, you use your party/items well. Skrall is a new favorite character. It's too bad that some of my favorite characters are the ones that Boomingham is prejudice against... Quote

Do hastened people take two free hits since they appear twice on the line-up? Yes they should take two hits in the battle order. It's like having an extra party member. Not fair to the NPCs. Party leader should split up player's attacks to prevent hastened player from getting hit twice in a row. Battle Order Player A *Hastened* Player B Player C Player A *Hastened* Player D etc Quote

Battle Order Player A *Hastened* Player B Player C Player A *Hastened* Player D etc I don't quite see the unfairness towards NPC's but if that's the way we're doing it then that is fine with me. I'll adjust the battle order accordingly. Quote

I would have thought that any unfairness to enemies would be balanced out by the second attack's opportunity to trigger damage or special damage again... Quote
Jebediahs Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 In my quest a hastened player attacking twice in a row got hit twice in a row by free hits. There's no official rule so do what you want until there is one. Quote
Tanma Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 .Is there Christmas in Eubric/The Free Islands/The Heroica world? Why/Why not? I would guess that there is a Winter Solstice of some sort. Quote
Etzel Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I would guess that there is a Winter Solstice of some sort. I think Sandy mentioned that Elphaba's wagon would be in the Marketplace from Samhaim to the beginning of Yuletide, can't find that post at the moment though. So that would be the equivalent to Christmas in Eubric I believe. Quote
Sandy Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Aaaah, so much to take in! And I was only absent for a day... Thank goodness it's weekend again! Sorry if I've missed some of your questions. I just had to wade through so many pages of posts... How does the Ranger Shield (Triple Shot) work when there less then three targets in the battle? Does all of the arrows goes to the only enemies left or only one of them? Edit: After some detective work I found it. All arrows are directed to the remaining targets. e.g. if one enemy is left all the arrows and damage will hit it. Yes, that's exactly right. Rangers do not waste arrows. Sandy, it's OK to add a picture to an item that you own that did not have a picture before. Of course it's okay! Hate to be a party pooper, but is battling using the combat systems aloud in the Hall thread? I can't stop the steamtrain from rolling on, but there's been plans of a "player versus player" topic for some time. Once it is published, I wish that people will take their battles there. After all, how can the QMs find any sign-ups if the Heroica Hall is cluttered with battle scenes. As I have not battled C just yet I can target D due to a strategic suggestion. Unless declaring a target also has to stick, not just engaging them in battle. Sandy? Yes, you can change targets before you attack. Once you've attacked an enemy, you cannot change onto another target until that enemy is dead. Even if you get knocked out and then revived, you will continue targetting the same enemy. I thought hastened just meant you took two actions in the space of your turn on the lineup, not that you were actually listed twice. So I'd say just one hit, but my word is far from the final say, heh. A hastened hero can either attack twice in a row or separate their turns. Quote

Kadabra Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 "Well, whatta ya say, Thothy? Hop the fence now, or should we maybe take Bluto back to our friends before we go and get all ninja-y?" Remember the flower only blooms at night, so "getting all ninja-y" now wouldn't do you any good, but might get you into a load of trouble. Quote

Well, no one said we can't be ninja's in the daylight! Although, I just woke up and may have missed a scene-description by Sandy about the sun starting to set, or some such... going back to re-read the post, now Quote

Also, I'm pretty sure you have to state that you're going to wait for daybreak/nightfall before time passes. Quote
Jebediahs Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 *Blessed* - the target has 50% chance of being healed with 3 health in the end of every round. The effect will last over the next battle. Cool effect, Etzel. Quote

Hrm, first the description of the dream sailor class and the weapons it can use, and now an important detail about one of the quest items. I really need to start reading back a few pages before I post XD Quote
