Bricksandparts Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) I honestly wouldn't be surprised is that was the case. Edited September 25, 2013 by Bricksandparts Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Do the followers of Ennoc (and other members of the Pantheon) believe in an afterlife? Anyone? I don't think anything was really said on the subject, but the angels come from somewhere, and so do demons. There definitely is some kind of hell system that people believe in. I personally think a pretty cool way of thinking about it is: Bad people go to hell, Good people get to rest. Quote

And without trying to bring too much religion into the topic (I'm not saying whether this is a good thing or a bad thing for people or characters to believe.), the setting of Heroica compared to the real world and the inspirations of Heroica from the real world are such that you'd expect many different groups of most people to have some sort of belief in the afterlife, too. CMP Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I want to go on a CMP quest so badly. I'm so conflicted - how do I finish up a story while also getting to be hosted by all the QMs I want to be hosted by. I want to continue this BD story, finish Strivvi, pursue Baba, I'm longing for another WBD quest, and I REALLY want to be hosted by CMP and Kintober and I think Flipz has one in the works that would appeal to me. But yes, that party looks fantastic. Thalion is an awesome character. And we have Guts and Hybros together. AND Guts and Maurice together. I'm really glad I get to have Thalion again (first repeat player, too ) and obviously it'll be fantastic to have Guts and Hybros, as well as Maurice to temper all the roguishness going on. But I'd love to host Boomingham at some point, too. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Alright, who's got some Shadeaux rep? Since I'm breaking the Hinckwell's hearts with getting Shadeaux rep, I might as well try to win the Shadeaux's daughter's hand in marriage? Haha! Quote

Yeah, In this aspect, Heroica is like real-life. You get all kinds of beliefs and faiths, plus the fair number of ignoramuses who try and tell others what to or not to believe in. It makes things more realistic. For one: the Norse (Heroicia, not real) culture has a very ingrained afterlife belief, to the point that much of a Nord's life is spent trying to make enough of an impact to be allowed into Valhalla. Of course, for the Dwarven Norsemen, fighting a tree is usually enough to grant that. Quote
Etzel Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Do the followers of Ennoc (and other members of the Pantheon) believe in an afterlife? Anyone? I don't think I've brought that topic up in my Paladin quests but believing that certain righteous and honourable people could earn the privilege of becoming angels after their death is something that would fit well. Duvors Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) Throlar has some idea of an afterlife, like all Titaan dwarves he thinks that his soul goes to whatever afterlife they deserve (as decided by Thoric) wile his earthly remains are returned to Oleg's forge to be reused in the forging of a new generation. Brickdoctor Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Docken doesn't care what afterlife he believes in as long as it gives him the best stat bonus. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Hybros (Or Jimb) is really forgetful, he quested with both Thalion and Maurice before. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Reading the entries for Quest#44 in the NPC Index, it still astounds me how much work Sandy has put into creating the past and present of Olegaia, and how strands of story are so successfully weaved together. Just incredible. Quote

Just incredible. Thanks! Just don't think I had all of that in my mind when I started this game two years ago. A lot of it has come along on the way, and I've sort of "connected the dots" between the new stuff and what I originally had planned. Quote

A lot of it has come along on the way, and I've sort of "connected the dots" between the new stuff and what I originally had planned. I'm still impressed that you and I came up with the idea of the Pandemonicon independently, at the same time, without any communication whatsoever. Quote

As the creator of the god: I don't think Riktvard (this is his most common name, correct name. Haldor's use of Thoric is much more of a local thing.) would take an interest in dwarves, unless they were Norse or somehow impressed him (voice-in-the-head type contact, as with Haldor. I prefer not to have characters actually speak with gods, as that's just a great big cliché, and it's unfair to make one's character some kind of demi-god. Haldor believes that Thoric/Riktvard communicated with him, that's all.) Dwarves do have an important place in Norse mythology (both real and Heroican), but Thoric is not directly involved with them unless something causes his intervention - which in unlikely. I'm not sure that the dwarven gods have been established at all, but Oleg seems to be their type of thing. Quote
Zepher Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Yes, Sandy is the master. Okay, I'm going to assume that followers of Ennoc believe in a Paradise. It's for a quest well down the line (as always ) but never the less, it will be important. Every time I predict how many quests I have left before a finale, my head hurts. I'm hoping to pound out THREE before the end of the year, and then there will only be Guffington III and Russel III before I'm ready.... Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 The Metasimians (well, the followers of Orang Pendek at any rate) believe in reincarnation, so they don't really have a concept of Heaven/Hell. Alright, who's got some Shadeaux rep? Since I'm breaking the Hinckwell's hearts with getting Shadeaux rep, I might as well try to win the Shadeaux's daughter's hand in marriage? Haha! Zepher does! Quickly, get back to the Hall and sign up for it! I'm faced with the possibility of a Hinckwell supporter and a Witch, I need back up! Quote
Zepher Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) Hoke, come back! I'll expand the requirements from 3 to 4 people and then we'll really have fun. EDIT: I'm just kidding, sadly. I need that three person party so that we can play around with a swing vote. Edited September 25, 2013 by Zepher Quote

Sandy Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 I'm not sure that the dwarven gods have been established at all, but Oleg seems to be their type of thing. From the library topic: OLEG the Creator Some myths name him the forger of the world, while others say he is the inventor of inanimate objects. He is also associated with the earth and the underground. His symbols are the hammer, the flame and the golem. Many myths are told of the legendary artefacts crafted by Oleg. He is naturally the patron deity of smiths, architects and artisans, and his worship is concentrated to their workshops. He is known by the dwarves and gnomes as Orrik, the Earth Father. Quote
CMP Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Shoot, where's Cronk when you need to make an anagram look difficult? Quote
