Scubacarrot Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 It just occurred to me Guts is the youngest hero in the party right now. That's just ridiculous. I never realized Maurice was that old, nor does Hybros come over as that old... It can be like the Expendables, you know, Old men blowing stuff up and having fun. I mean, the Guild is a bomb supplier, I personally think all Guild of Invision quests should have at least 2 photoshopped explosions in it. Quote

Sandy Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 I've read the library topic, but I prefer Oleg because it's an anagram of LEGO. Well, there's nothing stopping dwarves and gnomes who have assimilated into the culture in the surface to call their gods different names than their underground-dwelling brethren. Quote
Duvors Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Well, there's nothing stopping dwarves and gnomes who have assimilated into the culture in the surface to call their gods different names than their underground-dwelling brethren. Throlar is an ambassador and as such spends most of his time on the surface.By way of continuing this conversation, does anybody have any creation myths? Quote
Zepher Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 There have been many. As myths, there is really no limit to how many there can be. Or, at least I think there have been many. Quote
Scorpiox Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 By way of continuing this conversation, does anybody have any creation myths? Again, this varies quite a lot with the respective gods. Quote
Duvors Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I asked because I have one myself, but it's rather long-winded so I don't know wether to write it here or in the library topic. Quote

For which god/belief system/culture is it for? If it is irrelevant to your character, you may want to just have Byblos 'find' a document about it in the library. Quote
Endgame Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 There is a story on (one) of the origins of lie from 79: "The Lifespark is Mother Danab's greatest gift to her dear children... But also their ultimate undoing. As the centuries turned into millenniums, and millenniums into eons, one by one Mother Danab's children left her. Despite her pleading and protesting, before long, all of her children had abandoned the goddess. All but a few. These last few children of Danab sought to take advantage of their mother's immense grief, manipulating her to gain the power they so craved. In their sorrow, they asked for but one gift: The ability to create life of their own. Danab, in her grief and desperation to keep her remaining kin by her side, agreed to fulfill her children's request; but her power alone would not be enough to create such a potent object. Seeing the obvious pain the goddess was in, the rest of the pantheon agreed to help Mother Danab in forging the Lifespark. It all started with a single ember. Mercuito gave the spark his gift of cunning and desire for wealth, attributes that all living creatures have in one way or another; Ennoc added a sense of right and wrong, bestowing his gift upon the growing ember. Neron and Neredice ceased their feuding long enough to impart their knowledge of the seas to the spark; Sylvania, knowledge of nature. Centurus gave the spark and whatever was to be born from it the ability to adapt to the ever changing seasons. Together, Amedea and Melodion gave beauty to expanding flame. Fabula Sibylla imbued the powers of dreams and visions into the now large ember. Ethereth, in a dazzling blast of mutli-colored light, infused the power of ether into both the spark and whatever was created from it. Tarok gave the Spark the power of instinct, knowing blood must be shed for a species to thrive - and, despite their differences, Helvetia agreed to banish the chilling winds away from the flame, so that the Lifespark may burn eternally. With all of the gods' and goddesses' gifts bestowed upon the flame, Oleg tempered the Spark and the enormous power that dwelled within it - and, with his final touch, turned the small spark into a billowing pillar of fire. Thus, the Lifespark was born. Mother Danab soon presented the Lifespark to her offspring, her children by the gift. Experimentation with the mighty flame began almost instantly, the mortals trying to temper the flames of the Lifespark as soon as they received it. Joy turned to despair and disgust when the mortals realized that the flame was too powerful for them to control. Many were consumed and devoured by the inferno, unable to control the divine power infused into the flame. Now thinking of their blessing as a horrid curse, they blamed Mother Danab, saying that her gift was nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to end their lives. Now disenchanted with their mother, the last of Danab's children abandoner her. In her rage she unleashed death, hunger, and sickness upon those who had abandoned her. In her fury she sealed the Lifespark away, locking it's power so her children may never see their gift ever again. Fury soon melted into despair as Mother Danab realized what horrors she had inflicted upon her children... And the Lifespark has remained hidden since that fateful day." Quote

Rumble Strike Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Am loving the party dynamic in Quest#82 already. I know from experience that Guts and Maurice love to snipe at each other verbally the whole time. Quote

But totally agree on the explosions. Quote
Palathadric Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 plus the fair number of ignoramuses who try and tell others what to or not to believe in. Hey! Don't think Pretzel can't hear you. Quote
Endgame Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) CMP, how did Dreygur's Arrogant Prick not do damage? Derp, he's blinded, my bad. Edited September 25, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Palathadric Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Hmm...Hybros doesn't know yet that Guts helped to kill Reno, does he? I wonder if Maurice would be pleased? Quote
JimBee Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Hybros (Or Jimb) is really forgetful, he quested with both Thalion and Maurice before. Yes, I forgot about Maurice's and Hybros' arguments and dynamic from Quest 15, and about Thalion on 44. Although the party was huge for the latter and they didn't really talk, and in Hybros' defense both Maurice and Thalion look very different from when he first met them. And yes, I've always regretted making Hybros so old. I could say that it would be like the elves, and that maturity comes at a much later age than in humans, but imps are shorter-lived than humans. It also leaves a lot of blank space for his past with which I've done close to nothing. Quest 82 is flying by! Post coming soon. Quote
CMP Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Hope you like this picture, because you'll be seeing nothing but variations on it for the rest of the Quest. Quote
-obelix- Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) @CMP: I would like to continue talking to the NPCs, and ask a random dwarf something, but its 5AM here, and I have to get some sleep, but I dont want to start a conversation and leave it hanging... So I'll guess, here applies the famous: "to be continued..." Edited September 26, 2013 by -obelix- Quote

Vash the Stampede Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 CMP, how did Dreygur's Arrogant Prick not do damage? Derp, he's blinded, my bad. One day I will be rich and imbue something with immune to blindness. For such a basic affect its really being a pain. No need to jack up levels to make enemies hard. Just stick an effect that most of the party isn't immune to in the sp damage section and you're good to go. Quote
Zepher Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I actually do have a speech and plan prepared for 77 now. Quote

-obelix- Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 A small explanation for readers of Thalions posts: I use this color and brackets to indicate Thalion's internal monologue and thoughts. I get that some people who read what we do on quests dont care about that sort of thing, but I like it as I fell it gives more color to a character... Aside from that, I have no problem answering the question on #82 JimB, since I imagine Hybros saw Thalion's expressions and body language, and guessed what he was thinking even if he cannot read his thoughts per se...
