Waterbrick Down Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) Wow, who could have ever guessed you would say something like that? It'll take a great amount of time and gold to buy nine gems and imbue them into the weapon, especially with the new stealing mechanic. If someone is willing to go through the trouble, he or she has definitely earned the weapon. I probably won't be taking him or her to any of my quests after that, though. Actually all it takes is 500 Gold (easily obtained for 50 GP), a garnet (easily obtained in another month or so) and Hoke will have it. I hope you're kidding about the last part though. Sandy Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Hm. I think you are overestimating the effort it'd take, keep in mind there are three people that already imbued some stuff with all gems, and others that also have most gems, especially with Elpheba right around the corner. It's your call, of course. Oh, it seems Elphaba has suddenly lost her entire stock of gems... Quote
Endgame Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Oh, it seems Elphaba has suddenly lost her entire stock of gems... What about everyone else in Heroica? Seriously, though, I don't think someone should be penalized for using a drop to its full potential. Besides, upgrading a weapon from 80 to 81 would cost 810 gold... Comparable to how much it'd cost to imbue every gem, ant that is just for 1 upgrade. Quote

Scubacarrot Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Hey I'm not ruining anything. I'm sceptical, but I'm not saying it should be nerfed. I'd just get shouted at again! Quote

CMP Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Conspirator much? Conspirator was overpowered. And I wouldn't've been able to afford it if it was still WP: 25. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Conspirator much? What are you saying? Sandy decided to nerf that after I voiced my concerns. I think it was the right decision, and it also was most likely a drop I would have gotten had it not been nerfed, so whatever? Quote
JimBee Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 The Great Rogue Nerf of '013. Oh, gold stealing. I thought there was some way your items could get permanently stolen by enemies because of some new mechanic. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 No one has said Hoke is getting the weapon though. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Conspirator was overpowered. Now you're just being silly! No one has said Hoke is getting the weapon though. Where's that rolled up newspaper.... Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Looks like it's time to throw the mace in the air and see who it rolls to this time. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Apparantly people don't like it and start shouting at me when I point out flaws in drops, battles or mechanics, and people take it as me trying to wrong them instead of what I hope to be doing, improving the game. So I'm not going to do that anymore, but I think I should still be able to voice scepticism towards things. Quote
JimBee Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Now you're just being silly! Says you... Where's that rolled up newspaper.... Rolled Up Newspaper (WP:1, suitable to Hoke, must be equipped at all times, cannot be sold or dropped, is automatically the weapon that Enchantment upgrades). Quote
Endgame Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I'm not overly fond of the club either, to be honest. (Literally the only weakness it has is that it cannot damage ethereal enemies, and even then thats the rarest enemy type). WP: 81 is ridiculous, especially for something so easily achievable even now. Quote
CMP Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Now you're just being silly! Maybe it's not so overpowered a few months later since we're all still levelling up, gaining experience, and upgrading weapons, but at the time it had the potential to be one of the most overpowered weapons in the game, yes. I don't feel like the Crystal Mace is all that bad. You have to pour 1800 gold into it get it as powerful as it can be (and once it is, it literally cannot be anymore powerful), you'd be losing all your gems, and even then, maces are only ever suitable for knights, clerics, and a handful of expert classes, most of which can't even deal a ton of damage anyway. It doesn't deal debilitating effects, the elements in it cannot be manipulated, and all it takes is one Ethereal enemy to make it worthless. I think it's fine. Quote

Not what I mean Jimb, I got some serious unreasonable, personal flak for some of the concerns I voiced in the past. I'm all for debates over things, it will probably be the best way to deal with controversial things. Edited October 1, 2013 by Scubacarrot Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Really what it comes down to is power creep, which is sort of why I'm looking forward to starting a new character. Quote

If we don't argue about stuff we've got pretty much no say in regards to rules/items and such. Doesn't mean we shouldn't be civil and reasonable about it. Quote
Endgame Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Some math: Cost to get a WP: 9 to WP: 18 weapon. 100+110+120+130+140+150+160+170+180=1160 gold. I believe it costs 1350 to get it from 9 to 81? Quote

You're like that old man in the corner with the eyebrows that calls things 'newfangled'. But seriously, we need different points of view or else everything will fall out of place. Maybe a lot of people don't understand the difference between debate and argument. :shrug_def: And don't worry, I'm a miserable old git too. Really what it comes down to is power creep, which is sort of why I'm looking forward to starting a new character. Now, where's that WORLD-RESET button... Quote
