Flipz Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 IIRC, Ether Cores were developed by the Tritech Corporation (that is, the Ji Pei) as a means to power their machinery. Quote
Palathadric Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I found it a bit hard to believe that they were in existence 400 years ago, but maybe they were Ether Core 0.0025. Quote
Tachyon Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Wait is Rian, one of the trainee alchemists from quest 63 ? Quote

Or perhaps the modern versions are more technical and less drug-like--perhaps the Ji Pei turned a mystic's drug into a purified, technological resource. Besides, the modern Ether Cores bear a specific symbol related to the Tritech Company. Who's to say that Ether Cores looked/were the same back in Sorrow's time, or that the Tritech Corporation didn't just use the name of a long-forgotten product that had some of the same abilities as their new one? Vash the Stampede Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 @Q69: just take it to the Hall, before you ruin everyone's fun! We have another 10 posts I think. We should be good. Though if it somehow ends up to being 70 pages rather than 69 there will be murder. Quote

Yeah, I figured it must be something like this. Or maybe Sorrow made up the story so people would stop giving him Ether Cores. ...But this makes a lot more sense. @Q69: just take it to the Hall, before you ruin everyone's fun! Wait, is there something special about it other than the quest number and the number of pages being the same? We have another 10 posts I think. We should be good. Though if it somehow ends up to being 70 pages rather than 69 there will be murder. Murder? We know that there's only one hero who has a chance of being insta-killed by another hero on our quest team. Quote
Etzel Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I don't get why the Hat would be of any use to you. All it would add would be immunity to cursed, which isn't a big deal unless you have Golden Armor or some other such thing. It's not like the Hat is specific to Guts' build, either. Isn't it obvious? Guts want to hide his baldness. Also, complaining about only getting a WP:17 weapon when others in the party get a magic compass is a bit whiny. Quote
Vash the Stampede Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 OOC: Thank you CMP for this quest, it took a while but it was worth it at all! I'd also like to thank my fellow questers (especially Vash as for he is my stalker ) Well technically Dreyrugr has been part of Heroica slightly longer than Nessa. Doesn't that make you the stalker? Sandy Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Sandy, in particular, it is silly to drop a weapon and then penalize that player for using it (by not allowing them on the quest) and penalize other players (by not offering gems) just because it exists. The lesson there would probably be to not have that weapon exist in the first place. You thought I was being serious about those statements?! I did use the "tongue" smiley, didn't I? Simple solution: drop the WP of the mace to 4. Still makes it crazy powerful (as suits a Threshold Titan drop), but within reason--akin to the Dragonsbane Lance and the crown from the Jade Kraken. Max power becomes WP:36, which is within range of some players already, and most of the elements will cancel out (with the big exceptions being Humanoid and Undead). It seems that is the best course of action (although I think I'll only drop it to WP:5, since it cannot be upgraded otherwise). Sorry, Fielders! Quote
Zepher Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) Tricky tricky Sandy and your tongue emoticon. Wait, is there something special about it other than the quest number and the number of pages being the same? 69 is a... how to phrase this... culturally important number . It would be the same if quest 42 were close to being 42 pages long. Edited October 2, 2013 by Zepher Quote

How about I just go into the quest after they're done and delete any of those pointless posts with nothing but that silly, unnecessary thing called 'roleplaying' in them until the number lines up nicely? Zepher Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 And Guts get trashed. Huzzah! Zepher Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) The next time I host Guts, the quest will be entirely abominations. EDIT: 84, not feeling the tavern?? Edited October 2, 2013 by Zepher Quote
