Cutcobra Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Quest #85 would be much better if Guts was there and Saladdin used the move Lifestealer on him. Quote
Scorpiox Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Sandy, did you intentionally base Salladin on the historical figure, Saladin? Quote
Kintobor Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Anyone looking for Bonaparte rep? The quest I'm planning's got some in it. Quote
Cutcobra Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) Not really, but I'm still signing up for it. :default: Edited November 4, 2013 by Eric Su Quote
Chromeknight Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) So. What's the axe on #77 worth on the open market? Axe of the Minotaur Champion (WP: 40; user is Slowed and Immune to Hastened; cannot be equipped at the same time as a shield; axe) — This axe of bronze and the heavy wood of wyrshro trees from the forests of Kyyyshak can only barely be wielded even with two hands. My instinct is it's much more than 120 gold, but everyone else in the party is passing it over in favour of the gold. I worry I'm stiffing someone on the distribution, either whoever ends with the axe or everyone else. Or am I worried over nothing since no-one is complaining? CMP Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Sandy, did you intentionally base Salladin on the historical figure, Saladin? We've never been in more desperate need of a shuriken-throwing Crusader. Quote
Kintobor Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 What exactly is the South Tower? Has it ever been used in a quest? I'm trying to figure somethings out and was looking for locations. Quote
Endgame Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) Question about Slowness granting weapons; do they only apply when they are in use? Because, theoritically, couldn't someone use it one turn, switch it out, and then attack with another weapon? Edited November 4, 2013 by Endgame Quote
CMP Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 What exactly is the South Tower? Has it ever been used in a quest? I'm trying to figure somethings out and was looking for locations. Quest 53. Atramor may or may not have let an NPC die up there while he climbed down it. Quote
Zepher Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I think I described it as an old lighthouse that is no longer used. Go read a bit of 53, it's a fun read (for some people). I'm so excited to start killing off big NPCs again. It's coming folks, don't you worry! Quote
Bricksandparts Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Question about Slowness granting weapons; do they only apply when they are in use? Because, theoritically, couldn't someone use it one turn, switch it out, and then attack with another weapon? I suppose you could but it wouldn't make sense because to do so you would use a turn to switch weapons and unless you had hastened you would use a turn for nothing (as you would with the heavy weapon) and if you did have hastened (assuming you can) you would be able to attack once per round anyways. Waterbrick Down Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Switching weapons doesn't take a turn, but generally slow inducing weapons make the user slowed on their next turn. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Switching weapons doesn't take a turn, but generally slow inducing weapons make the user slowed on their next turn. Right. If you use a Slowing weapon, you basically lose the next Turn. Quote
Flipz Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Exactly. On a player, a permanent Slowed effect on a weapon is basically "after attack, apply condition(player.stun, t=1)". Erm, I mean, "after attack, apply Stunned-effect for one turn". (I may have taken up writing pseudocode as if Heroica were a computer-run RPG for purposes of a gag and/or in-joke. ) Quote
Sandy Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Question about Slowness granting weapons; do they only apply when they are in use? Because, theoritically, couldn't someone use it one turn, switch it out, and then attack with another weapon? I think switching weapons does not cost a turn, switching artifacts does. Even though it doesn't cost a turn's action to switch a weapon, slowed-effect prevents you from doing anything on every other turn, much like the stunned-effect. That's why you can't switch out that kind of a weapon until the third turn. Sandy, did you intentionally base Salladin on the historical figure, Saladin? Saladin+Aladdin=Saladdin You should know I love making references like this by now. Quote
Kintobor Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Is this Saladdin's father played by John Rhys-Davies? (I hope someone gets this reference. ) Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 So. What's the axe on #77 worth on the open market? You could sell it to the Marketplace for 200 gold, so at least that. In practice, I doubt many people would want (to use) this item though, so 200 gold might be an accurate guess. Quote
joeshmoe554 Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Is this Saladdin's father played by John Rhys-Davies? (I hope someone gets this reference. ) Except that Saladdin is the king of theives, unless he inherited the title from his father Cassim. You could sell it to the Marketplace for 200 gold, so at least that. In practice, I doubt many people would want (to use) this item though, so 200 gold might be an accurate guess. Given the damage output is slightly lower than a WP 20 weapon, but the potential for receiving damage is also reduced since there are less attacks. I think 200 gold would probably be a fair sum. Waterbrick Down Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 It should be noted that a quick purchase of the winged sandals would do away with the axe's negative aspects. Quote
JimBee Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 It should be noted that a quick purchase of the winged sandals would do away with the axe's negative aspects. As it did for your Lion Sword from a while back. Except this time the WP is doubled. Seeing just a little bit of power creep here. Even more so since no one seems to want the axe. Quote
Palathadric Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 In practice, I doubt many people would want (to use) this item though You've got to be kidding me! Well...I guess not everyone has a weapon like Lifestealer. I would almost venture to say that the axe is ridiculously overpowered, and should be shifted down to WP: 20, but... Quote
Zepher Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I can't use it. Buyers, flock to me. And if no one's interested, I can always melt it down and get some gold out of it. Quote
