Tanma Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 (edited) Likewise, a fair number of humans should NOT be considered sapient. True enough, who names their species "Wise Wise Man" anyway? It sounds redundent and kind of compensating, which doesn't really help prove that they are "wise wise." Of course the classification system has made a lot of bad names from Basilosaurus (it means King of the Reptiles, but it was a whale), to our closest kin Pan troglodytes. (who rarely live in caves, most Chimpanzees live in tree nests, and as far as I know they are not the God of the Wild) ...wait a minute, we were talking about Heroica. Must...stay...on...topic... So any current theories about Heroica's official story arc, should it have one? The only official quests to get sequels are Quest 2 and Quest 15, along with Quest 3 and Quest 14, so they might factor in the plot. Edited December 12, 2011 by Tanma Quote
Zepher Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Sandy has already indicated that Heroica will indeed come to an end at some point, with the story concluding, though I can't imagine it will come to that for a few years. I'm rather excited to see how it progresses! And of course, some side quests have sequels. Wren will appear a number of times, and the Lion Knights and Brobric Elves seem to have to do with an over-arcing story. Now, question time. WBD, does Skrall know Cronk well? I'm getting a kick out of his impersonation, but have the two had a real conversation ever? If not, Skrall is doing a really spot on job. . Secondly, Tanma, why does Dek'ra seem to hate Wren so much. I'm sure she would love him if she ever met him , so why does he bear so much hatred. Has he read up on Quest 7, did you ever say? Quote

I'm sure she would love him if she ever met him , so why does he bear so much hatred. Has he read up on Quest 7, did you ever say? For one thing the fact that she was a failed hero strikes a little close to home. Likewise De'kra respects and likes Cronk and Hybros, and doesn't appreciate her treatment of them. Plus he thinks she is insane to trust Zoot, though he thinks that of all clerics no matter who they follow. He knows a thing or two about blind faith, it rarely ends well. Ironically he never thought to doubt the Shadeaux guide, which probably strikes close to home as well. I think another reason is she is a face to the evil that lurks in Uland, and can be considered as something De'kra can vent his rage at. He has only just started to really hate Eubric, but he is finding new causes to despise it every day. So she gives him a target. Not to mention that De'kra has a distaste for Gladiator combat, that is why he didn't sign up for Quest 6. I am not sure how Wren would react to De'kra. He has a lot of pain to make fun of, but that might make him boring. He already is well aware of his flaws and sees none of his strength, so he won't really react to her taunts aside from agreement. You can't really break a bird that is already shattered. She seems to enjoy taunting people who resist and deny her points, but De'kra knows himself. Although there are three lies he tells people, and he kind of dislikes doing so. Then again, if she finds out what he is, he might turn into an obsession. I don't want to spoil too much, but he is not of Olegaia... Edited December 12, 2011 by Tanma Quote
Zepher Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 All fair. I love that he hates her, I just wanted to know why, as they have personally never crossed paths. I like Wren, and since Boomingham has been locked away on Quest 8 for so long, she seems the most popular of all my characters. I also like that people seem to think that they know her deal, as I have purposly revealed very little about her. All we know is that she failed Quests, worships Zoot, and messes with the heroes, no one has really been told her deal, and all things considered, she hasn't really been "on screen" all that much. Cronk never met Cronk, only heard about Cronk's adventures and overheard Cronk talking in Hall. Cronk is trying hard to practice WWCD like Cronk would Cronk's self. In all honesty, I just did it after seeing Scorpiox imitating Guts, and thought it would be a riot if we all chose someone else's character to masquerade as. Cronk was the only orc/troll that had enough of a style established for me to mimic. I have a question, if Wren is all seeing/hearing why doesn't she stop the heroes if she knows what they are already planning? Unless she has really got some ego problem Quote
Zepher Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 (edited) Tell you what. You will be running into Wren at least once this Quest (spoiler!) so why don't you save that question for Skrall to ask her! Don't worry, she's got an answer. Quick Poll: Would it be safe to assume Dyric would pick up a potion and just move the Quest along? I'm going to in like 5... Edited December 12, 2011 by Zepher Quote
UsernameMDM Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Yes. And don't forget Hoke's action with the magnifying glass. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I would say yes, since he will most likely take a potion. If he wants a tonic, then I will give him mine later in exchange. Quote
Flipz Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Zepher, I have to ask, is Wren the only person you have planned to mess around with chaos? Because, like I PM'd you a while back, I have ideas. I'm taking all the ideas I get and stewing them together, changing them just a bit so they don't conflict with certain Quests and tie in to others. When I finish writing my Quest, I want it to touch many of the others in little ways, while still having a flavor all its own. Perhaps it's my experience from weaving together 15+ different PCG stories into a single, (mostly) cohesive canon, but it's a style I really like. The downside is, I have to run little tie-in ideas past current and former Quest Masters in order to make sure I don't counteract anything in their stories/plans, but I want to do so in a way that doesn't "spoil" it for them in case they end up playing the Quest. (Sandy is the exception, for obvious reasons, but even then I'll try to keep some things a surprise in case Ellaria comes along for the ride.) Quote
Zepher Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 That's a bit of a tough question. The issue is this: I can't say no to more Chaos. Wren worships a specific God, Zoot, and it wouldn't be fair for me to steal all of Zoot's story-line for myself. Wren is but one follower of Zoot. Of course, I'd like to know if others plan to use Zoot, because, well, in my opinion Wren would at the very least be aware of any fellow Zoot followers, she seems to be intelligent enough that she would know if they existed, but again, I can't force everyone to report into me, that would be unfair. I will say that if there are any other users of Chaos Wren would not like or respect them, and would most likely not be working alongside them or training them. Quote
Sisco Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 @Zepher... Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit! That's one hell of a battle! @MDM- Don't take the bickering personally, just a little characterization for Jess. I feel she's become a bit too soft for being a rogue. Quote

Heh, we were just having this conversation about Althior and Atramor (and Arthur as well). I guess everyone decided to start yelling at each other at once. After having typed those three names into this reply, Althior and Atramor must now Quest together at some point in the future, just to mess with the QM. Preferably with Arasmyth and Arthur as well. Any other A-names want to join? Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 <Sorry, it shouldnt't be increased by one, you've reached the lovely half level increases from a battle. You don't go up every one battle, now you go up every TWO. Welcome to level ten and up buddy > Thanks, I completely forgot about that, I'll update my signature accordingly. Oh for the good old days of low levels, I guess its time to reroll for a new character Quote

True, I have a couple theories about her purpose. Aside from the obvious that she is just in it for the chaos, I have another theory. What if she is still an active part of Heroica Hall, used perhaps as a way to test and improve heroes? Since she kept failing quests, perhaps the Veterans tried to find another way to utilize her talents. The Hall couldn't have been so naive as to not look into Quest 7, and as someone pointed out, if she can read the minds of the heroes she could stop their plans short. And since she seems about humbling the heroes, perhaps she is used to keep them from growing too proud. Quote
