Kintobor Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Sorry for the double post, but I noticed that there is a typo in the Quest #91 pitch - I believe that they are called the "Ji Pei" not the "Je Pei" Well then, I guess we're even, Mr. phononemonanl speller. Quote
Jebediahs Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I like the Secret Santa idea. The recipient of my gift will get a pair of boots that allow minions and summons to prevent free hits which they can promptly sell to Nur. Quote

OR you could create a gift for someone that they can use, and not be selfish about it. If I got that, it'd hit you over the back of the head with them and trash them immediately. If we do Secret Santa, the item should be something the player's class can use, to avoid players from doing precisely this. Quote
Flare Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 If a Secret Santa thing went into action, all gifts should be suitable only for the recipient. Otherwise it ain't fair Quote

Kintobor Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) I HATE JOKES!!!! Can we have context, Zepher? Edited November 13, 2013 by Kintobor Quote
Kintobor Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) I think Jebs was clearly joking. Well the icon he used was misleading. If you were joking, I would appreciate next time if you used or or maybe even or if you don't like that one, there's always or perhaps even the age old classic . Sandy Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 She can cast all her spells through it (since weapon effects don't transfer to spells unless you're De'kra), and will heal the party on a SHIELD roll. In other words, she never has to upgrade any other weapon again. How is that any different from what a Sage can do? Quote
Flipz Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 How is that any different from what a Sage can do? Because she gets Extra Critical Hits and Magic Counter is all, and she has a better selection of Artifacts to choose from as far as SP goes. She's not "broken" powerful, she just has a very strong niche she can work from. A very low-key powerbuild, if you will. Quote

Pandora Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Because she gets Extra Critical Hits and Magic Counter is all, and she has a better selection of Artifacts to choose from as far as SP goes. Just as an aside, to have a Magic Counter, Nyx has to take damage. It's a roll of 4. There's only one other Advanced job class that takes damage on a roll of 4 and that's Beserker - Barbarian and Knight - and they get to use shields. Nyx has no greater access to SP artifacts above any other player, and she doesn't have a huge amount of HP either, making her very much the glass cannon. Thus there's a greater risk of her taking damage than most other players, and a subsequent high risk of her dying when a high level enemy just splats her. Quote

True, but as a Barbarian you have access to Heavy Armor, which most Cleric-classes (including Sage) don't have access to. In fact, Clerics in general end up kind of stiffed as far as good Artifacts go, unfortunately. Definitely agree Nyx is a Glass Cannon, though, just noting that you've done a good job of making sure you can last longer than you ordinarily could. Quote

Yes, I will use the smileys you command of me so you can feel better about yourself. My previous post let all potential gift givers know the type of item I'd be interested in and pretty much ensured everyone would get good gifts. Though none of it matters because there is no guarantee this kind of item would be approved and the event hasn't even been made official. .OR you could create a gift for someone that they can use, and not be selfish about it. If I got that, it'd hit you over the back of the head with them and trash them immediately. JimBee Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I really liked Atramor's little solo desert scene. There wasn't anything especially outstanding about it RP-wise, but Atramor by himself is just fun to read and watch. Nice job overall Pie. Too bad you really can't do anything now. (On that note, haven't we learned that removing a PC from the party with nothing to do for extended periods of time, essentially removing that player from the quest for who-knows-how-long, is a bad idea?) I'm a moderator on the official FTB forums. Yeah, as a general rule, if you don't give your players SOMETHING to do (even if it's just conversation) every 24 hours, they'll get bored. That's another reason I feel it's important for party NPCs to interact with the Heroes during battles--even with battles run every 24 hours, finding various ways to post "I repeat" can get boring fast. Chatty NPCs help break up the monotony, allowing you to cover delays without drawing attention to them. (Do note that if you ONLY have NPC conversation to cover with during a delay, you should try to have it happen more than JUST once every 24 hours. ) Quote
