CMP Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I don't think he means NPCs within the quest - I think he means characters who have been introduced by and for the player. I know, I'm just saying it happens regardless of creating a personal NPC or not; heroes can get really embroiled in NPC interaction to spend any time getting to know their fellow heroes. It's a good sign you've made a great NPC, but it can be disconcerting when you're so disconnected from what's going on. Quote
Scorpiox Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 However, Julio, completely oblivious to the coming assassination plot, smiles approvingly of the heroes. Just how obvious does that Senator need to be? Something like an Adoring Fan? The single most obvious issue with Oblivion is that the player is unable to simply stick an axe in that stupid kid's hair. Introducing a secondary npc/pc (whatever you'd call it) for your character to bounce of off is very bad roleplaying I think. I'm with Chromeknight. Roleplaying should be between the players. And just as a sidenote, I'm personally not impressed by most forms of pets and stuff (Atramor and Thotwick being the prime exceptions), but that's just me. To paraphrase Zepher: "Don't play with yourself!" I, however, agree. Quote
Cryos Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 The thing is. I had a companion character I was going to introduce when Baradock was level 15! And even have a note-pad filled with his/hers/its personality and characteristics, and such. (Still keeping it a secret.) Baradock's only trick at this moment is that he's mute. No more, no less. If he were my character, I'd stick with the mute aspect. It's certainly a profound trait, which would probably be more powerful if you didn't have him talk to himself or such, but instead tried to convey his feelings as much as possible by action. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Just how obvious does that Senator need to be? Well, if you look closely, Julio is looking to Screen Left slightly, therefor could not see the senator. Quote

Kintobor Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Question: In your opinion, how did the Wolfgang General's contract their Lycanthropy? Quote
Scorpiox Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Question: In your opinion, how did the Wolfgang General's contract their Lycanthropy? I don't know whether Ulfric is a werewolf in the sense that he does not transform and werewolf is his species, however the generals were almost certainly bitten at some point. Quote
Kintobor Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I'm just saying this because one can be born with Lycanthropy, and in that case, put two and two together. If Kayla was a lycanthrope at birth, then technically were-parents + Karie=??? Quote
Endgame Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) Violetta made constant remarks about Ulric/Copper Fox "made her who she was", and remarked that her werewolf form was the "true power" of the wolfgang - I'm guessing she picked it up from them instead of being born with lycanthropy. I'm just saying this because one can be born with Lycanthropy, and in that case, put two and two together. If Kayla was a lycanthrope at birth, then technically were-parents + Karie=??? Scubacarrot Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Ulric "gave" his lieutenants the ability to turn into wolfmen. Quote

Endgame Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Necromancer and Harlot should have been shoved in there. I really gotta bring alien Karie back. Karie literally has 4 different Expert Classes should could go for and it'd make sense... Dragoon, Minstrel, Necromancer, and Harlot, all equally possible. Though I imagine Masson wouldn't be a fan of the last one. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Harlot possible? The required item is not cheap... Quote
Endgame Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Harlot possible? The required item is not cheap... Possibly a Grogmas gift or something? Plus, Johon has one, and i get the feeling it'd linger on the aftermarket for quite a while. Quote

It's a good sign you've made a great NPC, but it can be disconcerting when you're so disconnected from what's going on. This is why I generally try to send Arthur into another room and keep my NPCs interacting with other Heroes until it's absolutely necessary...though it hasn't always gone well, since I've yet to create one of those really special NPCs that everyone wants to interact with (a la Ratabor or Felton or Punii). Scorpiox Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Why does everyone need a companion character so suddenly? Quote
Cutcobra Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) Why does everyone need a companion character so suddenly? I think it's replacing the split personality trend. Edited November 24, 2013 by Eric Su Quote
Cryos Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Why does everyone need a companion character so suddenly? I've had mine planned out since day 1. And it's not even an animal really. Now i'm deciding if I should just scrap it all together if everyone and their grandpappy is gonna have one. Quote
