Kintobor Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Quick question: it snows in Eubric, right? Quote
Endgame Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 In fact, it is going to snow in 86 shortly! Quote
Dragonfire Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 It would be kinda strange if the Copper Fox turns out to be evil... Quote
Scubacarrot Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 How so? Unlike my character´s and many others conviction, the Wolfgang under Ulric isn´t morally evil per se. I personally think out of the six veterans, he is by far the most likely one to have ties with the Wolfgang, that picture him exchanging gold with a Wolfgang member seals the deal for me at least. Keep in mind The Copper Fox is capable of many different things and teacher of all classes, as well as an ex-circus artist. And we all know carnies are a bunch of stone cold criminals. Quote
JimBee Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Quick question: it snows in Eubric, right? I'd say no, because it's pretty tropical, and an island. Geographically it wouldn't make sense to snow, just like it's pretty much impossible to snow in Hawaii or rare in even, say, southern Japan. Quote

I disagree, I think that Eubric should have the kinds of weather that fit story-wise regardless of whether or not they make geographical or meteorological sense. Quote
JimBee Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 By the way, what does the Mutated effect do? Quote

I don't remember seeing any indication Uland was tropical. Quote

Well that's another argument entirely. I guess you could justify anything in this game because it is "fantasy" and we can do whatever we want. Quote

JimBee Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 When has it been tropical? Uland has temperate forests. I don't remember seeing any indication Uland was tropical. It's near the equator, about the equivalent latitude as Florida. And again, it's an island so it's unlikely to snow there, but again, if writing the story and making geographical sense are two different things, then I guess it doesn't really matter. Quote
CMP Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 It's near the equator, about the equivalent latitude as Florida. If everyone's running around in long-sleeved shirts and armor it's not like Florida. Quote
Zepher Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Eubric is a renaissance city, basically, so I've always treated it sort of like European climate, though perhaps a little warmer. Quote
Palathadric Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 If you have a pet/familiar/girl/boyfriend/split personality that's one thing, but if it ends up being a crutch for your roleplaying, you should probably reconsider. I don't mind them otherwise - Zepher, CallMePie, and Flitwick all play their companion roles exceptionally well, without letting it interfere with their quests. And they've all happened by happy chance or something similar, such as Thothwick meeting Hoptet or Boomingham becoming a Paladin. Atramor had the chicken from day one, but who knew it was demonic? Besides, they all have their own well-defined characters besides the companions, which I think is ideal. On another note, I love Heckz. A sarcastic, conceited pretty boy - it's a simple character, but sometimes you don't need a convoluted backstory to be awesome. Very much agree in both points. Heckz is awesome! Quote
Palathadric Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I was actually planning something along the lines of a crow- an eagle perhaps- but I'm going to follow Scubacarrot's advice and wait for the opportunity to be presented to me... If my quest is ready anytime in the near future, and you feature in it, you may get your fowl, but you'll have to work for it. Rule of thumb I go by: don't worry about gems. They can help you out in a bind, but can also be a burden. If any, go for an amethyst, darkness energy, and socket it in a secondary weapon. Your primary weapon should never have gems infused, so you're never at a disadvantage when dealing with enemies. As well, you'll want to have one non elemental to deal with ethereal enemies, which are starting to become popular. Um...okay, although it gets pretty annoying when somebody is dealing 8x the damage you are to an enemy, because he's got his multipliers. But what do I know I miss more than I hit. By the way, apologies to my quest mates for not being around for a number of days now. I was busy and had no internet connectivity over the weekend. Managed to login yesterday, but it cut as soon as I did so. Quote
swils Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I really should make a list of characters Thormy's had interactions with, and to what degree. I feel like he's met Haldor before but I just woke up and can't quite remember Quote
Sisco Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I really should make a list of characters Thormy's had interactions with, and to what degree. I feel like he's met Haldor before but I just woke up and can't quite remember I had such a list for Jess in the form of a physical handwritten copy. I've since lost it... It's a good idea, just type and save it on the computer. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Quick question: it snows in Eubric, right? If you want a winter quest I'd recommend just sending the heroes to an area that snows in general, not seasonally based. That way seasons don't really play a role cross-quest wise. Quote

Bricksandparts Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Sorry, but this game is to unrealistic already. Well excuse me! I'm just making a suggestion, you don't need to go all out negative. It's near the equator, about the equivalent latitude as Florida. And again, it's an island so it's unlikely to snow there, but again, if writing the story and making geographical sense are two different things, then I guess it doesn't really matter. Scientifically speaking, Olegia's equator may not be at all the same as ours. For instance, Olegia's axis's tilt could be much different than our own. Speaking of which, I'd like to ask Sandy about this orbit system? Is Exofors supposed to have approximately the same density as the sun, therfore somehow keeping the other planets in orbit in between the two? And is Exofors even orbiting the sun? Quote
Zepher Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Magic! I actually like the seasons playing into quests. I think it gives some of them a nice feel - it's not required, of course, but some quests feel better in different seasons. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) Magic! That, stupid astronomers in Heroica, or a really complicated but theoretically possible orbit system. On the topic of of realism, how can people in Heroica possibly drink as much as they seem to?! Drake did the same thing, apparently accomplishing drinking 1 or 2 barrels, about his weight in beer, without even falling asleep... This is just getting to the point of being silly in my opinion. You never know. If orcs trolls elves imps can exist, everything else is possible. It will be a nag if someone keeps posting, "I need a drink once every few posts." Just give that person a barrel already! Quote
