To deny them gold in the distribution to balance it out kind of just defeats the purpose, in my opinion. :shrug_confused:

It doesn't balance out if their share would be 50 gold and they've made 500 in battle.

They still contributed to the battle just as much as the other heroes. If gold-gaining was something that didn't cause damage, I could understand: You're wasting an action that can be used to help somebody or change the tide of battle. However, since you gain gold while letting loose a (potentially devestating) attack, they still help with the battle's progression. I don't see anyone complaining that Guts was damaging the enemy, for example.

This debate really won't ever end until the rogues' generated gold goes straight into the common loot pool, rather than their pockets, and gets divided by the PL after the fight. Not that I'd ever want that to be the case, but that's the only way to 'balance' it, to quell the cries of 'rogue only helps himself' etc. Or, y'know, until people just accept it as it is and move on, but yeah

In this case, the difference on both sides of the coin (hehe, coin) came down to about 50 gold. I'm sure that's what you're referring to, what with both sides passionately defending their cause over that same 50 or so gold

Yeah, which often isn't significant to a rogue, but over the whole of quest 69, which had no rogue classes (except Dreyrugr, who is a Black Knight), the total gold income was 628, split five ways.

We got some cool items, sure, but MDM wasn't including items in the loot distribution anyway. 50 gold is actually quite a lot. (Unless you're a rogue )

Why do you honestly care about the gold distribution ?. Your'e on a major quest and are bound to get some good loot so stop complaining.

While I agree with your point, I think that maybe you should calm down a bit. This is a calm discussion about the mechanics in a game, and shouldn't be taken too seriously. We're simply building an argument for either side, and stating that opinion. Respect the other players, even if you disagree with them.

We're having a debate because that is what we want to do. No-body on either quest is complaining about lack of gold, but we are trying to discuss the issue and look for a resolution.

Better nerf some rogues.......

This needs to be a meme of some sort.

Someone needs to find a way to combine it with the "Karie Acting" meme.

Mystic Knights pay for their enchants, Rogues do not pay for the gold they earn. :sceptic:

In the end, party leaders have the last say and we can leave it like that. It would be fun to have different factions with some common party leaders looking down on the rogues and others being more fair as far as the loot is concerned. That way rogues will have a chance to be bitter against party leaders and lead to some more PvP which we all enjoy. :moar:

I love how Arthur is flipping through the negative effects several times in one round. It's enough to drive anyone crazy.

That's something that I feel strongly about, actually: both Mages and offensively-oriented Scroll-using Clerics burn through Ether at an alarming rate, and that stuff is expensive. I'd like to see more Tonics, Grand Tonics, and Ether Cores dropped as loot in parties with multiple Ether-users--they seem to be getting the shaft compared to the other consumables.

It's kind of a shame Illdria forbade PvP on the ship. Hoke vs. Guts could have been a very interesting fight mechanically, as Hoke's one of the few Heroes who has the SP to take on Guts one-on-one. :shrug_oh_well:

Yeah, I really didn't realize how nuts that unicorn helmet was when I bought it--though to be fair, I'd had my deal with Sisco set since before his hiatus (since just after 53, I believe) and given up on it during said hiatus, and the Unicorn Helmet was originally intended as a "huh, that's interesting" alternative to a Duplovian Helmet of the Guard (which was going to be my main helm through at least Mystic Knight and Regulator, because Healing Staff). Now, though...it's safe to say, I'll probably save my Duplovian Helmet for emergencies.

The question now becomes...should I stick immunities on it? I didn't plan it this way, but with the Sword, I can protect myself from negative effects and withstand a fair amount of rolled Damage and Special Damage (and I have Healing Staves/Potions if my health gets too low)while actually (marginally) increasing my odds of rolling Enchant. Is it worth it to prevent some of those effects entirely, allowing me to use a slightly lower WP weapon to increase my chance to hit at the cost of not rolling Enchant quite as much?

Somehow, unless the battle is really easy, rolling more 5 and 6 rolls does not seem like a great idea, if the only benefit is slightly better chances at rolling enchants. Getting more overkill should probably be way more helpful to achieve the same thing.

Guts would have buffed himself, naturally.

Wait, would Healing Staffs work on a hero wearing a Duplovian Helmet? I remember that I've wanted to buy one of you for sometime, I know I've asked about buying one since just after my first quest, but can't remember why I wanted to do that. If they work with the Duplovian Helmet, then that's a good reason I guess. Although the Helmet will still play second fiddle to the Shako in any case.

I have to say that this is only in certain occasions. In the fields or several other quests, a Raider or Assassin getting a shield would highly impact the party's chance of success.

I agree with this. Romulus is dominating the current battles in the Fields with his Ravages and killing most of the enemies.

Healing staff heals, Duplovian helmet makes you immune to healing. So...

No, it's immune to clerical healing, which works on a different principle (the helmet is immune to healing because it's immune to ALL Ether-driven things). If it was immune to all healing, then Potions shouldn't work, but Q75 shows they do.

I did get the idea that Capt.JohnPaul The Legonater meant the item to be immune to ethereal spells and healing, not all healing. But you have to ask him about it...

I think traditional healing should definitely work. Exactly what does the Healing Staff run on? I always assumed it was a magic-based item, and thus wouldn't work on the helmet.

As I recall, you added the "No healing" clause as a balancing agent. In my view, because the helmet blocks all Ether-based attacks, it should also block Clerical healing (which is Ether-based). The Healing Staff isn't Ether-based, so it shouldn't be blocked.
