Endgame Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Usually someone who can pull explsoives pretty much out of his hat isn't usuaully considered a pansy, but to each their own. My policy is that it influences your effect on NPCs, not decides it. Your Intimidation gets more and more influential the better your RP, and the reverse applies. Intimidation while not seeming all that nasty may or may not have consequences. Quote
CMP Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 When that is not the case anymore, they will all be like: "Yeah whatever go mix some potions you big bald pansy." I just know it. I'm saving that quote. Quote
Flipz Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I actually do always take those job traits into consideration when it comes to NPCs. The traits are there, may as well give the people rewards if they're smart enough to use them. But I'm probably biased because I have Diplomacy. I keep forgetting I have it now--despite it being one of the driving reasons I switched to the class. I'm always thrilled to bits every time I get to use magic outside of battle--busting down the door in 66 gave me warm fuzzies, and I was really pleased to see the thing with the stuff in that one Quest in Baltarok (hooray for deliberate vagueness ). Palathadric Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I would like to point out that could still overlap with any of the three themes I pointed out? My next quest will involve one of these three things: Treasure hunting, intrigue, or giant killer robots. Giant killer robots? I suppose, only if they're demon-possessed though and talk a lot about the woes of the world, etc. Intrigue? Pah! Surprise guys there's actually a demonic boss for you to fight who revives whenever you think you've killed him...oh, not surprised? But surely you didn't think he was the one behind it all? Oh, never mind! Treasure hunting? Ridiculous! That would take away valuable time that could be spent fighting multiple multi-stage bosses. So you see we know your hidden agendas and we won't be fooled so easily. Quote
CMP Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 "When you were in Dastan, Tarn, you helped us destroy Emperor Brunt's wall when you were in Dastan. It separated us U'Kin and other 'lesser' races from the humans. Why do you not help destroy this wall as well?" I thought we only killed Brunt's ghost. Did the wall just randomly explode after his death? Quote
Flipz Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I see Arthur's been a bad influence on Byblos. Quote
Zepher Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) She explained that they wanted to demolish it, but the ghost kept preventing it. I think... EDIT: Found it. "Emperor Brunt built the wall through the center of Drakencourt with the express intent of cutting the U'Kin and Pongcanis and all the other races that were not native to the land out of the city. Emperor Brunt enslaved the people he was cutting out to build the wall. Once they realized it's purpose, they rebelled. U'Stus once told me that over forty thousand U'Kin alone died while building the wall. His father was nearly one of them.""I hate the wall." "I have told my father that I demand it's destruction, and he has agreed that it serves no practical purpose. We have tried to begin it's deconstruction a number of times. Each time, the crew has been murdered. Mallelio and I have looked into the matter, and we have determined that the wall was enchanted by Emperor Brunt's head mage. Emperor Brunt was buried on this side of the wall, and it is our belief that he currently guards it." Edited January 5, 2014 by Zepher Quote

So we really are having a nice Endgame quest where just dig for treasure and don't need to fight any multi-stage big bad bosses? I fall easily for Endgame's smooth talking despite my better judgement. Just as I open the Treasure Chest... "Boo! I'm your worst nightmare!" *Shakes fist at Endgame* To think I trusted you! Quote

Zepher Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I'm glad Atters and Boomers have a similar stance on traitors to the party. The two of them should go on a quest with Arthur and Karie. Quote

Congratulations, you have inspired my avatar change. I'm glad Atters and Boomers have a similar stance on traitors to the party. The two of them should go on a quest with Arthur and Karie. I'm still waiting for that moment where I can get Masson and Boomingham in the same room again. It would be glorious. Quote
Zepher Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I'm game, though I don't know if I'm ready to say good bye to Boomers quite yet. It'd be the end of one of them, and since you can boost your stats as much as you want, and I can't (and I don't think you want Masson dying), I think Masson would end up killing Boomingham. I'd like to see Strivvi before I die, and yell at Baba a bit more, and then I'm all your's. Quote
Endgame Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 What reasons ould he have for outright killing Boomingham? 1. He explictly has a "no killing humans rule" 2. He really doesn't bear all that much ill will So really, the amount of friction is in Lawrence's hands. There will be one overt moment in my finale I'm kind of concerned/excited for, though, especially if Boomers attends... Quote
Zepher Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 That's what I'm saying. Boomingham would try to kill him until he's dead or Masson's dead. So Masson would be in a live and kill or die and don't kill sort of situation. Quote
Kintobor Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Honestly, I'm fine if Masson dies. Zepher, don't feel obligated to Karie's love interest that you have to let Masson live. It didn't stop the party of 66 from killing Violetta. I have no issue with you running your sword through Masson. Karie on the other hand... I'll give Tanma a little while longer, and if he doesn't post, I'll auto roll, 91. Quote
Zepher Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 He's slowed this round, nothing to post. And I know you wouldn't mind, think of all the role playing it would give to BOTH of us. But Endgame may need him, and HE can pretty effectively keep him alive if he so chooses. Quote
Kintobor Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Round rolling! It'll be interesting if Masson does get knocked off what state the Syndicate would be in, and who would be in charge, since at this point I doubt Karie could be a member of Heroica, run a vigilante group, and sing and dance every evening to a full house. Quote
Endgame Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Would Boomingham risk unleashing a momentous evil hellbent on destruction just to kill one vigilante? ...Probably. Yeah, Masson would probably just swat him down repeatedly until Boomingham gets a "What The Hell, Hero?" moment. He is relatively important to the finale (and will pretty much be around for the entire quest's duration), so he won't just be a bystander. if you kill him and screw yourselves out of a paragon, though, I ain't rebalancing the battles. (In all seriousness, though, I probably won't.) He is relatively important to the finale (and will pretty much be around for the entire quest's duration), so he won't just be a bystander. He wouldn't risk that... if you made that risk apparent enough early enough to stop him. And yeah, that's why it'd be no fun - no matter how powerful I try to make Boomingham, you can (and will) scale Masson so that there's no point in a fight. I'm on board for the quest, but I don't know if Boomingham could handle it and still stay the character he is. He's a little bit of a softy, though. I think it's because I'm a huge softy in real life. I'd absolutely and 100% allow any and every enemy to walk away after a fight. I know for a fact. I debated killing Lupine, but it made me too sad. Genuinely. Hate/love being invested in characters. Funny how your brain works that way. Edited January 6, 2014 by Zepher Quote
CMP Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 "I surrender my arms!" Boomingham brings his blade down harshly - severing Lupine's sword arm. Poor choice of words. Quote
