Flipz Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I'd so want to see this. But Sarge isn't even a Paladin...Maurice though. And Nerwen now too. Gah, meant to say Nerwen instead of Sarge. But yeah, Maurice, too. Lord, the battles would either stretch out for a year apiece, or else the whole damn thing would get autorolled in one fell swoop. Quote
Palathadric Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Either way, it sounds like hell for the QM, the second doesn't sound too bad for the players though. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Only paladins would be awesome, only have to have one character sheet by hand. Quote
Dragonfire Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I think Avalanche has a villainous brother... Quote
Kintobor Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Who goes around without a shirt, while wearing jeans. What a tease. Quote
Dragonfire Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) Avalanche didn't have any clothes on 83 Edited January 13, 2014 by Dragonfire Quote
Cutcobra Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Avalanche didn't have any clothes on 93 93? I didn't know one of the furry creatures we are fighting is Avalanche! Quote
Cutcobra Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Well then, maybe Avalanche had way to much fur in 83, covering him like clothes. After that he bought some clothes and probably went to the local yeti barber so he has less fur. Quote
Dragonfire Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Yeah! If Yeto survives the battle, I'd like him to meet Avalanche... Quote
Palathadric Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Who the megablocks is Nerven? Sarge. Also, 4.41kg, 55cm healthy boy! Aww! Congrats, CK! Quote
Duvors Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Races tied too closely to magic (elves, norns, etc) are considered just as harmful as magic itself. It's a matter of them trying to limit progress to what they think is reasonable for where humanity is. If they were completely successful, theoretically, history would play out much as it has in the real world. No magic, no near-steampunk airships or automatons. All the things that differentiate Heroica from the typical medieval era would be gone. Actually, if Pretzel's a Paladin, and he's into worshipping and willing to pledge eternal devotion to Ennoc, and if he hates undead, orcs, and other shunned upon races, he should really seek out the nearest Order Imperial member and sign up. Good luck finding one though, they're a sneaky bunch. They sound like two groups that are very similar but would automatically attack each other on sight. Quote
swils Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Alright, Pie, you can stop fixing my dice rolls now Quote
CMP Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Alright, Pie, you can stop fixing my dice rolls now If it helps, I would give you the triple damage due to Dragonsbane on the Wyvern if A. you targeted it and B. if you somehow managed to hit it. Quote
swils Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 If it helps, I would give you the triple damage due to Dragonsbane on the Wyvern if A. you targeted it and B. if you somehow managed to hit it. Suddenly, after a fairly smooth battle, the wyvern retaliates against Thormanil's pathetic attempt to strike it down, blasting the party with all manner of fiery-poison-devil's-brew-nastiness. Thormy: "Whoops. Honest mistake, folks." Quote

I like to think of the wyvern's dragon-fire as a sort of toxic napalm. It's...not a nice thought when you're fighting from the back of a wooden cart. So, the moment of truth. I knew Byblos would stab us in the back at some point. At least we can save him from the worst of it. We just have to, you know, stab him back a couple times. It's for the best. Really. If there's anything I've learned from Quests 75 and 85, it's that all of Sandy's NPCs come at a cost. And I don't think Byblos has been fully paid off yet. Edited January 14, 2014 by CallMePie Quote
Zepher Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Wow, that's a bold strategy, Pie. I hope to see it work. Quote
Zepher Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Alright, question for the role players out there - if a QM told you you were "possessed" or a shapeshifter knocked out your character and took over their body or something to that effect... would you seriously play the part? I'm asking because I have considered it for a quest before, but have never been able to figure out way to mechanically enforce it/make it fair/make it fun. Quote
Chromeknight Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Yes, but there'd have to be really good compensation for any exp/loot gained by the imposter. Quote
Kintobor Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Totally. I'd almost do it like a murder mystery: five heroes are called to where ever, but on the way there one gets jumped and is replaced with a double who the party tries to deduce which one of them is the imposter. Edited January 14, 2014 by Kintobor Quote
Bricksandparts Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Well Kinto, wouldn't you call that a spoiler? Quote
Kintobor Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Not really. The only person who knows about the switch is the hero who was jumped and replaced and the imposter. I love changelings. Edited January 14, 2014 by Kintobor Quote
Endgame Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Meh, if I were to do it, everyone would get repalced. Cue mass confusion. Quote
