JimBee Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 restating them is just bashing heads, which generally leads to headaches and little else. You're right. I'm just saying for all that fuss: do unto others. Edit: I didn't see the discussions in the QM Lounge before posting this. Quote
Myrddyn Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Cutcobra, the Titanic Axe will not damage flying monsters. It's rock elemental. And Noel doesn't have a diamond, so he will not do double damage with spells anyway, and the books all do the same damage regardless of what row he's in, so you might as well have him attack from the front row with Rawr. Or if Sorrow is hastened, he could attack and survive damage from Saga, while Noel could attack one of the monsters affected by the Pumpkin Bomb. And yeah, those sidequests. Can't wait to read what everyone else got up to! Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 The newer heroes from 90 have been KO'd and missed experience from several battles now, I didn't see you in any hurry to get them up so they could get XP in that battle. Guts went down first. I didn't get up since. Again. I would help them up. I dislike not getting experience when I can, why should others not get experience if that's the case? Anyways, let's leave it at that. I understand people have less funds and therefore think differently about using consumables. I'll make sure to invest in a bunch of phoenix essences in the future so I can be sure to survive the battle as often as possible. That should keep everyone happy. Quote

Thanks for the help though! Edited March 20, 2014 by Cutcobra Quote

I think JImB means in previous battles. Did Guts render aid to fellow PCs immediately? If not, why did you expect them to do the same? Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I'm pretty sure very few people finished battles I were in without getting experience. Anyways, Don't you think it's better if we end this talk? Quote

Endgame Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) That clause would've been great before we chucked the bomb, Sandy. Edited March 20, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Kintobor Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) That clause would've been great before we chucked the bomb, Sandy. I'm going to have to agree with Endgame here. There's a difference between letting the party know something is coming up that they can prepare for (like Endgame Syndrome), and just dropping a passive special on a party. Particularly since we just wasted a rare, expensive item in the hopes it would help us, not set us back in a later battle. I'm less mad and more irritated, particularly since you're generally really good at avoiding such mistakes. It just felt cheap. Edited March 20, 2014 by Kintobor Quote
Endgame Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) Actually, my bigger peeve: No gold. In any of these battles. The one time ther ehas been monetary gain in a battle, it was a piece of ore, and therefore not direct. I haven't been able to use one of my class's main draws the entire quest. I'm unsure whether or not you are doing this intentionally, Sandy, I just wanted to bring this to your attention. Edited March 20, 2014 by Endgame Quote

How do you prepare for a Passive Special that's defined as "???" ? In very rare circumstances so I consider spontaneous changing of battle reasonable. Secret passive specials, second boss forms, enemies randomly popping into battle. The only time I can recall being present for any of these was in the Wren battle, and to be honest she was such a central boss character that I think we all expected something like that to happen. That's my opinion, anyway. Quote
Endgame Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 How do you prepare for a Passive Special that's defined as "???" ? Because you can assume things are gonna go way downhill from there, and using the curren tunobtainable consumable probably isn't a grand idea. Quote

That's my opinion, anyway. At least the party knows that at a certain point the boss's strategy is going to change. Endgame Syndrome likes to kick in once the boss is at half health, so at least there the party knows somethings going to happen. Like a tree knocking out the opponent. With a witch present. I'm fine with enemies joining combat, so long as it's warranted. You need to establish the enemies are already out there, so when the party fights off the main baddy and his guards rush in, it's less of a cop out and more of a clever turn of events. Just revealing a passive special out of the blue seems deceiving, and sort of dishonest. As a QM, the players need to be able to trust you. I sort of don't want to use any of my cool items in 93 now knowing that Sandy could drop a passive special at any moment and negate our progress. It's almost one of the basic rules of QMing, the players need to trust you. Quote

I still think that mechanically it was cheap. If all those books were there, it should have been noted that Saga could summon more books. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Anyone at the hall want to make a party for unlimited? I plan to go there until Endgame's finale quest comes. Quote

Endgame Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 If you want EXP in my finale, you are going to wrok for it. It is going to be 53 levels of brtual, and then some. Quote
Flipz Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Oh, and reap the boatloads of EXP everyone thinks my finale will have, huh? No, he just wants to get experience period, and since there's probably only going to be one fight in which he's not KO'd at the end... Oh god, Endgame, are you ripping off Binding of Isaac? Quote
