Endgame Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Oh god, Endgame, are you ripping off Binding of Isaac? What? I've only listened to that game's OST. Are you referring to 97's current events? (Also, My Innermost Apocalypse. Best indie game song.) Quote
Emjajoas Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I wouldn't mind going on Unlimited, if there's room for me. Quote
LordoftheNoobs Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Neither would I, could be interesting. Quote

Yeah, just gave me the impression of BoI (especially given the mission of killing bugs in a rickety shack). Quote
Myrddyn Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 That clause would've been great before we chucked the bomb, Sandy. Yeah, but the bomb's effects would have worn off anyway because the affected monsters were dead. I guess if we had known we wouldn't have had Drucilla cast an Arc spell, and just left the enemies alive and disabled. I'm a bit more annoyed about Saga having just enough damage to K/O Erik in one hit. I really liked that first battle with all the stuffed animals, though. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Anyone at the hall want to make a party for unlimited? I plan to go there until Endgame's finale quest comes. I signed up for the Unlimited Quest when I first got back to the Hall, though it was never acknowledged. Quote

Quarryman Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I signed up for the Unlimited Quest when I first got back to the Hall, though it was never acknowledged. As did I, right after you in fact. Should we sign up as a group? If there's room for a necromancer on that group I'd like to tag along, getting to ten quests would take a long time, so I kinda need to go to the fields for the veteran's badge to get access to archmage. Besides, the fields should be very necromancer-friendly. Quote
Flipz Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Any chance of Pyro and my Arena fight going up before the weekend? Quote
Sandy Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 That clause would've been great before we chucked the bomb, Sandy. My apologies if you feel slighted. I just felt that the battles in the quest have been way too easy until now, so a little surprise twist was in order. And I don't think it's too farfetched to think that if the demon could summon books initially, she could do that again. The amount of minions is limited, anyway, and you get a Tonic from each one. As for the issue with gold, I just haven't found a good excuse to make stuffed animals, carnivorous plants and schoolbooks carry gold thus far. But your concern have been noted. Quote
Kintobor Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Thanks for hearing us out Sandy. Don't worry, I'm still having fun! On a side note, anyone outside of 94 can solve the door puzzle. Just send me a PM with the answer. Quote

But your concern have been noted. But the whole reason we went with the current rule instead of the common sense one was to avoid that! You could always say that they mugged the students' lunch money or something. Edited March 21, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Bricksandparts Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) My suggestion for alternatives for gold is have some set items for other enemies, worth different amounts based on the enemy. For example, birds would drop feathers, for example gold#/10 rounded up would be the amount they drop. Each feather could be sold to merchants for a specified amount or used for other uses if any arise. Some more examples would be scales, claws, ethereal dust (some type of magical dust for magical enemies?), skin pelt, etc. Note: Each item would have different values, as to balance amount of gold actually earned. For example, feather might be worth 5 gold while pelts would be worth 8 gold. Edited March 21, 2014 by Bricksandparts Quote

I wouldn't be opposed to that--though the way you stated it sounds way more complex than it needs to be. (Unless you're talking about those being dropped on Mug rolls, which I'd be opposed to.) Quote
Bricksandparts Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I'm not sure exactly what the situation is, just throwing ideas out there. Quote

Myrddyn Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Q: How does it affect my attacks if an enemy is said to be fighting from the back row? A: If you have a ranged weapon or can cast spells, there is no penalty. However, using a melee weapon you will only do half damage to that enemy from the front row, and a quarter of the normal damage if you are on the back row yourself. An enemy standing on the back row usually has ranged attacks, so it can attack both front and back row without penalty. If it isn't ranged, the same rules apply to its attacks. The books are ranged, so they deal full damage to people in the back row. So you might as well always attack from the front, even if you have a ranged weapon. Quote
Endgame Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 The books are ranged, so they deal full damage to people in the back row. So you might as well always attack from the front, even if you have a ranged weapon. I can still survive getting clobbered from the back row, though, assuming its a full heal. Quote
Myrddyn Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 You'd probably be better off attacking two of the normal books, though. Drucilla is targeting Saga, so there's no free hits from him, and you could survive being clobbered by one of them, plus your assassination would work. If you hit Red and Blue, there's no free hits, and Karie can heal someone. Quote
Endgame Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 More for RP reasons, if anything else. Sorrow's patience has been drained, and he just weants to tear that book apart. If it becomes seriously detrimental to the party, of course I'll stop, but I'm willing to take a risk here. Quote
Myrddyn Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) Oh, fair enough. In that case, we should probably have Drucilla target Red or Blue with the arc spell, and move Karie to the top of the battle order and heal Sorrow. Everybody would survive damage, including Sorrow, provided Karie did not completely fail to heal him. Wait now Karie is healing him with a potion? Sorrow is hastened, right? Says so in his stats, anyway. Why doesn't he drink his own grand potion? Then Karie could heal someone else or attack. And she's after Sorrow in the battle order anyway. *Sigh* "Roleplaying..." Cutcobra Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Oh, fair enough. I think with Archmages it's either cast an Arc Spell at everyone or use a weapon, you can't just target specific targets with the spell. Quote
Myrddyn Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Oh, silly me. I see what's happening now. Not the most efficient way to do things, but alright. Cutcobra, you'll have to move Karie above Sorrow in the battle order, I think. And Endgame, you might as well attack from the front row with the Scythe. Because I'm pretty sure all the books deal full damage regardless of row. I think with Archmages it's either cast an Arc Spell at everyone or use a weapon, you can't just target specific targets with the spell. Why this, then? Drucilla casts Arc Lightning from the back row (Targeting Saga in case of Damage or Special Damage). Wouldn't it be better to have her take damage/special damage from one of the books?Sure, losing all her ether would be a bit of a pain, but not as bad as everyone being fragile, or asleep, or minimized.
