Flipz Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) Argh. Stupid Flickr. Why isn't the share button working for BBCode--I can't post my thing I've been working three days on if I can't get the link to my photo. <iframe src=" width="100" height="100" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe> EDIT: Trying again... EDIT 2: Wow, that is a pain. I have to get the HTML link, and then edit out the HTML and add in IMG tags. Still, better than nothing... EDIT 3: Just more testing, don't mind me... Brickdoctor Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Is that Admiral Thraune? I thought I already had an avatar for him. Quote
Flipz Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Is that Admiral Thraune? I thought I already had an avatar for him. I looked through 31, but never found one. If you have one, it'd be VERY helpful. Also, a question for the rest of you: I've finally finished composing my Training Room post, but right now it's weighing in at over 45,000 characters and just under 200 images across 839 lines (roughly 26 pages). Does anyone know if that will fit in a single post? If not, do you all think I should multi-post in the Training Room (since it's all explicitly related to Arthur's training), or should I post it to the Hall (or would something this massive completely destroy the flow of the Hall?), or should I post to its own topic in a different sub-forum (comics? Historic? Culture?) and then simply link to it from here? Quote

Flipz Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Just edit out all the jumbled philosophy. Should clock in at maybe two or three paragraphs. Believe it or not, Arthur opens his mouth less than 24 times throughout the piece, and most of those are one-word responses. He's almost completely silent for about the first half. Quote
CMP Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I honestly think that most of the soul searching stuff with NPCs should just be left implied. Is it really going to be relevant to anybody who reads it, and does anyone care enough about Arthur's inane logic to read a book about it? I generally expect either a blunt one-liner or a big roleplaying post whenever I open the Training Room, but nothing more than that. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Does anyone know if that will fit in a single post? Get over yourself? Post the major stuff as a normal post, and put everything else in a Spoiler tag. Quote
CMP Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 A link to Culture and Multimedia would work best, I think, but how long is it before you're just linking half your posts in the Hall there for walls of text with every other major NPC? Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Is there a reason why Arthur's story is so convoluted? I understand there are rippling effects, etc, but does it have to involve so many elements/NPCs? I am not complaining or trying to be a turd, just curious. And just write! If this is fun for you, then don't care what everyone else thinks. If you want a thick, convoluted, over arching story for your character, then do it. Outside of a quest. I am all about story development as long as it isn't hi-jacking a quest. Quote
Zepher Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I have to agree with MDM - I think it's fair to tell you that probably no one will read that much, but the game should be for you (while not HARMING any other players), so as long as it isn't ruining anything for anyone else and you don't expect anyone to read it all, I think you're fine doing whatever! Quote
Palathadric Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Maybe just a make a new topic. Something that long would not be good in either the Training Room or Heroica Hall I'd wager. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Maybe just a make a new topic. No. Unless Sandy wants to open up a subforum for fan fiction/character development. Quote
Zepher Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) Why not put it in the Hall or training room? What's the worse that happens? You have to scroll a bit extra? I don't mind doing that so that someone else can have their fun. EDIT: Though, come to think of it, I suppose people with slower browsers would have to load all the pictures and that can be a pain, so maybe I'm wrong and speaking from a position of blind privilege. CMP Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Yeah, 200 pictures would be something of a nightmare for me to load. Never ceasing to make my internet speed seem ridiculously fast. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I looked through 31, but never found one. If you have one, it'd be VERY helpful. Huh. No, looking through my hard drive (because I'm too lazy to search through my unsorted Photobucket that I don't use anymore), apparently I made avatars for just about every named character (and some unnamed ones) except Admiral Thraune. Also, a question for the rest of you: I've finally finished composing my Training Room post, but right now it's weighing in at over 45,000 characters and just under 200 images across 839 lines (roughly 26 pages). Historic? Culture?) and then simply link to it from here? Split it up into multiple posts and don't publish them all at the same time. Post the major stuff as a normal post, and put everything else in a Spoiler tag. Whatever you put in the spoiler still gets loaded just like everything else, and the image-per-post limit will still apply to it. It just means you won't see the two hundred images while you're waiting for them to load; you still have to load them. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I think it's safe to say that this will be the longest single roleplaying event anyone has ever done in this game? Quote
Kintobor Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I think it's safe to say that this will be the longest single roleplaying event anyone has ever done in this game? I intend to do a bit for Karie and Masson's inevitable wedding. The service will be invite only for PC's, but the after party will be open to anyone (with a weapon's check. ) Quote
Bricksandparts Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Also, Flipz training will be next to one of the, if not the, shortest posts in the training room. Quote
Zepher Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) There will be a wedding for Tarn and Ella too, quite probably, but I will put it within the context of a quest. Many people will be invited, of course! Though there will be a strict no bombs policy for Atramor. Edited March 26, 2014 by Zepher Quote
