Sandy Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 Question regarding the Blinded and Sealed effects: what exactly is the difference when it comes to enemies? Is it the style of combat that the enemy uses (if there was a mage-like enemy, would it have to be sealed to be blocked, just as something like a dog would have to be blinded)? Or is the difference defined as special damage vs. damage? If the former, how would the style be of combat be defined? The use of ether? The scrolls that Elphaba sold explain the difference of the negative effects: Scroll of Sleep – Enables casting the sleep-effect to the target, forcing it to miss its turn for three rounds or until woken up by an attack. Each casting costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Blindness – Enables casting the blinded-effect to the target, making it unable to use a physical attack for the next three rounds. Each casting costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Sealing – Enables casting the sealed-effect to the target, making it unable to use a special skill for the next three rounds. Each casting costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Confusion – Enables casting the confused-effect to the target for the next three rounds, during which it has a 50/50 chance of targeting an ally instead of its opponents. Each casting costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. So yeah, blinded-effect on an enemy negates the DAMAGE roll, while sealed-effect prevents the SPECIAL DAMAGE roll. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Thanks Khorne, I'm sure I will get more feedback once it finished properly but it's good to know that people enjoyed reading the Quest as it progressed. I wasn't sure if the Kill Bill music was thematically appropriate but it's what I thought of when taking the pic of the bad guys walking out. Quote
JimBee Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 So yeah, blinded-effect on an enemy negates the DAMAGE roll, while sealed-effect prevents the SPECIAL DAMAGE roll. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks. And while we're on the questions again, might as well ask some more. Maybe an advanced class FAQ ought to be started? Okay, my two questions are: For the Black Knight's mortal (critical) hit, if they have the encouraged effect, is the health-to-damage transfer doubled as well, or is it after the attack? Also, for the Hunter, can the favored type be changed at any time? Or only when they roll shield? Quote
Sandy Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 Okay, my two questions are: For the Black Knight's mortal (critical) hit, if they have the encouraged effect, is the health-to-damage transfer doubled as well, or is it after the attack? Also, for the Hunter, can the favored type be changed at any time? Or only when they roll shield? 1) No, I don't think the health-to-damage value should be affected by the encouraged-effect, since the effect is not related to health. 2) Only when a Shield is rolled, and only to the enemy type that is currently targeted. If the enemy has several types, the favoured type can be selected from those. It's great that you ask these questions, since they help me clarify the rules. It's simply not possible for me to take every kind of situation into consideration when making these rules, as simple as they are supposed to be. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 A big thanks to all those who took part in Quest#13. I thought theroleplaying and characterisation of your heroes was top-notch. I hope you all enjoyed it and have even more ideas for your characters now. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I hope you all enjoyed it and have even more ideas for your characters now. Hell yeah! Quote

CMP Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Double damn it! At least you didn't shell out every coin you had for the original weaker version. Eh, there'll be better weapons... Quote
Zepher Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Hey Questies! I'll be traveling over the next five days or so, which means that A) a picture or two may be missing, I'll go back in and add them once I return home and B) I may only be able to get on for short amounts of time each day. I'll try to check up daily, but the Quest may slow down just a tad for a day or two within those five days. By the 29th we should be right back to a quick paced Quest, sorry everyone, and again, it shouldn't be too terrible, just maybe a little slower than we've been going. Quote

Should I make a Democratic Party leader? As in it will be majority rules? After all, I would like to get this quest done before I get back to a busy schedule. "I think that we should go exploring around the village first. Afterwards, we can start searching the trails. To the market first, and then we'll look at the rest of the village. You are already in the market. Quote
Zepher Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Naw, I can check in a fair amount. Hosting takes a fair amount more effort and time, I can make quick decisions Quest-wise, never fear. The only day to really do majority rules is tomorrow, as I'll be traveling that day, but every other day i should be fine!" Quote
Bricksandparts Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 OOC: Is that Finnegan I see? No, Finnegan is a blue spirit, this one is red. Just put it in there for fun. Quote

Tanma Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 (edited) He's from Avatar right? Yes, but not the alien Oversoul movie, I mean the Anime-esque western animation with tints of Steampunk as the plot progresses. Not the movie version of said show either, that movie doesn't exist. I have no movie version! This is actually the second time I referanced it here, and there will be other times. So much time used watching it. Momo and Appa OTP! ...Its late where I am and I'm sleepy. Don't blame me for the craziness I spew when tired. Edited December 23, 2011 by Tanma Quote

No problem, I'm enjoying the quest as it is. It's nice to have time for roleplay. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 No problem, I'm enjoying the quest as it is. It's nice to have time for roleplay. Indeed No offense or anything, Tesni has some basic motivations and a path at the edges of darkness and light to follow. Quote
Scorpiox Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I need a BB code for Haldor's past! I'm tired of rewriting it! Quote

Scorpiox Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 And I wub Haldor, the lil' guy is in front of me now, a few grams of ABS pure personality! When he levels up a bit he might even have earnt himself a new costume! Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Sylph dropped into market place. He purchased with his 180 gp, 2 smelling salts (40gp), 2 firebomb (20gp), 2 icebomb (20gp), 2 lightning bomb (20gp), 2 waterbomb (20gp). 120gp Looks like Sylph is now a little less 'unknown'! Quote
posades Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I'm finally back from college, so expect an updated pic of Xander with his Pongcanis gear soon. (although he does look pretty comical with the troll club, I didn't have the caveman one) Quote
