Scorpiox Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 What has Hoke done for the newbies, hmm? It's nothing specific, for you or anyone else, but neither time the low-levelers have interacted with the other Quests have anyone paid any real attention to them--it's always "hey new people, just go exist over there while Mom and Dad (i.e. Cinna+Dreyrugr and either Hoke+Nerwen or Guts+Haldor) talk." These are some of the most promising new players I've seen in a LONG time, and many of the Heroes act as if they don't even exist! I can't speak for out-of-character, maybe it's a roleplaying choice, but in-character it makes the high-level Heroes seem incredibly arrogant, and even off-model for some (read: Dyric). I'm sorry if this is me, I certainly haven't been deliberately ignoring new heroes. Before the battle it felt as though we didn't have much time for roleplaying, and since Haldor has never met any of the newer heroes before I didn't think now would be the time to make introductions and what not. To those players in the quest newer to the game: please let me know if you think me or Haldor is diminishing your role in the quest so I can factor that into how I play. This is an honest question, because apparently I'm doing it wrong: where does a level 6 Ranger get scrolls, bombs, and useful items in his first quest ever? Haldor offered to lend all of his spare items to other heroes, but only Purpearl took him up on it. Quote
CMP Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 "I don't neccesarily think that the worth of a life should be based on how attractive they are..." I think your party leader would disagree. Quote
Endgame Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 It gets all the more bitterly ironic when you realize what Sorrow looks like. Quote
Sandy Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 I'm terribly sorry about the Grogmas event. I keep meaning to tackle it, but hours seem to fly by and I really need a solid two or three hours to concentrate on it solely. But I will get it done, dammit! Quote

Comrade Commander Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Who's the party leader in #97? There isn't one. But Darksten likes to think of himself as one since he views himself as senior to Hoang Anh, and the NPC is by default below Darksten (in his mind) since Darksten saved him. Add into that the rolls Darksten has been getting (vs his companions rolls) tend to be better which only inflates his perception of superiority. Finally, I am really only playing vs the quest/Endgame since Hoang is inactive most of the time... so really it just ends up being what I suggest. (I am really looking forward to an active party next quest...) Quote
Endgame Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) If Hoang Anh doesn't post by the battle's conclusion, he's pretty much out of the quest as far as I'm concerned. I've been slowing down the pace pretty signifcantly to account for him, but he appears he's lost all interest. Edited April 22, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Comrade Commander Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Thanks. I want him to be involved, but I also don't want to keep waiting around for nothing and then miss the next quest that is available for the "new" heroes coming out of #90 Quote
Comrade Commander Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Ok roger. Please don't interpret my last as trying to rush you. I am enjoying myself and have liked the quest so far! I am in for the long haul so do what you had planned from the start. Quote
Endgame Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Also, instead of booting out Hoanganhbeo, because it wouldn't make snese plot wise, I'm probably just going to make it so that he is incapable of recieving levels/loot until he proves that he is capable of following the quest. Quote
StickFig Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 To make up for it, I think there should be a SPRING FLING event! MORE FREE PRESENTS!!! Heh, if we start a SPRING FLING event this late it will have to be GROGMAS IN JULY!!! Quote
Cutcobra Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I think your party leader would disagree. This post is 101% correct. Even though Sorrow would be saved before Karie. Quote
Endgame Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Even though Sorrow would be saved before Karie. Why? Sorrow is blatantly unattractive - does Heckz just hate Karie that much? Quote
Cutcobra Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Well if Sorrow puts on the hood then he would be attractive... Right? Quote
Endgame Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Nope. Old, creaky, and would smell like literal death, with or without the hood. Quote
Cutcobra Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Nope. Old, creaky, and would smell like literal death, with or without the hood. Wicked Perfume is your solution. And for the moth nests, we can just have a hunter that favors vermin. You know what, this Sorrow Makeover should happen. Quote
Vash the Stampede Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I'd rather go back to 24 hr rule. Looks like there may be another battle to fight after this one. I didn't mean permanently, just for us to get past this round. Hence why I said 'I'd like to petition for another 48 hour time slot for this round.' Quote
Palathadric Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 (edited) Edit: Removed old irrelevant comment. This is an RPG, not a strategy game. Never thought I'd hear this coming from the man behind Docken. Edited April 23, 2014 by Palathadric Quote
Palathadric Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Dreyrugr although not a low level hero, has himself has put forth ideas or thoughts that have been completely ignored both in and out of character, and I'm sure others have also been ignored that are also not newer characters. Well, you know, he is a demon. I don't know why anyone should take him seriously or even consider what he says. Thinking about it, how is he even fighting with them. No really, it seems like almost the whole #90 party is being ignored. Maybe most of the heroes don't know Dreyrugr either. It's somewhat disappointing because they probably have been the most reasonable party. Quote
Endgame Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I'm contemplating updating the Heroica RPG TVTropes page, if anyone else would like to jump in and contribute as well. Quote
Endgame Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 But first, I must remember which password and which prefix I used n my username... (If Endgame is taken, I usually add "Sir" or "Dev" at the beginning of Endgame.) Quote
