The remaining three heroes continued the desperate battle. Thalion took out the oil lamp he pilfered from the library, and gave it a good rub. True enough, a billow of pink smoke erupted from it, and in the next moment an exotic female djinn hovered in front of him.

Really cool design, Sandy! :excited:

Can we use Djinnifer throughout the quest, Sandy? And is each wish a one time use, or can we keep fulfilling her wishes and get more?

Yes and yes. But just mind you that she's not easy to please.

Thanks! Figbarfing is one of my biggest joys when creating quests.

I'm currently confused by your second yes, since it was an "or" question. I'm guessing each wish once though.

Figbarfing is such a crude term when the results look like that...

Sorry, I'm feeling distracted right now. My answers were YES, you (as in Thalion) can use her multiple times during the course of this quest and YES, you can only choose each wish once.

(Current Controller: Guts)

*yoink*

Congratulations, this is now on all of my NPCs that are not by necessity (controlled by QM).

I'd actually like to see it more often--will help a lot with NPCs being more than just minions.

vs. David - Special Damage: Cleric (General B restored to full health)

I'm not going to lie, after all that effort to get him down to a low health and him being one of the more annoying enemies we have to fight this greatly annoys me.

Back to making sacrifices to the Random Number Goddess, and on that note can we borrow a tank from the other party (preferably Hoke).

If you wanted Hoke, you should have been more open to the idea that the orcs needed stopping too rather than all rushing to face off against the kingdoms.

From a battle perspective, Hoke is one of four people who can safely target Bastala and her 1hKO. And he's the only one on his side of the tower. I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to figure out who the other three are and which you'd swap for him.

Yep! Always enjoy your minifig 'barfing'. :classic:

It's soooo nice to be wanted.

Note the tongue face to show I jest. Well mostly anyway, although the teams seem mostly balanced anyway.

You guys have Tensi (one of the hardest hitters), Cinna (the other mystic knight that would be a good tank and heavy hitter) a mime (needs explanation?) and a sorceror that's lucky half the time that I'm really amazed you haven't healed. And you haven't buffed any of them? (Yes they have some buffs but nostrums, mulled wines etc would do wonders on a few more characters). At least the east side had the sense to take their performance enhancing drugs before battle.

And your party has a total of three tiger balms, once you use that on Bastala she can only use her special once more and then is a whole lot weaker.

And in our own defense our choice of field seems to have been justified, even though we have four more heroes on the east we have 7 more enemies, all enemies in our battle are currently buffed except the healers, who keep healing someone to full health.

We might come help. Or just watch from the Central Watchtower.

But I am thinking there is at least another battle after this one involving some Nords.

What's the face used for Djinnifer?

It belongs to the Jedi Consular from Star Wars set 75025.

That awesome headgear is also making an appearance on another NPC in the quest.

Random thought: only allow buffing consumables (mead, nostrum, smelling salts, etc.) to be used in battles, never before.

I think it would be good for some quests, but not as a game-wide rule. I might steal it and use it against you.

It's a character based decision more than anything. Generally my NPCs are controlled by people they would take orders from - and in the cases that they are QM controlled (the case with most of them, in the past, and something I like to maintain [though for obvious reasons its not feasible in this battle]) they will take suggestions from certain people and not from others. I actually prefer making the heroes figure out who can command who - I think it's more fun to make them logically figure it out as opposed to just telling them.

I don't believe so.

It was ruled that way in 92!

Go ahead. Seriously, I think everything would be so much easier to balance if we only allowed consumable use in battles. You could even extend it to potions and remedies if you want to emphasize the role of clerics. You'd also prevent remedying negative effects or healing damage outside of battle for certain actions (Boomers eats a rotten apple and is poisoned for 4, but cannot remedy it until in a battle or nurtured by Ellaria). You'd also prevent QMs re-balancing battles to account for buffed heroes, and buffing would actually be more useful at the expense of costing a round or two to use the consumables.

And battles could be a lot more fun this way. :sweet: I would like to try it out as a QM or see it tried in another quest.

Main problem with that is that QMs have no way of predicting when Heroes are going to buff themselves, if ever. What if you design a battle thinking they'll buff themselves but they won't?

Exactly. Just balance the battles where no heroes buff beforehand (because it wouldn't be allowed). Any and all buffing would take place during the battle, at the expense of turns, thus the buffing would be that much more advantageous. It's a more cost-effective way that doesn't just let heroes be super-powerful before every battle.

Then you run into the issue of them steamrolling your battle, though. While it can be decisive, 1 turn at the beginning of combat usually isn't all that influential in the future; especially if they use a Smelling Salts to buff twice in one turn and just tank the free hits.
