Brickdoctor Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I think that for players who've been around longer (and with warning that the QM would be doing so), the first-person narration wouldn't be so confusing. It was certainly one of the most interesting and immersive styles we've seen here so far. Yeah, probably. I'm sure part of the problem was that I was still making up a QM style as I went in that quest, since it was my first. (Actually, we probably were all still deciding what style to post with in Heroica at that time. I mean, I was still making some attempt at roleplaying my PC at that time. ) Quote
Flipz Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Holy cow. I just did a search because I was giving advice about classes to LotN and decided to do Customizer as well--there is literally ONE artifact in the game for Cannoneers, and it belonged to an NPC in 92. ONE. They don't even get to use quivers! What is wrong with us?! We're more creative than this! Quote
Vash the Stampede Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Speaking of Cannoneers what is the list of the bombs they can make? It says they make a random bomb which at the time was just your average weak bombs in the marketplace. Although since then we have had some upgrades to bombs to do 100 elemental damage, pumpkin bombs for a bunch of status inflicting effects, etc. So can Cannoneers make those? Quote

Although since then we have had some upgrades to bombs to do 100 elemental damage, pumpkin bombs for a bunch of status inflicting effects, etc. So can Cannoneers make those? Ah, yes. The class seems to require a clarification, then. But yeah, Cannoneers can only craft the weak elemental bombs. Quote
Cutcobra Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Ah, yes. The class seems to require a clarification, then. But yeah, Cannoneers can only craft the weak elemental bombs. Oh, come on. Who would want to be a Cannoneer if it keeps being this weak? Quote
Flipz Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Well, we don't have any Cannoneers yet, so there's no rush to make special items for them... I disagree. We've had special staves for Necromancers since before there were any Expert Class Heroes period, we've been getting Beast Warrior drops for ages even before Benji decided he wanted to go that route, etc. More importantly, though, is the fact that there's nothing suitable for them amongst the standard Artifacts, the way that Heavy Armor is suitable for Skirmishers and Dragoons, or the Robe of the Archmagi also works for Minstrels and Necromancers, etc. For all the other Expert Classes, there's a way for Heroes to plan and prepare for their upcoming role; for Cannoneer, there's nothing. Ah, yes. The class seems to require a clarification, then. But yeah, Cannoneers can only craft the weak elemental bombs. I'd actually prefer if they were able to craft the Military-strength bombs (the ones that deal 10 elemental damage instead of 5). It makes more logical sense (since Cannoneers are part of a military force), and helps make them a slightly more useful class in the way that Alchemists are: by being able to create things that aren't usually available. Waterbrick Down Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I once considered going cannoneer, but the reputation never seemed to be available and looking around the equipment available never seemed really enticing. If we are approaching the point where factions and allegiance are reaching a head, I would encourage QM's to try and implement those factions within their quests, it seems like a lot of quests as of late have been house neutral, which is all good and well, but doesn't really help to expand upon the identities of the current houses where reputation will be key into determining alliances. Skrall's currently done the most work for the Hinckwells but I honestly don't think he'd support them in a war (which is coming) but he hasn't had much opportunity for any other reputation it seems. Flipz Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Maybe we ought to brainstorm a bit and try to come up with more things suitable for some of these less-used classes, then, in order to MAKE them more appealing. Quote

The_Customizer Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Agreed, I still plan on going Cannoneer with Erdy, which will make for a very fun back-story, but it does seem there isn't much out there for them. Obviously, some Bonaparte quests would be needed as well. Quote

But you forget that the Cannoneer's strength isn't related to the ability to craft bombs, but to incorporate the bombs' elemental properties into their attacks, making them item-based Arch Mages. The bombcrafting is there to keep them stocked with ammunition. Speaking of Cannoneer-boosting items, I for one have handed out a couple of strong handcannons (the Grogmas Handcannon and the Divine Cannonade). But of course there could be items unique to them, if someone would only come up with one. Obviously, some Bonaparte quests would be needed as well. Quest#100 is Bonaparte-related, among other factions. Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 You want a S.D.M.G.? This ain't Terraria. You would not believe how long I have been waiting for someone to say that. No. THIS. IS. LEEROooooooy Mh'Jenkeeeeens! But seriously the Space Dolphin Machine gun uses Space dolphins. And it's a machine gun. This is a heat seeking self propelled Laser shark lock-on targeting system. It calls down a Laser shark air strike. But form the sea. Quote

The_Customizer Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) I hope you enjoy my sociopathic demons, at least! Indeed, I just love beating them to death! Maybe there is some way to include a chance for Bonaparte reputation in it? Kinda like what we have already with the Shadeux, or even some cannoneer-related loot would be nice. Sandy Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Speaking of the Bonapartes, is Hestia still up in the Northern Seas? You mean Attina, the admiral's daughter? Yes, the campaign against viking raiders still continues. She was featured at the beginning of one of the Baltarok quests, in case you missed it. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I'm waiting for JimB to have Johon fall into a hole or something for digging in the Fields of Glory. (Nothing against you, B&P; it just seems kind of unsportsmanlike by virtue of taking even more advantage of a very favorable system stats-wise. ) Quote

Nah, the only way a hole can lead to Narnia is if it's filled with water and you're wearing magic rings. Fields of Gory. Quote
Flipz Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Nah, the only way a hole can lead to Narnia is if it's filled with water and you're wearing magic rings. Hmm, isn't there a ring as a potential drop in the Fields somewhere? (The one that's worth 15 gold or can be used to Enamor someone?) And you have a Necromancer who, if I'm not mistaken, has an Aquamarine on her... Quote
