UsernameMDM Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Pretty sure Minstrel singing works like the Buffoon's Hat. Also: time to rebuild my char. Again. I thought that was what you lived for. Yup. What happened this time? Quote

Sandy Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 I think Sandy said that if the Minstrel is the last hero left they can't sing or they're susceptible to free hits or something. That's one of the things I need to look into. Minstrel needs some balancing, for sure. The Plaything thing. I now have a Zoot's weapon Broomstick I can't use. I don't think I ever okay'ed using weapons that don't suit with the current class. It's odd that you assumed you could... There are weapons that can be used by any class (the Torch and the Pitchfork of Domination, for example), but Zoot's Plaything isn't one of them. EDIT: Referring to the discussion at the Rules-topic, it seems I have given a permission for the Plaything to transform into something suitable for the new class. So you can still keep on using the weapon, you just need to change it's type. Quote
Myrddyn Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) *Snip* they're incredibly rare, and no more will ever exist. Yeah, as other people have said, they aren't actually that rare. Especially considering #99 just dropped one that also ignores SP. But enemy SP is not that common, so I don't think it's really that much more powerful than a standard Broomstick, so personally I consider Broomsticks to be more a Staff with a special ability than a whole new weapon type. Broomsticks without effects are less powerful than Dual-Strike weapons. They ignore both hero and enemy row, which is uncommon anyway, but they have no option for double damage. So, in my opinion, a Dual-Striking Broomstick would be way OP, but a Dual-Striking Bow would not. Edited May 31, 2014 by Myrddyn Quote
StickFig Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 So, in my opinion, a Dual-Striking Broomstick would be way OP, but a Dual-Striking Bow would not. What about a triple-striking hand cannon? I'd like to revisit the Fireball's damage (based on having used it now in a quest). I think that it works the opposite of dual-strike: if there is only one enemy, it only hits that enemy once. If there are three enemies, it should hit all three enemies once. WBD, I think I understand your intent with the Fireball to be that the extra enemies damaged are meant to simulate a large blast or shrapnel that wouldn't necessarily have hit a single enemy. It's not that the Fireball causes the user to strike three times, it's just that the Fireball's damage is the same as an AOE big enough to hit up to three enemies with just one strike. For that reason, I've re-created the Tripleshot shield skill damage table and it is actually much simpler. Fireball Extraordinaire Cheat Sheet: On a roll of TRIPLESHOT, 1-3 enemies present: **All enemies: 3x Power (Power = WP + WP Bonus + Level + Power Bonus) 4 enemies present: **Target, Enemy above target, and Enemy 2 below target: 2x Power **Enemy 1 below target: 3x Power 5+ enemies present: **Enemy above target, Enemy 3 below target: 1x Power **Target, Enemy 2 below target: 2x Power **Enemy 1 below target: 3x Power Quote
Myrddyn Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Well, in that case, you exchange the ability to focus both your hits on one enemy for the ability to hit one additional enemy. (1 hit enemy A, + 1 hit enemy B OR 2 hits enemy A) versus (1 hit to three different enemies). Since the Dual-strike still only prevents free hits from one enemy, it is often more beneficial to concentrate both attacks on the one target, in order to remove that target from the field sooner. Conclusion: Perhaps somewhat OP. But it's a one-off item, from a massive quest. Plus, there's already more OP items, I'm sure. And, y'know, at least it isn't Hybros who has it. Quote
StickFig Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Conclusion: ...at least it isn't Hybros who has it. Or Atramor, or Guts, or Skrall, or ... Edited May 31, 2014 by nstickney Quote

JimBee Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Or Atramor, or Guts, or Skrall, or ... IMO, Skrall is not that powerful. Hunter as a class alone is the ultimate boss-slaying class because of their ability to favor types. That's why Skrall was so effective in the Fields of Glory. I'm not saying he's not a strong character stats-wise, but I don't think he's as strong as Guts or Atramor. If I had to pick a list of strongest stat-wise characters, it'd include Guts, Atramor, Hoke, Docken, Namyrra, Tesni, Hybros, Erdathcath, and Eric. Maybe Sarge and Nyx would have spots on there too. Speaking of Fields of Glory, update to come after I get home from work tonight, UQers. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) I've built Skrall to be a boss killer, mathmatically it's easier to get more power via multipliers vs. straight WP, hence why I invest in Gems, Multi-Favoring, Meads, and Fragile enducing effects. I'd agree Skrall isn't effective against large groups, but once a Hunter gets properly setup they are definately a force to be dealt with. Edited May 31, 2014 by Waterbrick Down Quote

Pyrovisionary Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Sarge is pretty versatile with all those attacks. I love the battles with lots of slightly weak enemies. I can just mow through them four at a time if the rolls are good. Quote
CMP Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) You should see Atramor when he goes Infiltrator. Basically, assuming he's on a Quest with four allies... On a Shield against humanoids, ((((15 x 2 (Tiger Claws Bonus) x 4 (Critical Multiplier)) + 32 (Level)) x 2 (Darkness)). 304 damage per hit dealing two hits each on up to four different enemies. JimBee Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Keep in mind Guts changed from Raider to Alchemist. That doesn't make him any less powerful. The ability to use items without using a turn is extremely useful (it's one of the reasons I wanted to go Infiltrator). Plus creating items, plus gaining massive amounts of gold in combination with the Dancing Shoes, plus the Marketplace discount... not to mention Guts has the strongest weapon in the game. I'd say he's still close to the #1 strongest hero. You should see Atramor when he goes Infiltrator. Funny, I was reading 96 today and wondered if you changed the Pheles Rod to a dagger with the intention of going Infiltrator. I even checked the class page and Atramor's stats to see how it'd work. Nothing like your absorby/tanky Regulator build, which is cool because of the variety, but definitely still deadly. Quote
StickFig Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) Say, for example, you were to chuck a pebble into the Lifespark. With a bit of know how and centuries of ethereal mastery, one could conjure up a mighty golem from that pebble and a single ember of the Lifespark. I'm sure the Allspark Lifespark is hidden under Hoover Dam with Megatron... oh wait, wrong story.... Skrall breaks down the door. Skrall The door is sunk into the frame, and is smaller than Skrall's stature, he can't put his full force behind it, and does not manage to break down the door. He will need to think of something else IMO, Skrall is not that powerful. I think you might be right... what kind of Ogre can't break down a little door? Edited June 1, 2014 by nstickney Quote
Zepher Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 It also raises the question how the original Ogre got in the room? The one that Ellaria and Atramor just killed. It was established Skrall was too big to climb the building, and too big for the door, so did that other Guard Ogre get shoved in as a child and then has lived there ever since? Quote
StickFig Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 He was a pygmy Ogre, I bet. I mean, as fast as Atramor and Ellaria finished him off, that's kind of a poor showing for a big bad Ogre... Quote
