Sandy Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Cally Fisher is also a nod to Carrie Fisher, I presume? Yeah. Also a complete look-a-like. Quote

Palathadric Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I am literally one set away from getting a pitch to you. I haven't planned the battles fully yet either, but if you don't mind that I could send you the pitch tonight? I know I don't have a good track record of planning competent quests but this one is fairly simple and short. That was quick. Good work. Now you can start building sets for me. No really, if you want I'm halfway serious. Quote
JimBee Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Doesn't fit in between the letters D and M, like Flipz wanted to. Unless you were referring to a class we are still missing. I think we've got the tanks covered with Warden and Guardian Knight. Yeah, I was just shooting out an idea for a class. A Vanguard class doesn't have to be a full-fledged tank. By definition the term refers to a military group/unit that goes into battle first to secure ground, so a high-power, mid-to-low endurance class. They could use weapons that aren't very emphasized in any other class, like axes, clubs, and maces. Just a rough idea. Heroica is a bit different due to the nature of its combat system when it comes to these roles as compared to other RPG's but the basics remain. If we're looking at additional classes, I'd suggest a tank or a leader class. That's a cool guide, we should save this post. I always thought of the classes being divided into Tank, Attack, and Support, but I guess it's a bit oversimplified. How about class reworks? I've always had this idea for Chi Monk to where instead of being weaponless, they could boast a stance system and use bo staffs (lances), brass knuckles (new weapon type? ), sai's (daggers), kamas (swords/scythes) and so on and so forth. They could go to the training room to apply a stance to a weapon, removing all bonuses except the element and WP and adding the stance. i.e. Bleeding Willow; lance Stance; Brutal Tide - Chi Monk gains bonus SP based on the amount of items equipped, Dragon Claws; fists Stance:Sundering Weave - Chi monk becomes hastened and their attacks will cause a stun for the next round. Cannot be applied on same target 3 rounds after the duration of the stun. it's just been a thought floating around in my head. That sounds like a really cool class, actually. Though I have to agree with Pie and say that Chi Monk is mostly good as it is. Using no weapons is unique, and otherwise has some pretty cool characteristics. Your ideas sound like good brainstorming material for a separate class, though. I had sort of a warrior monk class idea called the Ascetic that would channel one of four spirits at the cost of 5 ether, and gain buffs when they attack. One was based on defense, another on outright offense, one on marking a specific enemy, and one that granted multiple positive effects but degraded health and ether. That also sounds neat, but kind of similar to Evoker. How about an item (or items) that let Evoker cast spirits other than ones that cause just elemental damage? It would actually go a long way to buff that class a little. Though I do like the class how it is, enemies getting stronger and stronger have just made it less useful. IMHO it's the least appealing out of all the Advanced Classes, which is a drastic change from when the ACs were first introduced and it was one of the most favored. I am glad to see that there still are two active Evokers around, for a while we didn't have any. Am I allowed to give opinions, being the one hosting it? Yes, please? On another note, 102 looks great so far. I'm most interested to see the dynamic between Purpearl and Nerwen. Zepher, I love how you put those links in. It's not just helpful to the newer heroes; I'm sure the older players forget/have not read a lot of content. Myself included, as I was very surprised to see one of my own quests linked there, and still asking, "when in my quest did anyone control weather? Oh yeah...". I also like the Canoneer/Alchemist hybrid. I can't see hybrid classes like that being practical in the future, but it's a nice flavor class for XX, and you've nerfed some of the skills appropriately. Interested to see how that will work out. Quote
Palathadric Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I love reading other character's perception of Monk Pretzel when he's not around. Quote
Cutcobra Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 In the topic of classes, how about a Warlock class? Maybe the shield can be summon a demon depending on another dice roll. Quote
StickFig Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) Also, Purpearl/Nerwen, I realized I didn't exchange your gems/scrolls, but I have to dash out the door right now, so I will remedy when I get home. I'm very sorry. Matthias should also have Alexis' quickdraw quiver. Not that it matters, since we're being forced into wearing an extra (useless) artefact.... Edited June 4, 2014 by nstickney Quote

Cryos Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Anyone up for hosting a quest anytime soon? I know many people are on vacation during the summer, but there's practically no backlog of quest pitches right now, and I think there's still plenty of players anxious to get on one. So send me your ideas. please! I've got the story elements, enemies and have sets and pictures going. If push comes to shove I can wing the battles set ups (They're not too epic so setting them up not hand picked should be fine.) It's about time I get this greasy pig out the oven anyway. Quote
Zepher Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I'm glad you like 102, JimBee! I'll explain my rationale for the links at the end of the quest, but I'm happy they're being used! And just think about it this way, Masked - you've already gained 3 more experience than you would have if you'd not been selected for the quest and were still bumming around the Hall. Quote

Myrddyn Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) Quarryman, I believe Namyrra could swap out the Bloody Bug for a Splatterfly and then swap a Gloom Widow with one of the Tangleweeds for no additional cost. Only a slight damage increase though. Yeah. Also a complete look-a-like. Seriously, cocaine messes you up. Edited June 4, 2014 by Myrddyn Quote
Quarryman Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Myrddyn, you definitely have a point, will have to reevaluate those attacks. Thanks. Quote
StickFig Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) Apologies. Had R&D thread and this one open in separate tabs and clicked the wrong one to post in. OOC: Wrong thread, thought this was Lion's Share. Oops. Wrong thread, sorry. Sorry, wrong thread! Sorry, wrong thread! Oops, wrong thread. Palathadric, you could at least have had the good sense to blush (like all those before you ). Edited June 4, 2014 by nstickney Quote

I have been toying with the idea of making a Demonologist class as well as a playable Scholar class, but nothing concrete has yet come out of those ideas. Quote

Yes the links are quite helpful, some of the stuff I don't remember. True, I was just hoping to be level 50 by the end. How about Botanist? Waterbrick Down Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 How about Botanist? Slowly grow and exploit a carnivorous plant to eat everyone! Or just manipulate plantlife magically or something..... I believe Jebediah's had a class proposal like that. All this talk of class design has reminded me of this topic, it's been buried so I'm not sure if some of our newer players are aware of it. Quote

Cutcobra Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I like the fact that Heckz is always waving at something in #93. Quarryman Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Demonologist sounds really good, but what's a Scholar gonna do? Read a book till the enemy dies? The Scholar class already exists: Though I fear a playable Scholar class wouldn't have the 100% chance at success when using scrolls, it would make certain things too easy. There's a reason scrolls were nerfed after all. Quote

Kintobor Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Quick question: Any non-Baltarokers want to go to the Orcish continent? Do we have any Baltarokers wanting to return? Quote
Zepher Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I'd love to... but I also want to get on a Pie Quest, and revisit WBD as a QM, and would also love to go on Endgame's finale to at least rediscover an old foe... AND I want to put Strivvi at peace too, if I ever get done murdering this pile of bones. So it sort of depends when. I'm trying to plan ahead less, and let fate decide both who I host and where Boomingham goes. Quote
