Kintobor Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) I'm actually really enticed about your quest, emjajoas! I had a similar idea for a quest, but it simply never came to fruition. If you need assistance, feel free to contact the other QM's! Same goes for Pyro! Edited July 20, 2014 by Kintobor Quote
Zepher Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I had a similar idea for a quest, and then I made it and it was Quest 39. Excited to see what you bring to the table though, Em!! All those old pictures of Dastan (that I made... BD's are still lovely of course!). I'm actually planning to return there soon, so I can show off some of my new prowess. Quote
Palathadric Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 The WBD quest does sound incredible. I know. But don't they always? Besides, although I'm really excited about QMing and I'm pretty confident about my entire setup (especially what WBD's showed my of the sets and figs so far ), I'm a little anxious about balancing and running battles-- though I'm sure my questees won't mind a screw-up or two. Ha, ha! Just you wait. Quote
Emjajoas Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Thanks! I hope I live up to expectations, then. Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I'd be happy with being on any quest right now, even though I'm probably going to be picked for #106 (unless someone else signs up for it). Are your sets in LDD, Pyrovisionary? Just wondering. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Question, are resistances to positive/negative effects on gained effects, or all? For example if you had a Loaded die and you used a tiger balm would you still be lucky? Quote
Cutcobra Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Are we ever going to see Obero "Blackgull" Bonaparte? He sounds like a total bad-megablocks. Quote
JimBee Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I, too, have found myself contributing to the wiki. Rito, NPCs, and Quests! We need a comprehensive index for the wiki ASAP. And what do you know? There's now "Star Elves" and "Sun Elves" in the world as well - the former referring to the inhabitants of Spesialia and the latter to the dark-skinned ones in the Eversummer Islands. That's cool! I really want my second character to be a Moon Elf. I might ditch Hybros if I have to at some point, but all of these elf communities seem really cool. I wonder where Nerwen and Purpeal are from? Kintobor Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I've got Sorsha as my second character, so everyone stray away from using her! Quote
Zepher Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 My second characters will always be killable with one KO at the end of a battle, so I've got a few back logged. Quote

Zepher Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Isn't he that already? I think the characters will be very loosely related to him - he has established he has no surviving family. Quote
CMP Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Isn't he that already? Well, his friends all falling into the cycle of joining Heroica and then inevitably dying at some point isn't going to help things. Quote
Flipz Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) I, too, have found myself contributing to the wiki. Rito, NPCs, and Quests! We need a comprehensive index for the wiki ASAP. That's partially what Category pages are for--tomorrow I'll go through and add more categories as I can think of them, and start linking a few key ones on the front page. I'm also not sure if we really need separate pages for every single item--a page about Potions in general could cover most basic healing items (Grand Potion, Banana, Carrot, etc.), while more unique items or those with lots of lore behind them could get their own page (e.g. Ether Core, Zoot's Plaything, etc.). Thoughts? EDIT: Stupid mobile. Edited July 21, 2014 by Flipz Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I'm kind of curious to hear where everybody's at with their second character. After months of indecision I've finally settled on a single idea. I've got one for each basic class, but haven't been able to decide which one to use yet. My second characters will always be killable with one KO at the end of a battle, so I've got a few back logged. I actually like this idea and am considering using it as well. Quote
Sandy Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 Question, are resistances to positive/negative effects on gained effects, or all? For example if you had a Loaded die and you used a tiger balm would you still be lucky? These kind of questions should go to the Rules & FAQ -topic. But to answer it, Tiger Balm negates all effects, even permanent ones. It doesn't remove them, though, so in the next battle you would be lucky again. Are we ever going to see Obero "Blackgull" Bonaparte? He sounds like a total bad-megablocks. Yes you are. Quite soon, actually. My second characters will always be killable with one KO at the end of a battle, so I've got a few back logged. That kinda goes against the whole concept of Heroica, though. The Valkyrie granted the members immortality through the Nôrnian relics, so how are you going to explain that your character is not affected? Quote

Even though the above is canon, I've always thought of it as most of the time heroes are just knocked unconscious when they are KO'd, not actually killed. Quote
Sandy Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 Even though the above is canon, I've always thought of it as most of the time heroes are just knocked unconscious when they are KO'd, not actually killed. Yes, but that's partially thanks to the relics. NPCs can get killed (depending on the QMs choice) if they are KO'd at the end of the battle, after all. But nevertheless, heroes of Heroica shouldn't get killed (except by old age) as long as they are members of the organization. Quote

I get the relics thing, but if a player decides to kill off their character shouldn't they be able to do so? Just asking, for clarification but why was it established that heroes were immortal in the first place? Edited July 21, 2014 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Purpearljellyblob Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I wonder where Nerwen and Purpeal are from? I always imagine Purpearl to be a Wood Elf with human upbringing (for a few decades before she lives alone in the forests where her foster parents found her). She takes after some of the personality traits from her elvish parents from time to time and of course "epigenetics" play a huge part in her development as a person an elf. Quote
Myrddyn Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) That kinda goes against the whole concept of Heroica, though. The Valkyrie granted the members immortality through the Nôrnian relics, so how are you going to explain that your character is not affected? Could a character refuse to accept this blessing, perhaps viewing it as a sign of weakness? Is the blessing only in effect while the character is working towards the success of their quest - would it have been temporarily revoked in #84, for example, when some heroes chose to work against their employers? That's partially what Category pages are for--tomorrow I'll go through and add more categories as I can think of them, and start linking a few key ones on the front page. Thoughts? Shouldn't be too hard to copy the current pages on potions into one page. And I think we should still list special items like playthings, but link to their page if they have one.EDIT: There's really not much information on some of these pages. I put up a battle actions page, and a stats category, by the way. I can merge all the stats into one page if you want, but perhaps the weapon power page should be made into a weapon page, rather than being merged with stats? Gah, writing stuff isn't too hard, but deciding where to put the information is confusing. I'll leave that to the more experienced members of the community. Edited July 21, 2014 by Myrddyn Quote

His second character possibilities are currently NPCs and he plays his NPCs on hardcore mode to encourage PCs to think well about how they treat the sock puppets. When the time comes he'll promote his favourite (surviving) NPC to his second PC slot. Also, Nerwen views herself as a 'high' elf (still sorting out what that means in game). She's not particularly woodsy though she has lived rough when living in the Orc refugee camp for a decade. Mostly she's urban, cultured and quite well educated (by elvish standards, to say nothing of human standards). Edited July 21, 2014 by Chromeknight Quote
LordoftheNoobs Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I had thoughts of killing Grimwald off earlier, making him have a heart attack at the end of a particularly long and hard battle or something. I don't want to anymore, though. Still, the option would've been nice! Quote
