legobodgers Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 K-nut, you are no longer the only mage with a diamond. Also couldn't you extinguish fire in other ways, like using your sapphire to hold the air away from the fire and suffocate it? That seems to me like it would take less ether that moving all of that water. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 K-nut, you are no longer the only mage with a diamond. Also couldn't you extinguish fire in other ways, like using your sapphire to hold the air away from the fire and suffocate it? That seems to me like it would take less ether that moving all of that water. It would seem more probable, but then again couldn't one just move all the air away from the Elven troops and suffocate them? I guess it's more a matter of how seriously people play their roles (i.e. would a medieval mage know about the science of combustion?) But good thought. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 The Sapphire is actually master of Wind, not Air, so I'd say you wouldn't be able to create a vacuum, since wind on earth is movement of air. You also wouldn't be able to suffocate anyone, since you'd be moving the same air that everyone breathes. If it were master of Air, then I would let you create a vacuum or separate the oxygen from the air and suffocate everyone, but not with a gem that controls Wind. Of course, you could always make the wind blow really hard on the base of the fire, but that probably wouldn't save much more Ether than dousing the forest in water. Plus, once the fire gets big enough, the wind will just fan the flames and push them in the direction of the wind, and you could have a full-blown forest fire on your hands. Safer just to use the water. Or not put the Fire Bombs in the forest. Again, I don't want this to be thinking outside the box purely in the use of magic. Big thumbs-up to Flipz, who's trying to build defenses out of existing materials instead. Quote
Sandy Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 After this I probably won't ever QM again. Don't be so hard on yourself. At least you saw the quest to the end, and actively updated it. Like I said, there's nothing wrong with your hosting (after you got the hang of it), the problems were mostly on the items. This should be a lesson to all QMs: if you are unsure on how to create balanced items, just use the pre-created ones. There's no need to "invent the wheel again", so to speak. Quote

Captain's Sword WP:5 Suitable for Knights and Rogues. The sword is well used with many nicks and scraps but still sharp and effective for it's purpose. The blade has an inscription with two strange signs: Bricks and Parts of course! Quote
CMP Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Bricks, I believe you have to post your action, since you are getting revived. Quote

JimBee Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Hey Sandy, a while back I remember you posting some list of the house rivalries (showing that if you're good with one house you're bad with another, e.g. Hinckwells and Shadeaux). Do you think you could put that in a spot where it's easily accessible, such as the library? Quote

CMP Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Just to make sure, if an SP-enhancing artifact is worn on a Knight, does it stack with the actual Shield's SP? Quote
Sandy Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Just to make sure, if an SP-enhancing artifact is worn on a Knight, does it stack with the actual Shield's SP? Of course, why wouldn't it? It would actually be good if all knights and other people with SP would put a "Defense" stat on their character profile to easily show the QMs how much damage they can absorb. Mind you that this stat does NOT grow with a level up. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 The Hinckwells >< The Shadeaux These rivalries are based off Mafia, aren't they? So, since Dak is a Shadeaux, he doesn't get along with Hinckwells? That might be some interesting role-play....... Quote

Sandy Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 STATISTICS TIME!!! To my calculations, we currently have 72 players who have signed up for this game, out of which only 14 have not participated in a single quest yet (but are highly encouraged to do so!). Here's some statistics as to how those 72 people are didived. BY CHARACTER'S GENDER: Male: 57 Female: 14 Unknown: 1 BY JOB CLASS: BARBARIANS: Alf Gregory Eric Fenimor Vish Gorg Grush Shadina Impwrath Spag Bitterstalk Tarn Valco Tesni Hightribe Thormanil Nihai Xander Unth'or ---------- Total: 11 Male: 9 Female: 2 Unknown: 0 CLERICS: Barur Tormek Ellaria Arbour Haldor Skovgaard Maurice Ratibor Nerwen Calmcacil Rufindel Galadhras Sylph Solanum Tomas ---------- Total: 8 Male: 5 Female: 2 Unknown: 1 KNIGHTS: Ser Adelric Alexandre le Chevalier Sir Christopher Daggerfall Cronk Cynthia "Purple" Dragonwing Dinli of the Lonely Mountain Sir Gladius Stoat Sir Glorfindel Hoke Ablesword Lady Kara Linette Lord Kenneth Valise Knifk Lord Lawrence Boomingham Leo Aragon Maximus Glacuis Sir Sven Thrain Longbeard ---------- Total: 17 Male: 15 Female: 2 Unknown: 0 MAGES: Aberforth Swindle Ad-Hoh Althior Emorith Amorith Marvelo Arasmyth RuGard Arthur Justus Regulus VII Bob Cinna the Dark En Sabah Nur Namyrra Uq Nyx Sarick Lanse ---------- Total: 12 Male: 9 Female: 3 Unknown: 0 RANGERS: Alexis Fenral Bartholomew Docken Benji Carvenhall D'Eficcio Delfino Elgar Gligin Erdathcath Madilinas Keziah Blyth Skrall Trotter William Harkenshire ---------- Total: 10 Male: 7 Female: 3 Unknown: 0 ROGUES: Atramor Gibbin Dak Shadeaux De'kra Dyric Rone Galen Woodward Guts Holla Henry Sicariul Hybros Isabella del Toboso Jess Islanti Owen Belmont Ruitath Jast Sancho Praudfout Thothwick ---------- Total: 14 Male: 12 Female: 2 Unknown: 0 BY NAME (beginning with): A: 11 B: 4 C: 4 D: 5 E: 5 F: 1 G: 6 H: 4 I: 1 J: 1 K: 4 L: 2 M: 2 N: 3 O: 1 P: 0 Q: 0 R: 2 S: 7 T: 7 U: 0 V: 0 W: 1 X: 1 Y: 0 Z: 0 As can be seen from these statistics, Clerics and Rangers are the most underrepresented classes, and there's over four times as many male characters than there are females, although the females are spread quite equally among the job classes. Also, very few of the character names begin with a letter from the last quarter of the alphabets. Just something to consider for any new players signing in who want to create a character that stands out... But all in all, we've got an impressive amount of players with a whole plethora of interesting and unique characters, and the only way is up from here. Quote

Nice list, I thought there were a lot of rogues. Only the knights are more popular, but they have Cronk for inspiration. There are only two errors I see here, one being that Sylph has been referred to as a "he" a lot recently. But he could just be genderless and is using "he" as a way to seem more human. It is clear that in the quest before he started using male pronouns that some people found him disturbing, so he might be using it to seem more relatable. Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I thought there were more Rangers! Yeah they're definitely one of the cooler classes. Quote
