Asphalt Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I really need to read these quests. I am so lost right now. Quote
Zepher Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I've been thinking about that a lot, lately, playing as a new character and hosting some newer characters as well. We've generated a lot of content for Heroica, it's probably hard to catch up at this point. I think that's sort of fun, though - some things are left in mystery! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I can't believe Dreamscape is almost over already. It's been great. Battles have been very well set up, similar to the "short but dangerous" style that I've advocated (Even if still, MegaBlok these Passive Specials. ), you've had some puzzles, you've had some mystery, you've integrated some of our skills outside of battle, and it's moved at a very enjoyable pace. You guys've been a pleasure to host, too; I got really lucky and picked a great group. I don't think I gave you as much opportunity to interact with eachother. I might be able to remedy that yet. We'll see. I'll save the rest of my thoughts for the QM Louge after we're done; I've surprisingly got a lot to say. Got any suggestions on what are the "must reads?" Anything you participate in is a must-read. Other than that, if your character doesn't know about it, what good it is that you do? Sometimes it's best to learn about some things in-character instead of out-of-character-- ask about it in-character if it's mentioned, and if it interests you after that, you can read about it. There's nothing that's really a "must-read," at least in my book. After you've been here a while and want to follow certain characters or plots, Quests featuring them will be must-reads as well. Quote
Zepher Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 That's a good way to phrase it! I feel like it's hard for me to advise quests since I've been here from the beginning, but yes, if you hear a plot/character the interests you, you should certainly go back and read about it! At this point a huge number of the quests are interwoven. We've tried to put together a comprehensive list before, as far as learning about the world is concerned, but it's difficult. Quote

Yeah, it saddens me that I haven't been able to read every quest the way I used to. Not that it was unexpected, because I knew that that was what would happen once I started university last year, but there are so many storylines and characters and good loot that I'm unaware of... (not to mention all the useful out-of-character knowledge for Docken) Quote
Emjajoas Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Good loot is what's really important, though, right? Quote
Flipz Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Funny you speak of loot, actually, Doc, there's some quite decent stuff dropped and soon-to-be-dropped in 104 if you're willing to shell out the Gold for it. From what I gather, some of them have been very savvy in that regard. Got any suggestions on what are the "must reads?" While I agree with Em to an extent, there are definitely a few "must-reads" in my opinion. First of all, any Quest in which a new House is introduced is really important, as it REALLY helps in explaining what the Houses are and what influence they have on the world (thus, 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 15, 34, and 50/51). Additionally, ALL of the Wolfgang-arc Quests (6, 33, 44, 66, and 100) are important reading--the Wolfgang are the "main story" of Heroica, after all, at least according to Word of Sandy. Finally, pretty much every Quest Sandy has done has had some sort of major impact on the world, and for pure enjoyment factor I'd also recommend reading the Dastan Trilogy (though that sort of requires its own separate reading guide since it has ties from 4, 7, 17, 18, and 19 all up in there ). Actaeon Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 The big reason for me to read quests is so that when I eventually host one, I can make sure that something similar hasn't already been done. Quote

That's true, but you can also remedy that by talking to the other QMs about what kind of ideas you have. Takes a lot less effort, too, and other people's input is always great. Quote
Palathadric Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 In a shocking twist, Retak Ysp has been revived and is now the King of the Underworld! I miss PsyKater! and HerrJJ too. Quote
KotZ Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I just put up the first battle for 110. Gah I'm hoping it fits and seems right. Quote
Asphalt Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I would definitely say it falls into the slightly controversial range of fights. Quote
Zepher Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Yeah, serious moral decision. But cool! And see, Asphalt, my required reading would be almost entirely different than Flipz's, so that's why it's best to just read what you think is most interesting to you! Everyone plays the game differently - I love the stories, so I read every quest, but I know that some players strictly only read the quests they're on, and some read whatever the heck they feel like! So it's really up to you. Quote
Asphalt Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Trying to take the moral high ground, but still kick some cloaca. Quote
Palathadric Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Shucks! If Posco dies I'm killing Hybros! Quote
JimBee Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Shucks! If Posco dies I'm killing Hybros! Well then you better hope he's not as utilitarian as Hybros is. Quote
Flipz Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Ugh...Zepher, I hereby promise never to needle you about Triad ever again. Quote
Actaeon Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Wait, so if I consume something the VERY last move in a battle, and SECOND last move over everyone, I lose that? Please no? Wouldn't the effects (realistically) be there a few seconds later? I used venom as well and never even shot. Wouldn't my venom still be on my arrows? Quote

Wouldn't the effects (realistically) be there a few seconds later? I used venom as well and never even shot. Wouldn't my venom still be on my arrows? That is, unfortunately, just the way effects work. If the Battle Order for Round 3 had been changed, it could have been a different story--Diana still would have killed Sirone, but neither you nor Kiray would have had to use your items. However, no new Battle Order was given, so I used the one that had been given to me for the previous Round. Quote
Tachyon Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Huh, is #104 ending soon ? If it is, I might sign off quest #111 so that lower levelled players can join. Quote
Flipz Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Huh, is #104 ending soon ? If it is, I might sign off quest #111 so that lower levelled players can join. 104 should be ending soon--probably not in time for 111 (unless Khorne extends the sign-ups), but without a doubt it should be in time for 112. As a bonus, so long as they keep Darius alive they'll get Shadeaux rep, meaning if they get on to 112 they could potentially be primed for Dragoon-hood before they even hit the Advanced Classes.
