joeshmoe554 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Your best bet (if Overkill is a concern for you) is to get Benji separated from the rest of the party, or else to implement a Dreamscape (Quest 109)-esque method of directed damage reduction via Passive Specials. or turn him into a newt. Kintobor Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 or turn him into a newt. I really should flaunt that spell around a bit more, seeing as how the only time I've ever used it was on a Grim Reaper. Quote
Flare Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I really should flaunt that spell around a bit more, seeing as how the only time I've ever used it was on a Grim Reaper. Not on Benji! And come on people! Let me enjoy the overkill gloves! Quote
Asphalt Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 But I do enjoy the part where he says you share with the rest of us. :) Quote
StickFig Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 “Ah, how is that Magic Compass I sold you working for you?” “Haven’t had a chance to use it yet to be honest.” “Eh? So you’re not here to complain about it being broken like the others?” “What? Is it common that they don’t work?” Oh no, of course not, no QM would ever make a Magic Compass not work! Genius little nugget there, Palathadric. But I do enjoy the part where he says you share with the rest of us. :) Exactly! And don't think that sharing has to stay within the party, either! Quote

Flare Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) Or you could give those gloves to Kiray when she and Benji are in the Hall again. It depends what kind of amazing loot will be found in #110 that would make Benji feel that the overkill gloves are his lame pair of gloves Anyways Benji doesn't own the Overkill Gloves, they are on loan from Galen. But he rarely checks around so he probably wouldn't notice that I lent them to someone else (or care, as long as he gets his tithe) (and in the case that you're reading and are not as inactive as I thought, then don't worry ) Edited September 7, 2014 by Flare Quote

Also, 110ers, you guys have some horrible luck with these rolls. Quote

Asphalt Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I havn't. And that "Light Armor" is going to be usable by a cleric right? Quote
Palathadric Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Or you could give those gloves to Kiray when she and Benji are in the Hall again. A knight only hits something on two out of six rolls, so good luck with getting your money's worth out of those gloves. Quote

I was hoping they'd be given as a gift. Also, Kiray is at Level 10 right now, so five more levels and she can access the advanced classes, which allow more than two chances for hits. Quote

Kintobor Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Paladin's a cool class and all, but I doubt Annie's going to be taking it. I kind of want to go either Warden or Black Knight, but I'm not entirely sure yet since unlike Karie where I knew I wanted her to go Minstrel, Annie's a bit more open to influence. That being said, which of our knight based advanced classes has the most heroes in it? I'd assume Paladin or Black Knight, but I could be wrong. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Speaking of advanced classes, if everything on 103# goes moderately well, I may be able to reach level 15 by the time we're done. I've been trying to figure out what advanced class Lind should train in. I liked the extra gold that a Raider can nab, but since Lind is sticking to throwing cards as his weapon of choice, the front-row stance doesn't seem to really work for his build*. I was thinking that Assassin would probably be the best choice. *If this were an MMOG, he'd be a ranged fighter. Edit: "Reads Dragoon bio" "Can only wield polearms..." I don't suppose there's any chance of ever letting them wield throwing weapons? I'd really like to be able to use the dragon PC I created, but Lind's throwing cards are sort of central to his character... Second Edit: On further thought, I realize just why Dragoons carry polearms. If I'm riding around on a dragon and wearing heavy armor it doesn't make sense to be carrying much else. I was picturing PC dragons as being about the size of small eagles, not ships. Edited September 8, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote
CMP Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 You wouldn't do as well as you could if you were an Assassin by using throwing weapons. If you're adamant about sticking to the throwing cards (you'd be missing out on some actual effect-dealing weapons) I would actually recommend Raider, or perhaps Black Knight. Classes also don't change because one person wants it. I think the idea behind Dragoon is a typical lance-wielding horseman taken to the next level. Quote

True, there are effect-dealing weapons...but there are also quest options on occasion/consumables that can add effects to equipment. When you think it over, there are distinct benefits(and, I'll admit, a few drawbacks) to just having two pairs of weapons that are your sole focus for improving. Thanks for the recommendation - I'll definitely take Raider into mind again. Quote
CMP Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 True, there are effect-dealing weapons...but there are also quest options on occasion/consumables that can add effects to equipment. When you think it over, there are distinct benefits(and, I'll admit, a few drawbacks) to just having two pairs of weapons that are your sole focus for improving. Those are infinitely more rare, however. It's common practice to focus on multiple weapons. I have two very useful ones. My point is that as a very new player the odds are extremely good that you'll find a better (statistically, anyway) weapon than your garden variety store-bought one. Off the top of my head only Eric (he poured all his money and gems into it) and Ellaria (who isn't a weapon-focused class anyway and lucked out on a rare weapon enhancement) still use their original weapons. Quote
Flipz Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 The main advantage of throwing weapons over melee is survivability--Black Knight is better suited for that task (not to mention that the added SP will help a lot when retrieving your weapons, since all thrown weapons must be retrieved from the Front Row. Quote
Chromeknight Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 The other thing is that, as long as you keep the weapon's stats(including it's weapon class), it's in game description is mutable. So if you find a lovely throwing weapon, say Wicked Javelin (WP: 7, throwing weapon, retreivable, 1/6 chance to slow) Then with a little hand waving Ethereal Deck(Playing Cards) (WP:3, throwing weapon) Wicked Javelin (WP: 7, throwing weapon, retreivable, 1/6 chance to slow) Becomes Ethereal Deck(Playing Cards) (WP: 7, throwing weapon, retreivable, 1/6 chance to slow) Wicked Javelin (WP:3, throwing weapon) Probably best to do it in the marketplace topic and keep a record of the post where you did it so if anyone asks you're above board. Zepher Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Unfortunately this is pretty indicative of my weekends for the next few months. I will try to update as often as I can, but Saturday/Sunday may not adhere perfectly to the 24 hour rule. Other than that, things should swim along pretty normally - and both my quests are about 3/4th of the way done anyway! Quote

Same here - weekends are unpredictable and irregular - I'll often not have time to respond but I'll do my best to keep it reasonable. I am loving the side quests by the way, to respond to your comment earlier about them. Quote
