Lind Whisperer Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 If the dragon's name was Greater Fire Dragon, then it would be passable. There is no Decamon card for a Fire Dragon, anyway, but nice try. I can give you a hint that most of the monsters on the Decamon cards can be found on the Fields of Glory (not all, though). If the monster is not applicable to be modified, nothing happens. What would happen if the monster's name combined two different elements? Like a Holy Fire Ghost Monk? Quote
Sandy Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 But think of the possibilities. No longer would a person with a Decamodifier have to worry about being the last person standing(with the assumption that the monster is down to quarter health/that he can be taken down solo to quarter health). One battle turn, and he is gone. And since Allies automatically revive after battle, you don't need to worry about Phoenix Essences... What are you talking about? There are only 100 Decamon cards, while there's are countless different enemies with more added in the game each quest. What would happen if the monster's name combined two different elements? Like a Holy Fire Ghost Monk? No, you cannot get two cards out of one monster. Quote
swils Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) Could anyone give me a quick synopsis of, or a link to one, of what decamon is (beyond a ccg within a fantasy game, heh). I'm on mobile atm else I'd go hunting for info myself. Are there deck battles? Are there opportunities to use your deck/collection outside of QM specified encounters on a given quest? Edit Guh, and as im slowly fumbling with my phone, sandy gets a message up partially answering it. Edited September 23, 2014 by swils Quote
Bricksandparts Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Also, what is the lore of the tool, at this point? What are you talking about? There are only 100 Decamon cards, while there's are countless different enemies with more added in the game each quest. But you said we would have to use trial and error. By that logic, someone could get a boss down to 1/4 health, and fearing they'd fail the quest, use it on him, regardless if it turns him into a card. Quote
Flipz Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 What does having the card do or transforming the monster? Decamon is a minigame introduced in Quest 100. A lot of us expressed interest, so Sandy is expanding on the concept. Quote

It's a "card game" I invented for Quest#100. I already gave a link to the related Wiki-page a few posts up, but here it is again. Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) Also, what is the lore of the tool, at this point? We could either make up some boring explanation for it or go with my personal favourite, the: "I don't know therefore magic" approach. Edited September 23, 2014 by Pyrovisionary Quote

Of course, I should have guessed that there was a limit... No, you cannot get two cards out of one monster. I meant, which element would trump? If there was an Dark Flying Eagle, Dark would obviously trump Flying, as per the rules, and that would be the card, but what if it was an Aquatic Icy Ness? Neither Aquatic nor Icy has any effect on each other*. *Of course, Icy trumps Electric, which trumps Aquatic, so maybe that isn't the best example... Quote

If the boss doesn't already exist as a Decamon card, nothing will happen. Additionally, it's using an item on an enemy, which doesn't count as targeting, so they'd still get their Free Hit. Quote

The cards are predetermined, and each card has only one type, no matter of the types of the monster it represents. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I hereby coin a new slang term for Heroica: going tourist ~ When a player ignores stated battle order/the party's general well-being in favor of trying to get a rare Decamon card. (I was imagining people running around the Fields taking pictures like they were tourists on a safari.) Quote

Pyrovisionary Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) Anyone got any creative ideas on what to use Quest #100's 1000 gold reward on? I could upgrade the scissors to Wp:25, my Shield to Sp:17, or try and get back to the consumable shop in Vega and buy 20 grating stones - Goddammit revealed my plan to Sandy again! It depends on how long you're going to keep using either the Scissors or the Shield. But I'd definitely try and get back to Vega. Quote

Could buy 10 Bright Polish and sell them to me at a 20% profit, then use the money to upgrade your stuff even more (though that would take time since I'd have to raise more funds, but it's possible ). I'm afraid a Wp:41 Demonic scissors is just too much of an amazement. (And a better upgrade than reselling polish I'm afraid.) But it's never going to happen let's be honest. Sarge is on bad enough relations with vega as it is, Secondly we're probably getting payed back in Eubric and thirdly, Sandy'd never allow it. It depends on how long you're going to keep using either the Scissors or the Shield. But I'd definitely try and get back to Vega. From a roleplay perspective, one should base the weapon around the character and his/her whims... But I can't roleplay for crap because my personal opinion keeps on getting on the way. Whatsmore the Scissors are just to OP to give up. Think of it like an addiction... But to a fantasy weapon. So the scissors are what I'm basing what class I go on. And it'll probably be staying black knight because it's just such a good niche for Sarge. Edited September 23, 2014 by Pyrovisionary Quote

That's why I keep refusing to consider using anything besides the Ethereal Decks, except in an emergency. Focus on one item(or on two), and keep improving it. Not to mention, I like how it keeps Lind simultaneously stereotyped as a rogue, but unique. Quote

If the gold were in Babeleth, I honestly would have bought those grating stones. Maybe not 20 of them, but even just spending half the reward on them gets me to a good point with my weapon and some extra gold left for consumables and/or buffing up my defense. Lind Whisperer Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Quick question: how long ago was the current banner made? A while ago...The only player I recognize on it is Nyx. The mustached knight(?) with the great-sword and the orc with club seem familiar, but I can't place them... Quote
Flipz Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Several of the Test Questers are on the banner (Shadina Impwrath, Nyx, and Rufindel Galadhras are the only ones I can see at my current screen resolution), but the rest are random fantasy figures unrelated to actual player characters. Quote
