UsernameMDM Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I'm pretty sure that it has not been 2-3 years of consistent playing, Khorne... If you had been playing consistently for two or three years you'd be close or at the requirement... Guaranteed, pretty much. Unless you've been on Zepher quests or spent a significant time in the Fields of Glory. Quote

If you had been playing consistently for two or three years you'd be close or at the requirement... Guaranteed, pretty much. You're right, it's has not been 3 years of consistent playing (definitely not ). I think it's around 2 years of playing. It's just an idea or a thought that popped into my mind, because the way it is now you either have played a lot of quests OR you have hosted some. There is no middle ground that mixes both. Like I said, I'm fine with the way it is, but it'd still be cool to a be able to get a second character sooner . Quote
Sandy Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Alchemist Ellaria, here we come! Thanks for choosing me, Flipzter. Having hosted some battles for Orel and having quested with Throlar for the past three quests, I think my next character will be a knight. I really like the class and I've got some great ideas for a character. Too bad I'm nowhere near the prerequisites yet . I know you've already made the rules for a second character more lenient, but perhaps a requirement in the middle ground of the current requirements could also be possible? So next to the currently two available requirements you could have a third one: having participated in 10 Quests AND having hosted 1 (or 2, whatever) Quests. It also show dedication for the game, IMO. I understand where you're coming from, but your suggestion opens a can of worms I'd rather not open again. You'll just have to keep showering us with your magnificent quests in the future. In other news: Lo and behold, my next two quests are now open for sign-ups! Just choose your side: the valiant Bonapartes or the noble Ji Pei. To those who might be scared off by my last couple of quests, these two will be of the short'n'sweet category - very streamlined, very focused, and very delicious. Quote
Endgame Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Time to rumble against the dream team, 105ers! Quote

Flipz Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I, personally, think Diplomacy and Command should be treated more as a passive skill than an active one (i.e. used automatically unless the player states it's not being used)--the way Animal Talk is usually automatic unless specified otherwise. On the other hand, though, Intimidation is definitely something that SHOULD require a manual trigger, since (with one or two exceptions) most Heroes wouldn't want to be constantly growling at and otherwise intimidating everyone around them all the time. Quote
StickFig Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 .... I think that for all three (Diplomacy, Command, and Intimidation) there are both passive and active effects - for instance, a character who isn't intimidating by nature (i.e. Matthias) will not be able to (captial "I") Intimidate. A character who isn't diplomatic won't be able to ...do Diplomacy? What I'm tying to say is that for all three there should be a lesser, passive form (a character with the Command trait should have a strong presence, etc), and a more forceful, active form. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I just bold Diplomacy to remind the QMs of a subjective ability. Wondering if Hoke didn't have Diplomacy, if his persistence would have been similarly rewarded. Quote
Zepher Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I agree with both MDM and StickFig. EDIT: I'm also glad I'm taking a break from QMing for a little after 102. I think I need it. I want to focus on my PCs for a bit now, and also clear my head and prepare the final few stories I want to tell. And maybe give everyone a break from me too. Quote

Khorne Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I understand where you're coming from, but your suggestion opens a can of worms I'd rather not open again. I understand. I was just throwing an idea out in the open . You'll just have to keep showering us with your magnificent quests in the future. Hah, thanks! Guess I'll have to try and do that, then . This'll be the first of your Bonaparte quests not to feature Eric. Which is funny, because they are looking for heroes with a high Bonaparte and I think Eric is one of the few with the highest possible Bonaparte rep. It's ironic considering how much he actually loathes the House . Quote
Flipz Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Hoke investigates the back stage....The paper is simply a newspaper with the reviews of the current production. Looks like Oswald Brickspit is getting fired soon. That's against union rules, that is. Quote
Emjajoas Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Hate to reiterate again, but I'm still looking for someone willing to build sets for my quest. If anyone's got the time and resources, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks! Quote

Zepher Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Happy Halloween all! I've got a packed day of celebrating/buying candy, so there MAY not be a update today, but I will try depending on when the actions get in! You should all go have a spooky scary fun day too. Quote
Palathadric Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 "Question, barkeep, can this food be packed to go?" Or, in other words, do we have to use it the instant we buy it? Never ask the QM. Just making sure, since Bo is hastened, if we all target him we won't be hit from a free hit correct? Wrong. A hastened enemy will always get at least one free hit unless he isn't targeted, in which case he/she will get two. Quote
Flipz Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 >Sir Leonard Kniveton vs. Pongcanis Warlock — Critical Hit ((7*2+34)/2-6=18 Damage; Assistance: Atramor, Namyrra, Monk Pretzel, Dyric, and Luke now Encouraged) >Luke heals Dyric Rone — Shield: Magical Vortex (3+29=32 Health restored to all allies; no Damage dealt — Luke has no elemental gems; Luke: -2 Ether) Actually, Luke only uses 1 Ether since he has no gems; I asked that question of Mallelio for similar reasons in 104. Also, is that how Assistance works? I had assumed that it goes into effect immediately at the beginning of the Round, but your way makes sense as well; I assume that if the Skirmisher or his allies change Rows the Assistance doesn't wear off until the Skirmisher's action actually takes place? (I.E. a Skirmisher could attack from the Back Row with a bunch of Ranged characters at the top of Round 1, and then he could retrieve his thrown polearm [mandatory Front Row] at the end of the Round 2 but the others would still be Assisted?) Quote
KotZ Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Wrong. A hastened enemy will always get at least one free hit unless he isn't targeted, in which case he/she will get two. Ah ok. Thanks. Quote

It did go into effect at the beginning of the Round — note the multiplier in Pretzel's Hit. I just decided to make note of it in Leonard's action. I should probably change that; it's confusing. Quote

I just decided to make note of it in Leonard's action. I should probably change that; it's confusing. Maybe make a note of it at the top of the Round? I like the idea of noting Assistance (would certainly help me in running Skirmishers), but as you and I both pointed out it is confusing when noted in-line. Out of curiosity (and now that I'm thinking about it), why does Assistance apply Encouraged instead of simply doubling the Assisted Heroes' attack power (i.e. allowing it to stack with Encouraged)? Was it simply to reduce multiplier stacking, or was there some other reason? Quote
