Palathadric Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Ooc: I was originally going to have Grimwald cast Scroll of Sleep and keep the King asleep while we killed the spiders, except Sleep does not affect Specials. Um... not sure what you mean, but Sleep does affect specials. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Um... not sure what you mean, but Sleep does affect specials. Scroll of Sleep – Enables casting the sleep-effect to the target, forcing it to miss its turn for three rounds or until woken up by an attack. Each casting has a 50% chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. It would prevent him from rolling a special, but it wouldn't affect his Encouraging. I appear to have gotten my terms a bit mixed up. Rat King *Encourages beasts and vermin as long as it lives* *Encouraged* Type: Beast/Vermin Level: 12 24 Health: 112/112 Special: Reign of Disgust – Causes poisoned by 12-, confused- and afraid-effects to all opponents. Drops: Remedy I was originally hoping that Grimwald could put it to sleep, negating the Encouraging, and we could CC the spiders before focusing on him. Since Sleep wouldn't affect the Encouraging, I had everyone target him to take him out instead. Quote
Kintobor Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Then you're getting nailed with Free Hits. A whole lot of Free Hits. Quote
Flipz Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Does anyone remember who invented the Doomed-effect? I'm working to get a list of all effects, with hex codes, into the lower spoiler in my Hero Stats post (as part of my long-standing campaign against the rich text editor ), but the only color I've found for Doomed so far is a purple used in 75 that I'm not exactly a fan of. (It's the same color I use for Mallora as the narrator in 118, and it seems to be a generic placeholder for negative effects that don't yet have an assigned color.) I plan to slowly begin converting the colors in my stats to official Sandy colors from the Rules & FAQ topic, with a few exceptions (such as my colors for Light and Sealed, which I prefer to the official ones, along with possibly Jinxed). For now, I have a list of all Sandy colors with hex codes except the one for Doomed (and possibly a few effects that I've forgotten that aren't listed in the FAQ) in my Hero Statistics page, if anyone wants to use them. Kintobor Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I think it's the automatic black just bolded. Quote
Endgame Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I set it to the actual Bolded Black as opposed to the Automatic Black. Quote
Flipz Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Oh, I know the automatic bolded black is what the FAQ currently shows, but that's boring; I seem to recall the effect being a shade of brown or tan when it was first introduced, and I'd like to use that for my own uses. Quote
Sandy Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Does anyone remember who invented the Doomed-effect? I invented the doomed-effect, and it's bolded black in all my files. You can use another color if you wish, it doesn't really matter. Quote

Zepher Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 As I said last week, I am directing a short film this weekend. I only get this opportunity a few days every year, because it's very expensive. So I may be a little spotty tonight and tomorrow. EDIT: So I am ready to run a round, but if it gets in much later I will have to wait until late tomorrow evening, unfortunately. Quote

StickFig Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Thank you, it did, and I'm back now! Awesome on all counts. Quote
Flipz Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Cloak of the Barbaric Runecaster (SP: 3; wearer creates and deploys a Skeleton Decoy at the start of every battle; suitable for Battle Mages, Necromancers, and Scholars; Backwear) — This simple cloak was woven for a barbaric Ether-user who enchanted it and passed it down through his generations of apprentices. Where the hell was this on Quest 53?! Quote
Zepher Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 It's alright, you have another finale to get through! And XX almost bit it in this one... literally survived by the skin of his teeth - would have been way cooler if he'd died, I had a whole speech planned for him. Quote
JimBee Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 What of you? Did you act from fear or love when you killed Avertine? "What say you, Nerwen? Can you accept an enemies blessing? Can you choose love over fear?" So in other words, followed by . Seriously though, I am glad we're reaching the end of 102, (mostly) not because of how long it's been, but because we get to see the full consequences of the heroes' choices. I'll have more t say when it's over, but suffice to say these are "Nerwen moments" that you hope for when something big happens on a quest with her. It's alright, you have another finale to get through! He was KO'd at the end of the battle, right? Quote
Zepher Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 He actually weirdly had one health. It was a bizzaro situation, but incapacitated was basically a way to knock them out of the battle without killing the NPCs. And I've sadly never seen Donnie Darko. Quote
Chromeknight Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) JimB, I can't see the first link.Changed devices. As for XX, Nerwen burned 5 ether to heal him, though we haven't seen his stats yet, so who knows what effects near-death has had on him. Dannie Darko is my wife's favourite movie. I'd forgotten about this scene! Ta for the reminder. @Zeph, not seen Donnie Darko? Aren't you a film student?!? Everyone will understand if you go afk for a couple of hours and rectify this shocking lapse in your education! Edited November 11, 2014 by Chromeknight Quote
Zepher Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 People often use the "aren't you a film student" exclamation every time I admit not seeing any film. It would be like if you found out someone was a lit major and then was shocked to discover a book they hadn't read . Not that I shouldn't take movie recommendations, it's just always funny to me (and something I would/totally still do). I will watch Donnie Darko ASAP... as soon as I finish up a quest and get some free times on my hands. Quote

Or when other film students use it when they mention some obscure French New Wave or other film that you watch in one specific class that isn't required. Quote
Flipz Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Imagine being a theatre major who hasn't memorized all of Shakespeare. ...oh, the irony. ...sorry, posted before I was ready. It's ironic that Nerwen blames the drugs when it's the decision to go with /7 that even made the strategy viable; under the *10 rules the Aventine party would have won handily. Quote

Do you think she has Dockens Disease that she'd be able to make an observation like that? But seriously would it have made that much of a difference? I was going to run it myself for my own interest, but if you've got the numbers already I'd be keen to see them. Quote

It's ironic whether or not Nerwen has the ability to recognize it. I'll likely run the numbers soon enough, but Aventine had a guaranteed damage output of 125 against Chauncey versus Chauncey's of only 74. Even if Chauncey's HP had been calculated like a player's and multiplied by 10 (giving him 700-800-ish HP), he'd have been down in 6 or 7 Rounds compared to the 8 or 9 Rounds it would have taken to finish off Aventine--and that's not counting the damage you, Matthias, and Purpearl would have been inflicting in the meantime. Even with her massive Level and WP advantage, Alexis couldn't have tipped the scales; at most, she could have Inspired Chauncey, and in response your side's healing could have kept Aventine up indefinitely. Granted, I'm glad Chauncey won, but this battle definitely shows that the division system is inherently unfair, as it gives those with SP FAR too much of an advantage over their opponents, not to mention how ineffectual it makes the weaker Heroes. Stick Fig, you've participated in two PvP battles using the division system. Did you feel any more powerful in this one than you did in the last one, given that your Level had increased since then AND the divisor was less? Quote

It's pretty normal (as far as I can tell) for heroes to face enemies a few levels higher than them with 700-800 hp.... Edited November 12, 2014 by StickFig Quote
