Sandy Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 If no one has ever re-read early Heroica, it really is a treat. I'm going through some of the earlier quests to complete Boomingham's bio for the wiki (more for my benefit than anyone else's) and stumbled upon a wonderful tid-bit from Quest #8 in which the Ji Pei are described as "Eastern Raiders" by Cathargo, only to be changed to another totally unrelated faction about three fourths into the quests running time, clearly by Sandy's request because that is not at all what the Ji Pei are. It's hilarious because we didn't know what that house was back then, and also a real testament to the lore we've created in the intermittent time-span - no one would mistake the Ji Pei for raiders at this point. Haha, that's so cool! I didn't even remember that myself! Quote
K-Nut Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I'm just going to ask it here, since the QM Lounge doesn't really seem like the place for it, but when or how did Althior die and get resurrected? I must've missed that, because I can't seem to recall reading that. I only remember Althior as the comical mage aided by Finnegan and having some ties with Abraxas. I did that to him right before I had him change to Necromancer; sometime between my last trip to the Fields and Quest #68 (so around March of 2013 I think). There isn't really a post or anything describing what happened exactly, though. I remember Finnegan coming in and telling Haldor what happened and that was really all I did with it, seeing as I like to keep it a constant mystery tormenting Althior (at least for now). Quote
Asphalt Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Sorry to be so late to the party. I just started Vindsval's page. Quote
Palathadric Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 :laugh_hard:The old quests are great fun to read. But then it's sad that so many great players are no longer with us. Quote
Flipz Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 *Whew*, lots of code-fixing that Round. I really shouldn't have run the previous rounds tired. Quote
Sandy Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Announcement: I'm leaving to Berlin, Germany to celebrate the turning of the New Year, so updates will be sporadic until the 1st of January. Related to that, my boyfriend bought us tickets to the Legoland Discovery Center in Berlin as a Christmas gift, so I hope I'll come home with at least a couple of new sets. The center itself seems to be more aimed at younger FOLs than me. Quote

Cutcobra Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) Out of all the "factions" in #93 I find Rogues the most interesting. I'm glad they are making a reappearance. Edited December 28, 2014 by Cutcobra Quote
Sandy Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Don't think you're even allowed in without a kid. Haha, I sure hope they give my bf his money back in that case. It doesn't say anything like that anywhere on the website, though. Out of all the "factions" in #93 I find Rogues the most interesting. I'm glad they are making a reappearance. Thanks! I felt they needed more screentime after their short appearance in #93, and they were pretty easy to tie with the Wolfgang storyline. Quote

I remember reading about it here on EB a while back. If I remember correctly though, the store is not directly connected to the attraction so hopefully you'll still be able to shop! Quote
Zepher Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Boo. CMP, give me an hour or two to try to throw together a hand that stands a chance at surviving. (Sorry, the boo was not towards the game, it's to that silly rule about kids). Quote

Well, thank you for notifying us and saving us the trip there and back. We'll get our money back one way or another. At least there's a LEGO Store in downtown Berlin - we don't have one in Finland, so it's always a treat to visit a city that has one. Quote
Flipz Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Welp, thus ends Dragoon Arthur for now. Really thought this class would be more fun to play. The roleplay is fantastic, but it's so limited in battle--not at all what I was expecting. Also, good to know about Aura not stacking. It reads "doubles current health regardless of maximum health," so it's not an unreasonable expectation that it would double an already - doubled HP amount, but as 37 showed, it can get a little ridiculous. I have to say, if Do survives much longer, we'll have to call him "Daring Do". Quote
Endgame Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 But what will become of Arthur's dragon? Quote
CMP Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 But what will become of Arthur's dragon? She'll turn into a Zoot's Plaything too for easy transport. In all seriousness though, Dragoon's dragon attacks need a damage boost, Dragon Aid and the first two Shield rolls are completely impotent against the kind of enemies heroes face at Levels 30-40. I specify damage boost only because I still like the idea of the evolving Shield roll. Quote

I specify damage boost only because I still like the idea of the evolving Shield roll. I wouldn't mind Dragon Aid getting replaced with something more like Petit Breath, or even better evolving like the SHIELD roll does--it's a bit underwhelming to roll a 4 for poor Thormanil in 118 and realize that he's nearly 10 levels higher than me and yet is only doing 10 more damage on the same roll. I think the biggest problem with the Dragon is that there's nothing the player can do to improve it. Have great weapons? Cool story, bro, you've got a 1/6 chance to actually hit with it in a given Round. Got a sweet tank build? That's nice, let's take you out of the picture with your mechanically best roll (High Assault). Oh, you're Encouraged now? That's okay, your Dragon isn't. Literally the only thing you can do is try to level up so your Dragon gets stronger; WP, effects, and non-dragon elements don't matter, and SP and immunities only matter for you personally (since you can't reliably tank Free Hits). That said, I do think we need some more testing to see what exactly the Dragoon can and can't do, and what exactly would make it better. I know we've jokingly talked about an all - Dragoon Fields run of me, Thormanil, and Hoke, but maybe running a test scenario of that exact thing would be a good way to see just what we need to do to fix the class. It's probably also worth noting that in 118 so far I've balanced around Ellaria, Hybros, and Docken, but not Thormanil. Food for thought. Quote

JimBee Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Welcome to the game, bioniclefanatic. I saw that you fixed your character's stats to only have one shuriken, so I think everything checks out. Of course, you'll need a picture before you can go on a quest. Zepher, really nice work on Boomingham's wiki page so far. PC pages can be really handy for keeping track of people's stories. Boomers is one that I tend to read and follow more closely, yet there were already a few surprises for me on the wiki. Such as, the fact that his son was named Bartholomew. At first I thought of some relation to our resident tank-among-tanks, but then I remember his angel. Cool connection there. ...And now I've been inspired to update Hybros' page. At any rate, it will be good to read back to the old quests. It definitely is a trip to see how different things were back then. Quote
