Flipz Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 The problem with the Decamodifier is that enemies that can be Decamodified with it are extremely rare. In the entirely (admittedly short) time I've been playing, I can only remember seeing three of them in quests(Battle Ant in the FOG fields, Cloud Gigas and Thunderbird in #120). It's worth the 15 GP it costs, in the chance you do come across an enemy you can card, but just barely. You have a very narrow experience with the Fields, and are discounting that many QMs re-use enemies from the Fields of Glory in their own Quests. Trust me, they are not very rare at all. If anything, the Decamodifiers are the rare things. We need a few more dropped outside the Fields, just to even things out. Quote
Sandy Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 I still think that ties should not be a thing in Decamon; the card played first should win in case of a tie. This makes playing a high card first risky, but not downright suicidal; furthermore, it makes Ethereal 1 useful (marginally so, but still useful), and prevents the higher-level Ethereal cards from being downright unbeatable. In the interest of keeping Decamon a simple game that is easily manageable, this is the first suggestion that might actually work well. Something similar was suggested earlier, but only for the first round which seemed arbitrary. Maybe doing away with ties altogether would indeed be the best solution. I was also thinking about Elemental Momentum, meaning that the cards played earlier in the match with the same element would boost the current card with their number. It would give more meaning to hands with a single-element, but of course it wouldn't negate trumping. For example: 1st Round: Magic Carp (Aquatic 1) 2nd Round: Firefly (Fiery 2) 3rd Round: Wishing Starfish (Aquatic 4) +1 from Magic Carp 4th Round: Flamboa (Fiery 5) +2 from Firefly 5th Round: Shy Shell (Aquatic 2) +5 from Magic Carp and Wishing Starfish But I'll have to figure out if it really works or not... Myrddyn Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Yeah I don't really like a lot of those complicated ideas either - as it stands, Decamon is a lot of luck, but there is still room for strategy to increase your chances of winning. Some of those cards would make strategy next to impossible. Flipz' First Card rule looks pretty good to me - the other idea I've had would be to add a card that trumps Ethereal but is in turn trumped by every element. I don't think there'd be any point having it in different numbers, since it would either trump or be trumped unless it was played against itself. Maybe something like "Iron Blade," since I believe traditionally iron is sometimes considered the antithesis of magic or evil spirits. Elemental Momentum looks cool, I think it would be a good addition to the game, or at least worth trying out, since currently I think a well-balanced hand of cards is much better than all one or two suit/s. LordoftheNoobs Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I like the elemental momentum idea, seems a shame that Pokémon didn't think of that one - the gym leaders would maybe have actually not been total pushovers! Anyway, it seems like it could work. Maybe get a couple of players to test it? Quote
KotZ Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 What have I done?! *Evil voice* We will not stop until there is a PvP battle in every quest! Muwahahaha! Quote
Flare Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I'm sorry that I am not extremely eager to post "Actaeon Repeats" twice a day. You can blame your party leader for that. Still, dude, you need to be active no matter how interesting a quest is. Quote
JimBee Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Agreed. That's basically what the FoG is, you knew exactly what you were signing up for, so I see no reason for complaints. Quote

Or he didn't know what he was signing up for, which is why he should get out instead of just going through it and being inactive. Quote

Asphalt Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Mhinak smiles and lifts up his "Dinky" Hand Cannon revealing it to anyone near him. Careful, you don't want to get a reputation for have a Dinky Cannon. Quote
Yzalirk Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Don't worry, someday I'll have a more significant Hand Cannon equipped and isn't as small as the "Dinky" Hand Cannon. Quote
Duvors Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Kintobor, is everything alright at your end? You haven't done anything for a few days now and I'm getting kind of worried. Quote
Kintobor Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Kintobor, is everything alright at your end? You haven't done anything for a few days now and I'm getting kind of worried. Everything's alright. Sorry for the wait, I've just had to finish up some things with the other PCs and get somethings sorted out, both in the quest and in real life. They'll be an update later today. Also: After all these years, we finally have Sandy produce a winter scene in Eubric! I love it, Sandy! Quote
Sandy Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 After all these years, we finally have Sandy produce a winter scene in Eubric! I love it, Sandy! Haha, thanks! I figured that since Flipz is going to host a quest titled "Winter Wrap-Up", there should be at least some depiction of an actual winter in Eubric, too. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) ^^Agreed. Also, I would like to say that I very much liked the Decamon "Aftermath" picture. Edited January 16, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote

Zepher Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Hey! A Present for Doc Daneeka has some winter scenes of Eubric too... though I didn't know we got THAT much snow. But on a less selfish note, yes Sandy, as always a lovely build from you! Quote

It's been snowing here in Finland for this whole month, so I was probably subconsciously inspired by the mounts of snow we have here. Quote
StickFig Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Don't worry, someday I'll have a more significant Hand Cannon equipped and isn't as small as the "Dinky" Hand Cannon. Is that what all those emails I get are talking about? "Since your early childhood you were embarrassed of the size of your little friend?" "If my love warrior is too small, I may lose this war?" "Add extra inches to my war cannon?" Quote
