Enlighten me...

In the training room if you go Dragoon after passing the level 40 mark your dragon has an increasingly high chance of not doing its Shield. Hoke was never Dragoon, so....

It's all about when you train to be a dragoon, ie. which state you first get your pet dragon. If it has grown up without you, it will mistrust you.

So if you first become a Dragoon at Level 40 or above, then the Shield-skill has a 1/4 chance to fail.

It doesn't count if you have switched to another class and then return to Dragoon beyond Level 40, though, because the pet dragon is still the same.

#125 set the standards for former Dragoons - you may role-play your dragon, but you cannot use any traits that Dragoons had.

The trait Pet Dragon grants level 30-39 heroes the benefit of 0/0 mistrust. You’re about to turn level 50, which has 1/2 mistrust. Now, I could be wrong on this, but if Arnold wasn’t allowed to carry forward the benefits of his former Pet Dragon trait, I’m not sure you are allowed to carry forward yours - the more so since Arnold was only trying to get Miriam to look into a window, which is a much smaller effect than the effect of a 0/0 mistrust modifier…

But, it's Sandy's ruling, though. I personally would support the trust being carried forward - I really like the looks of Vindicator, but I'm afraid to train it because, according to the rules, I wouldn't have enough trust with my Dragon.

See above post.

Hoke cannot have a dragon without first training to be a Dragoon. Hoke can't use the dragon for anything other than role-play purposes, which is all I have done this whole time.

You're making things up - who are Arnold and Miriam, anyway?

As it is stated in the rules, the mistrust modifier only applies to people who train as Dragoons for the first time at Level 40 or above. Hoke has already formed a bond with his dragon companion, so there's no mistrust between them.

And BOOM goes the dynamite! I really can't wait to play Dragoon, especially with the recent Dragon's Wrath update. And to get to level 54 (at least).

See, I disagree. What's stopping players from going Dragoon, dropping Dragoon after a quest, and then coming back to Dragoon at a higher level? I think we're forgetting that we're dealing with dragons. They're not a horse or a wolf or something that can be tamed with breeding and training, their elemental creatures of immense power with the ability to speak, creatures who could destroy cities if they see fit, even countries!

A hero willy nilly dropping Dragoon and coming back to it should receive a negative trust effect with their dragon because why should the dragon trust the hero who ditches them for another class? We've seen that dragon's can speak and do have the ability to rationalize emotions. Where do dragons go when they're not being used in combat? They can't be used by the PC for scouting or any other such thing. :shrug_confused:

I understand your sentiment, but I want to keep the rules simple. If the mistrust level changed every time the player switched out of the class and returned, it would be a nightmare to keep track of.

Isn't that being done in the Hall thread, though? Class changes are recorded there, if I recall. :shrug_confused:

I thought that was originally posted in the hall as well. It's kind of important. :sceptic: One could go back through the Training Room, but considering how long some of those posts get, it might help to post it in the hall as well. :shrug_confused:

I've never posted the levels in which a class change has happened.

Sorry for the late update, 126ers. SXSW just started and I'm volunteering for it and enjoying my free time with it but there shouldn't be anymore late updates like the ones I just did.

To my questmates: There is a high chance of me being unavailable for up to 4 days. I will do my best to post, but it seems unlikely that I'll have time. Sorry. :sheepish:

Since you are a new player, I feel obligated to say this: it is considered bad form to sign into quests when you know you will be gone for an extended period of time.

Granted, four days isn't an awfully long time when it comes to quests - not much will probably happen during your absence -, but if you knew this in advance, you should've at least informed your Quest Master about it before he picked the players. So please remember this in the future.
