"Kindly remove your hand." Tesni growled.

This was just too funny! :laugh_hard::rofl:

Indeed. It seems Tesni has been taking lessons from Boomingham.

Boomingham and Eric are great.

This is going to be a good quest.

We've role played as good friends since literally the start of the game, but this is the first time they've quested together.

Am I wrong, or is this the first time we've seen a Fenarian who is also a vampire?

Fenarian vampire, where?! I swear, Na'im has never been near anyone's blood before- he had nothing to do with this!

Drops: Fenarian Robes of the Vampire(SP:3, Max. Ether +4, Immune to Darkness, backwear)

Drops: Loincloth of the Ancient(SP: 3, Absorbs Earth, legwear)

Those are two sweet items.

I don't know if we have any footwear that offers up to 3 SP, and it has absorptive abilities as well.

The Robes of the Vampire are better even than the Ethereal Cloak.

Yeah...maybe it's just me, but I really dislike that items like that are available for what looks like an easy fight for low level PCs.

It's Linds first quest. I know we griped about the firearms, but give the guy a break. For him, this is a learning experience, and the last thing I want is to deter potential QMs away by continually berating someone over minor issues. :sceptic:

I already told Lind to tone down with new items, but this same phenomenon happens with almost all new QMs.

At least those items adhere to the game mechanics...

And the stat boost items one the THIRD post of the quest, before ANY role-play or battles. Not saying he is never QM again, just bringing up a legitimate critique about power creep/low level PCs thinking they have to have the same gear as high level PCs (yes, I realize many PCs in the quest are second PCs), which Lind and a few other 'newer' players seem to think.

At least those items adhere to the game mechanics...

Like the Healing Staff? :tongue::laugh:

LW feels that his character is undergeared for the level it is at, and we see some overtuned loot drops in his first hosted quest (for lower level characters). Possible correlation?

I should have dropped a Pegleg of invincibility in #106....

I apologize if my loot is OP. Originally, all the enemies were supposed to be stereotypical outlaws, and I had designed the original drops to reflect that. But Sandy said that I had a lot of humanoids in my quest, and that I might want to look into changing that. Most of the alternate enemies that I could imagine were also humanoid(a stereotypical Western setting with stereotypical outlaws does not leave as much room as it might.), so I had to get creative. I know the robes are high, but...But I just realized that those were supposed to be equippable by mage/cleric classes only. :ugh::facepalm:

As for the battle, I understand that it could be more difficult, but I'm also trying to balance a party that is only getting more unbalanced by the battle. Which is partially my fault, but I had originally intended for this to be a full six-player quest(many, many changes ago(specifically, the newbies who got snapped up for #128)). I'm trying to make battles that are moderately difficult for players ranging from 17.5 to below 10, several of whom have higher WP than their level. I know it's not perfect, but I figured a battle that tended towards easier, was better than one in which several players spend half of it KO'd. (Also, Cursed, Afraid, Blinded, and Asleep as the specials aren't exactly the most player-friendly choices...)

Don't worry about it too much. Just look for how you can improve. In UMDM's the "boss" got KOed round 1, unless I'm mistaken. Every QM has come a long way. If I were you, though, I'd err on the side of dropping too few artifacts and permanent-boosting items, but I know most new QMs seem to go to the other side, so who am I to judge.:grin:

I guess we'll see how my battles work out the first time I host.

In other news. I am almost done the pictures for my first quest, but realized that all my battle preparations aren't really applicable because of the way I've changed the quest. So now for that part...again. Don't worry. I will QM sometime...hopefully this year (and I know I said the same things two years ago... :ugh: ) :drunk:

I'm with Kinto here. Not just because I've made some basic mistakes making my first battle and plus making it super easy,,, (Sorry, guys!)

Perfectly fine cutcobra- no one here minds easy battles do they eh eh...

No seriously cutcobra I thourght it was fine difficulty wise but since it was my first I can't really say much

Unless it's utterly game-breaking I don't see why we can't just hold our criticism for quests till after they are completed. If the QM is unsure about the way they are conducting their quest they can ask for opinions privately or publicly in the appropriate topics. If an outside-observer has questions or criticisms they feel must be said mid-game they can easily PM the QM and offer suggestions. Levying public criticisms mid-game against things that are not game breaking seems to me a rather sad attempt at saying, "Sandy, he/she is making my character/time that I put into the game less valuable because of how they're QMing and I want to make sure you know about it." :def_shrug:

To Lind or any new QM's, if you really aren't sure about something or want to get a second opinion send one of the more experienced QM's a PM, we're generally more than happy to help. We won't run your quest for you, but we can steer you in the right direction. :classic:

I think it has to do more with the fact of how different the game was when the 'veterans' began playing. Artifacts weren't even a thing back then. Unless an artifact is apocalyptically powerful (in which case it'd probably get nerfed) the simple fact that low level characters can equip at best two artifacts at a time significantly limits power creep.

Seems like the PCs on Lind's quest don't mind the loot at all bit.:tongue:

I don't really care if any PC outclasses Hoke as far as builds go, but I do hope that we can stave off power creep as much as possible.

Not really, as legwear isn't an artifact category.

In my day on our first quests we got WP: 4 weapons and we were happy with. :pir-sad2::tongue:

My bad, that should read footwear.

My highest questee will likely be hitting Level 20 when #131 is over. This isn't a Level 1 quest.
