Scubacarrot Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 My highest questee will likely be hitting Level 20 when #131 is over. This isn't a Level 1 quest. It was a joke on what CMP said mate, nothing to do with your quest or your loot drops. Quote
CMP Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 That's exactly what I'm referring to, Scuba. At least on your first quest you got a neat dagger. I remember an argument arose over a WP: 5 weapon in Quest #2. Quote
Cutcobra Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) With all this topic about giving a lot of items as a QM I want to know if I'm doing the same thing because I specifically try balance the loot drops. And before you ask, I just gave a lot of phoenix essences because %3& @$$@$$!#$. Edited April 9, 2015 by Cutcobra Quote
swils Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 We all got a WP:3 weapon, iirc, at the start of my first quest, and that was the neatest thing ever. Quote
JimBee Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Unless it's utterly game-breaking I don't see why we can't just hold our criticism for quests till after they are completed. If the QM is unsure about the way they are conducting their quest they can ask for opinions privately or publicly in the appropriate topics. If an outside-observer has questions or criticisms they feel must be said mid-game they can easily PM the QM and offer suggestions. Levying public criticisms mid-game against things that are not game breaking seems to me a rather sad attempt at saying, "Sandy, he/she is making my character/time that I put into the game less valuable because of how they're QMing and I want to make sure you know about it." To Lind or any new QM's, if you really aren't sure about something or want to get a second opinion send one of the more experienced QM's a PM, we're generally more than happy to help. We won't run your quest for you, but we can steer you in the right direction. I have to disagree. I don't think Lind being called out is anyone tattling to Sandy. He always has the final say, but in the meantime I don't think it's inappropriate for anyone else to say that something's overpowered or not right in a quest. Plus Sandy doesn't have the time to read all other quests and catch these things himself. This thread should be a place where everyone can openly discuss all things Heroica. I think it's a good thing that the drops issue was brought up now instead of after. If no one said anything, Lind wouldn't be aware that he was doing anything wrong and wouldn't even be trying to solve the problem. I think what's been brought up is a fair criticism, and it's not too late for Lind to change the drops or otherwise change things further along in the quest, rather than waiting to receive criticism after the fact and discover for the first time that he had been doing something wrong. Palathadric Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Just for the record, my initial intention was not to criticize, but I can see how it came off sounding that way. I just wanted to say that if I were still a cleric-based class I would jump to purchase both of those artifacts, probably, even at Level 30+. In my first quest I can't recall getting any weapons. The best item, which Benji snapped up, was the "Armour of the Draugr," which gave +2 Max HP. Good times, those! Quote
Myrddyn Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I blame Fabian. Not saying we should get rid of him, but the vampiric fenarian cloak is an ethereal cloak with +1sp, and an amethyst. The ancient loincloth sounds pretty gross, but its an earth-absorbing tricorne, only for your feet. These artifacts are only a little bit better than things anyone can get at the marketplace. Back when people were getting 2 HP artifacts, that was better than what anyone could get, because there was no artifact shop. Quote
StickFig Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 My bad, that should read footwear. The ancient loincloth sounds pretty gross, but its an earth-absorbing tricorne, only for your feet. So Lind turns down a threesome with two shepherd chicks and then drops a loincloth around his questee's feet.... Quote
samurai-turtle Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 And before you ask, I just gave a lot of phoenix essences because %3& @$$@$$!#$. Is that one or two words (or more)? For the battle difficulty I think it is fine. (But, it is only my second quest. ) Quote

Cutcobra Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 So, does anyone have any plans for the archangels or is doing a quest around/including/mentioning one? Is that one or two words (or more)? Guess. Quote
Sandy Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 So, does anyone have any plans for the archangels or is doing a quest around/including/mentioning one? Not me, at least. Feel free to introduce them - as long as their names are not anagrams of the archdemons. Quote

UsernameMDM Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Has anyone adopted Sandy's Heroica rules for a live tabletop game? Trying to get one started with some friends. Quote
swils Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I feel like you could pretty much do a 1:1 "conversion", the rules and mechanics and everything are already pretty much P&P as it is Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 And movement rules, maybe. I forget the number(I only remember that it had Pongcanae), but Brickdoctor hosted a quest fairly recently that had a good movement system. Quote
Sandy Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 Has anyone adopted Sandy's Heroica rules for a live tabletop game? Trying to get one started with some friends. The rules for this game were adapted from the original Heroica boardgame, so you can just readapt those for a tabletop version. Quote

May have to look into those as I *GASP!* never played it. Guess I have been missing out this whole time! Edited April 10, 2015 by UsernameMDM Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Has anyone adopted Sandy's Heroica rules for a live tabletop game? Trying to get one started with some friends. I keep determining one day to run a game at one of the Lego conventions. Ah! May have to look into those as I *GASP!* never played it. Guess I have been missing out this whole time! Much more basic than what we're playing here, most people who've heard of Heroica only know it for the board game. Quote
Chromeknight Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I'm planning on running some heroica board game (upsized to minifig scale) at the Sydney brick show next weekend. Quote
StickFig Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Moderately. It'd be helpful if more people updated it. I'm pretty busy at the moment, but once 127 is done I think I'll hop back to work as far as my own lore goes. Hop, says the cricket. You are just mad because you kept getting caught behind the sheep. Hahahahahahahahaha. I am frustrated with it, yes, because I kept receiving comments about how my character was "showing his cowardly side," etc., etc, when in fact Lind(at least in this particular case), if it were possible per game mechanics, would have tried to soak up all damage, rather than any of the rest of party be injured in what he considered "his" fight. Perhaps if he has such high morals, he might do better as a different class? Quote
CMP Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 (edited) Perhaps if he has such high morals, he might do better as a different class? Yeah, I'm not sure if Lind got the memo or not, but one of the Black Knight skills is Hide and another is Dodge and the last is Arrogant Prick. Edited April 11, 2015 by CallMePie Quote
