First off, I'm really enjoying Heroica as it is, and I think we should let it go as long as it will before we start seriously looking into starting HRPG: GAS.

I think we should consider having the early discussion page for GAS on another site, so we don't risk the big mods getting annoyed at us cluttering the place up arguing about something that doesn't even exist yet, and also so the other Heroica people don't feel they're starting to be pushed out. I think google docs would work, with some more significant contributors having editing rights on the document and everyone else arguing in the comments, but maybe other people have other ideas or just want to stick it in the games forum. :shrug_oh_well:

Either way, I really don't think Rules and Discussion is the best place for it, so we should stick it some place better as soon as possible.

Also, if we are making a new RPG, I think it's important to look at some of the things in Heroica that caused problems, like gold gain, SP invincibility, and how fast ether burns up early on. Also, power creep - do we still want to use a level system, with upgradeable weapons and equipment? If we want more focus on faction reputation, this could give a different system of character advancement that doesn't cause difficulties balancing quests with big character level gaps.

I do like Pie's class ideas, but I think there's a lot of overlap between them. I think we'd be better having less basic classes, and making the rest faction-earnt advanced classes. A basic-class tank, DPS, and support, and maybe a stealth class if we want to elaborate on stealth as a battle mechanic, rather than just a way to do more damage. Perhaps we could have some kind of in-battle objective besides wiping out the enemies? That could give a role to stealth-focused classes.

It is sci-fi, so I think for a row replacement we could have route-power-to-weapons/route-power-to-forcefields. Possibly also other options, if we want to make it more complex.

On a different note: I guess Cool Kids Club is open to original Barbarians too?:tongue:

Yeah, anyone who can use a club.

I agree with Myrddyn, that we should have a google doc or such to avoid clutter. I've got some ideas for mechanics that I can go into more depth in there.

Seconded. For the moment, while we get more organized, here's a Writeboard we can use:

http://123.writeboard.com/i02wffdb0f4onqjqxxbima28

Password: heroicaspace

(Google Docs would be better for the actual laying out of mechanics suggestions, but Writeboard would work better for the discussions over them.)

EDIT: Oops. Fixed the link so it goes straight to the comments page, not the Edit the Header page.

Great job on making the Writeboard  ! Still, would it not be easier to just make a new topic here in the Heroica subforum, to keep the discussion on Eurobricks? That way, we can just copy all that has been said in the Rules topic, the Discussion topic and the Writeboard into the new topic.

It's probably just me though (since I'm not used to Writeboard), but I feel discussions are more clear and easier to follow here on EB. I don't get the "version 1/2/3" thingie on writeboard :wacko: . For now, I'll try to join the Writeboard discussion, though :classic: .

The Cool Kids' Staff is the best...just saying. :sadnew:

We usually don't mingle with the Cool Kids' Club.

Cool Kids' Longsword outnumbers all others though... So maybe they're actually the coolest?

The Staff is for the Elite few. Dual Staff means you're double-plus cool.

I hate to rain on your parade, guys, but I do not really want this forum to be used for discussion about any sequels or spin-off games yet. Heroica RPG is not finished by far - on the contrary it needs more content - so if people start focusing on other games on the side, this game will die out quickly.

So please, lets just focus on this setting and these stories we have yet to tell.

D'awww. Too bad  . Shucks, but completely understandable.

Longswords are so mainstream, bro. I liked longswords before they were cool.

QMs, I fully expect someone to drop a "Cool Kids X" item in the next school- or youth-themed quest.

I support this claim...and all its contents.

Guys, am I the only one who's color button doesn't work? I try to click it but the color list just doesn't come up.

Does anyone have a list of the color names so I can manually do it with the code ()

Yeah, that seems pretty accurate. I know I just type out Deepskyblue for Finnegan when I'm posting from tablet.

So you can use colors without typing the hex code? How does that work? Do you just type [ color=Deepskyblue ] (without the spaces)?

Re: #130, Amenra is also the name of a great Belgian metal band. Very dark and doomy music. I might be mistaken, but I don't think it's quite your type of music, Sandy. Still, I like the name being used here for a beach resort, even though its probably a coincidence  . The contrast between a sunny beach resort and Amenra's image and music is plain awesome and funny  .

No I still use the code. I was just too lazy to copy it down on tablet.

And I've got to say Sandy, I am loving what you're doing with Quest #130. I'm very interested to see where it goes.

I don't think it is, even though I do love Nightwish, Evanescence and Within Temptation.

The name is actually taken from the ancient Egyptian god Amen-Ra - the reason for which will become evident once you visit the resort.

Thanks! I'm a bit intimidated, myself, because all the locations and subquests are a lot to keep a track off. I've drawn inspiration for this quest from the videogames Dragon Age: Inquisition and the demo of Final Fantasy XV, both of which I recently played. We'll just have to see how well videogame mechanics work in the context of this game...

I've been a little stuck on the Fellcreste quest, but I may wait and see how 130 turns out and if it's successful use that system for it since I've been hoping for a bit of town exploration. :classic:

Reward: “I can give you this book I’ve been reading on the trip, ‘Phiphty Shades of Grey’.”

If Heckz is looking for 'Fifty Shades of Bley,' he'll be disappointed. :poke:
