K-Nut Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Out of interest, what is the Munchkin tribe (the lore in a nutshell), Lind? I'm afraid I missed any backstory during my hiatus after #100. Basically they know everything that has ever happened (at least that's how I've interpreted it). Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) Out of interest, what is the Munchkin tribe (the lore in a nutshell), Lind? I'm afraid I missed any backstory during my hiatus after #100. The long version. The short version: After the Orc Wars, a tribe returned to their home village of Muncie to find it had been torched by retreating orcs. Renaming themselves the "Munchkins," an abbreviation of "The Children of Muncie," they relocated to the underground Forest of the Blue Pools, where they now focus on stock-piling eclectic knowledge instead of fighting. Basically they know everything that has ever happened (at least that's how I've interpreted it). Not everything - they keep tabs on bigger events, but smaller events pass them by, and they only know the main facts about the bigger events.Like with Althior - Lind knew that there had been a betrayal of the Veterans, and he knew (probably from the Questboard) that there had been a necromancer on the party named Althior, but he didn't know any of the specific details of the quest. Lind's knowing about aliens was a reflection of some elements of a future quest chain I'm working on that has the Munchkins in several roles. It would have probably been better if I'd left that part of his background out, but it wouldn't have made sense in reflection. If Heckz is looking for 'Fifty Shades of Bley,' he'll be disappointed. I was a little disappointed myself - I actually had the perfect quest to drop that on... Edited April 23, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Ah, so they're the Brotherhood of steel (Fallout) of Heroica sans the cool power armour, OK. I was interpreting them much the same way as the wizard of oz until now. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Basically they know everything that has ever happened (at least that's how I've interpreted it). And what SHOULD happen... Quote
Enceladus Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 And I've got to say Sandy, I am loving what you're doing with Quest #130. I'm very interested to see where it goes. Got to agree with k-nut here: I like the idea of taking the idea of the open wolrd quest a step forward (like you tired to do I think with quest 100)- and it gives us a chance to see even more amazing sets and fig-barfs from you anyway Quote
StickFig Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 ...I do love Nightwish... I loved them too, right up until they fired Tarja... just not the same any more without the Opera. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I can't wait to see what kind of damage Warlen is going to do. 29 Spellpower, Lucky, and 2 2x modifiers... Quote
Cutcobra Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 (edited) This "sub-quests" and Influence in #130 are pretty cool so far. It kinda reminds me of the mission "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts" in Dragon Age Inquisition (which was my favorite). Edited April 25, 2015 by Cutcobra Quote
Yzalirk Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Since you mentioned that, Cutcobra, I had to go check it out! Since I took a look at it, I also like the idea of that during a quest where you can have other opinion objectives that can grant rewards. I would like to see more quests do this and these optional objectives can influence the main quest in various ways. Quote

It seems like 130 is taking that and other things a step farther, at least mechanic wise. Quote
Palathadric Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 130 looks to be magnificent. I don't know if it will beat 100, but it will be good. That's for sure. Quote
Khorne Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 So, umm, is Lind Whisperer officially Throlar's first Heroica friend now? Quote

Pyrovisionary Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Whispers of Throlind: Book 1 of the Heroica Bromance It'll be the next biggest young adult trilogy since Hunger games and Twilight. And the final blockbuster film adaptation will be split into two parts. Quote
Endgame Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Well, it's been a while. Firstly, the more game pertinent matter: 105ers, you only lost time from my absence at the end of 105. All that was left after Masson lost his arm was to get on a boat and go home, and you guys did just that. That story is over. I don't know if my apology means anything at this point, but I really am sorry about what happened. It wasn't fair. I needed to sort some things out. During 81, my physical health was bad, and 99 was mental. 105, unfortunately, was both. It was kind of bitterly ironic - The Regret was devised during my first bout with depression (years before Heroica), and I ended up having a second while you were fighting him. I needed a couple of months to pick up the pieces. The way I started my hiatus was grossly irresponsible, however, and there is nothing to justify the dissappearance without notice. I'm finally back on track, though, and I managed to pick up the pieces. I'm feeling much, much, better now. I hope to continue questing and quest hosting (returning to much, much smaller scale plots, such as 36 and 70). So, yeah, I think I'll be reading through what I missed. Quote
Asphalt Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 No need to apologize for taking care of what needed to be taken care of. Welcome back. Quote
Kintobor Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I think we were all more worried about you than whether or not you wrapped up a nearly wrapped up quest. I'm just glad you're alright. Quote
Palathadric Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 He's alive! That's all I can say...or not... Great to have you back, Endgame! I really hope you're alright now. Pretzel will give Sorrow a hug when they meet in the hall...or, you know, whatever. No way! How many Enhancements did Thalion just get? And they were all successful! I am so jelly. Quote
Emjajoas Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Yeah, welcome back, Endgame! You were missed. Quote
