UsernameMDM Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I mean, imagine if the current heroes grew up to be Veterans. I imagine almost ALL of them would abuse that power in some way, even the more moral standing ones. Nope. Quote
K-Nut Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Grey Foxer I'm not sure. The loner? I'd probably go along the lines of Etherlord maybe. It's hard to make it not sound cheesy. Quote
Emjajoas Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Question for all: What would your hero's nickname be if he/she/it was a veteran (like Dragonlord, Sand Queen, Moonstrider, etc). I don't about Heckz's but it would probably be something like "Beautiful Fabulous Blah Blah". I want to say something along the lines of "The Visionary" to poke at my hero's fading sight, but... But you respect my trademark of anything Visionary related. Sarge would be The Soldier. Although I have an affinity for the name "That guy who carries two greatswords. Hey, aren't those things usually person-sized? Yup!" Quote
Kintobor Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Boomingham actually would have liked the Wolfgang if Baba hadn't shown up. If she's taken out of the picture he'd probably go back onto the fence. I think a really cool way to make the Wolfgang more credible would be to take down the Veterans a peg - make them a bit more shady and what not. They very clearly don't like the Wolfgang (for the same reason as Baba siding with them) but we really don't know what the Veterans are up to. I imagine between the six of them, and with a personal army at their command, some of them may abuse the power - especially those who have political leanings in their every day lives. I think Sandy has done a nice job of hinting that we don't really know much about them yet. I mean, imagine if the current heroes grew up to be Veterans. I imagine almost ALL of them would abuse that power in some way, even the more moral standing ones. See, Karie doesn't really like the Wolfgang due to the fact that Ulric sent her sister out to die, but she hates Patricia and the watch more for killing her and being corrupt all around. I could see Karie being lenient with the Wolfgang, though, if only because Karie is a very easily corruptible person (something we've seen, so I'm not pulling it out of my megablocks!) I think the same thing stands with the Veterans. Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's the age old "with great power comes great responsibility", and I don't think any of the people in the running for control of the city have enough responsibility to run it (including "King" Guts ), and that's honestly great from a storytelling perspective. No matter how this goes down, there's going to be problems afterwards. Any hero as a veteran is a scary thought, except maybe Annienal, but they'd probably put her in the Library. The Starlet for Karie? I kind of like it. Quote

Cutcobra Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Is it cheating to say Assassin of the Light? Yes, actually. Veterans are only allowed master classes. Quote
Kintobor Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Yes, actually. Veterans are only allowed master classes. If that's the logic you wish to use, explain how one of them is a Dragoon? Quote

Cutcobra Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 If that's the logic you wish to use, explain how one of them is a Dragoon? And another is a Shaman? I'm pretty sure it goes like this: Dragonlord - Paragon Feathered Serpent - Paragon Copper Fox - Mime Falconator - Prophet Sand Queen - Prophet Valkyre - Prophet They might have been something else in the past (Dragonlord a Dragoon, Valkyre a Battle Mage, etc) but they all have to be master classes. As the only QM who has sent a Veteran along with my party, I can definitively say that the Dragonlord is still a Dragoon per word of Sandy, at least as of 104. EDIT: Forgot about 58, but the point about Dragonlord still stands. Edited June 4, 2015 by Flipz Quote

Zepher Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 We haven't seen him since I hacked off his arm. Maybe he bled out? Also, what happened to Knox, Endgame? I still have some questions about the end of 105, to be honest. Quote
Endgame Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) I haven't had a place to fit Masson in without it seeming shoehorned, but hes still very much alive. Moping around, lonely and depressed, but alive. Knox's fate is basically: If anyone wants to use him, alive and scarred. If nobody wants to use him, dead. Basically, he's in limbo - if someone took a liking to him, use him. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Two things about the ending (one thing that's not important and the other very much is): -There was originally going to be a plot point that an Ameoboss tore the swift sail, making the journey back 6-7 months long. Obviously, this can be handwaved. -What's more relevant to you, and something I remembered today going through some of my PMs: The Reaper's Heart was supposed to be tradeable with the Sand Queen when you returned for a Letter of Recommendation and a Level Up Mushroom, and this was cleared by Sandy - sort of a reward for sticking with me through all of that (often messy) quest. It was approved under the name of the Crystal of Clairvoyance, but it's basically the same item renamed for thematic reasons. We may have to defer this one to Sandy, but I'm personally of the belief you should get the loot that technically dropped from that final battle. Edited June 4, 2015 by Endgame Quote
