Why not have Mind-flayers and Ilithids be separate races?

I actually like this idea. Aren't they separate (if related) races in D&D as well?

Technically they're just alternate names for each other. Nothing stopping us from separating them into two different races, I'm more for simple subspecies though, keeps them culturally similar and the same feel of unease.

The most evil race in fantasy pop-culture history is near extinct? Sorry, I had Hava already set before 125's big reveal. From a retcon strategy, I'm thinking there can just be two subraces, the more powerful, rare, and long-lived Greater Mind-flayers (like Baba) and the more populous but less dangerous Lesser Mind-flayers. That would at least explain their difference in powers and appearances.

Yeah, it's just a matter of inopportune timing. Quest#135 will explain the whole deal with my type of Mindflayers - your NPC just happened to get featured before that.

Having two subspecies is probably the best option to keep everything canon, though.

*We need to buff healing. No, not potions and the like; Ethereal healing. Right now, there's no incentive for Ether-based healing classes to heal outside of limited potion supplies, something that becomes basically a non-issue at Advanced Class level. 134 was a GREAT example of this; why heal and risk failure when you can just pop a potion and pay back later? It's the same reason Minstrel songs are so powerful: you announce the action, and it happens, with no chance for failure. While I feel like adding a failure mechanic to consumables would be rather ridiculous, I do think that Ether-based healing needs something to make it more appealing.

Hey yeah, that reminds me. Lookin at you Kintobor.

A stiff wind plays through Heroica Hall. Through the slits in the Mask of Lethauros, Annienal hears the wise words of the ancient, hallowed dragon, speaking to her again at long last. What long forgotten truth would the dragon reveal to the young elf? What knowledge was she about to be blessed with? Annienal clenches her fist in anticipation, and drinks in the words of the Elder Dragon...

Is it just me, or are there a number of image links in current and past Quests that are starting to break? It's...actually a bit disconcerting, actually...

Depends on the hosting site. I have a paid Photobucket account, so all my pictures should be intact - save for some temporary hiccups with the site. Photobucket update their programs a lot for some reason, and not all changes are for the better...

OoC: But that Intimidation is more like "I'm big and strong get out of my way". Heckz was just trying to use diplomacy in a mean way. :cry2:

Although that would be the Infiltrator's diplomacy so I still don't have a point...

In #122, I tried to use "soft" Intimidation, where a person speaks cheerfully, but there's a hard tone behind their words...

Notice:

If anyone wants one of the artifacts I have on sale, then PM me, otherwise I'll probably just sell them at the Marketplace. I don't want to hold onto too many artifacts that I won't use and that no one is intending to buy cluttering up my inventory.

"The Dodekube, that holy cube that controls all battles across the dimensions...I'll fill you in some other time."

"So-Zo, what zort of a drag-gon 'as taken over zour kingdom, exactly? Night Fury? Bewilderbeast? Scauldron? Sundragon?"

I remember when references used to be subtle. Not my references of course, but in general.

"I believe in the guidance of the Dodekube. And the Dodekube decrees that organized parties have a higher chance of being selected."

As a QM, I can most definitely say that this is false, at least as far as my Quests go. If a player says they'd particularly enjoy Questing with someone in particular--or, more importantly, if they'd particularly not enjoy Questing alongside someone in particular--I'll try to take that into consideration. But ultimately, I'm going to choose the players most likely to successfully work with me to tell a satisfying joint story, regardless of any pre-formed parties. Actually, in most cases, I'd be less likely to pick someone who's lobbying extremely hard for a party of their selection--it indicates to me that they're more likely to try to take over the Quest itself as well if I bring them along, which is obviously not something I want as a QM.

My advice is to just sit back and let the Quests come to you. If you think a particular Quest would be great for your character, fantastic--sign up for it, mention a few times how excited you are for it, whatever; that's fine. If the QM agrees, then they'll pick you--and if not, well, that just means you're available if another really interesting Quest comes along.

TL;DR: don't make plans, keep your expectations in check. Let each Quest be what it is without trying to force it to your own vision, and you, your fellow players, and your QM will enjoy the Quest much, much more.

Yeah, I learned the negatives of unintentionally taking over a quest back on #122. For #138(if Ah am selected), Ah - and mai brilliant dis-guise - are just looking to have fun immersing ourselves in what looks like a exciting quest. Walk in, kill a dragon, make some gold, loot a few empires - the usual.

Plus, you might want to take some of "Flipz" advice.

And find that little 'Remove Format' icon in your text editor and start using it...

Quest#135 will go up tomorrow, because I need to sleep now. Sorry for the minor delay!

PS. Be sure to have your statistics updated by tomorrow. You guys have such ridiculously large inventories that I'd hate having to sort through them several times.
