Yeah, bringing back my CAT character is kind of not an option. :poke:

I toyed with the idea of an undead Calico Meatpie making a stylish comeback. :look:

Hey, Calico would have lived if you all hadn't been so damned clever with controlling all the actions. :poke:

Well, lived longer, anyway.

Thanks guys. I'd been debating what my second character would be for the longest time, but I decided to go with Jinnipher in the end. I'm really looking forward to playing her, starting fresh with a new character has already been invigorating. :classic:

Or been stabbed in the back. :cry_sad:

Just a suggestion: What if the Caliph's catacombs became a permanent game feature? Like the Fields, but a place that's aimed more at lower-leveled heroes?

Bit redundant, no? I mean, there's areas marked "easy" for good reason.

I think it's fine as is. Lower level heroes should stick with actual quests, IMO

It's just not a very satisfying place for newbies - you go out, you fight until you're killed - it's a bit discouraging, really. I just think a very simple dungeon-clear setup would be a nice feature to have. Just a thought.

The problem is that there aren't that many quests for lower-leveled heroes anymore. I'm making these numbers up, but it feels like about 75% of quests these days are for 25+, 20% are for 15-20+, and only about 5% or so span the range from 1-15.

Well, make up some better numbers, because that's nowhere near the truth. When there's a group of newbies in the Hall a quest usually rolls along for them eventually.

If there are any left after this next batch I'm ironing out the details of my next one and it's well-suited for newbies.

The Fields aren't meant for new players, they're meant to be end-game content for players who've exhausted their current supply of storylines they are invested in but who still want to play the game for its mechanical aspects.

As far as Quests being "meant" for new vs. old players...look at 104. There is a megaton of connection and backstory and revisited locations and continuity in there, all of which would have been great for a set of experienced Heroes with history and backstory connected to those places...and yet, the team of inexperienced Heroes made the Quest far better than it could have been otherwise, simply because they invested in the Quest and its story and played along.

Honestly, I think the problem you're seeing is that a lot of new players/characters don't invest as much (and their QMs don't trust them to do so as much as they do older characters they're already familiar with), whether that lack of investment comes through inactivity or through shoehorning one's own agenda into an otherwise-engaging Quest. QMs don't necessarily want characters of a certain Level, they want characters they think will engage with and interact with both their environment/story and their fellow players in a positive manner. The advantage that established characters have is that the QM has that character's previous Quests and Hall activity to look over and see if they'll offer good contributions, and even that can be a disadvantage in some cases (i.e. if a character has repeatedly faded into the background/abandoned a Quest or if they've repeatedly and deliberately hijacked Quests).

TL;DR, there's not a lack of Quests aimed at low-level characters, there's just a number of QMs at the moment who are looking for players/characters they can trust to engage, and they happen to be erring on the side of previously-established characters rather than untested ones.

"The hall is the same as it's ever been. Heroes coming and going, newbie heroes bragging about how many dragons they've killed or sticking fake elf ears to their head, the usual," he smirks. Since when was that usual? "It seems the trip to the Regret's island took its toll on her, but otherwise she seems fine. Just had a kid, actually! We were in the fields together too. She's probably going to be making her way out against that dragon over Moone in a few days. She could probably benefit by seeing you. Should I send her over?"

Actually, Warlen's bragging how many he's defeated. He hasn't killed any, but being Warlen, he's still technically honest while finding a way to brag. Which is made much easier seeing how I'm the only one from my first quest in the hall.

Speaking of which, when is the 4th anniversary party?

Gotta say, that Horror set's pretty nice, WBD. It's nice to see more sets like that in the mix besides just mine.

No, he must have his hand full.

What if his arm was armed before he it got disarmed?

Naturally the hand would still be holding his arm. Depending on where you left it.

"Damn. Ya've been busy, Ellaria." The regulator whips out the Pheles Kris and slashes at the Dark Dwarf in the front row.

Missing our old class, are we?

I'm actually debating whether or not I should stay with Drafter (it can be pretty fun) or go Rogue Thief, which would be pretty awesome in its own way. Re-classing is easy for Atramor since all of his artifacts are suitable for anyone and uses one of the most common weapon types in the game.

Arthur talks too much, I skim over his posts. No, just kidding, I read that and then went immediately here to post, I didn't even bother to read any of the posts after that one.
