Lind Whisperer Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I think Vorpalis is the only thing in the entire quest with even partial immunity to SD. I was just afraid, that as he's a huge powerful Prior Dragon, everything about him would be immune to SD. Oh my god Vorpalis can mash two heroes into only one hideous creature?? That's crazy! Quote
Endgame Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Oh my god Vorpalis can mash two heroes into only one hideous creature?? That's crazy! Just by roaring, too. Dragons man. They're nuts. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Gentlemen you frighten the young woman. If you would permit it my dear, I would embrace you into the great sleep, in order for her to begin your next path. You would have but to take several deep breaths and then you would know no more until you arose in your new form. I love Vindsval...but something about that just...doesn't sound right. Quote
Asphalt Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 And how would you have a half giant suggest smothering someone in an assisted suicide. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 And how would you have a half giant suggest smothering someone in an assisted suicide. Fair. I guess I just like the sound of the other solutions better.I think it's that Vindsval means to sound comforting, but smothering someone isn't a comforting thing, so it sounds creepy...Like a nursery song playing during a horror film. I agree, neck snapping is faster, and I belive it's painless as well. Quote
Flipz Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I agree, neck snapping is faster, and I belive it's painless as well. But it's more destructive to the body, which she had to be able to use afterward. Also, wasn't it Diane who had the heart attack, not Throlar? I'll show myself out... Quote

Flipz Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I hope you're happy, Zeph, I specifically went back through pretty much all of the final battle of Q30 just to make sure I remembered where Arthur had and hadn't been within the palace, and who/what he'd fought where. Quote
Zepher Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 139 is the quest I've had to go back and re-read stuff the most for so far. That's issue with revisiting pretty much every location and character I've used so far. Quote
StickFig Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I updated to Win10 on day one. Took an hour, and have had exactly zero problems. The secret is that Win10 is an Endgame Boss. Quote
Sandy Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 I haven't heard from the maintenance yet, but I hope I'll get my computer back tomorrow, so my quests can continue. Thanks for your continued patience, guys... If you have any left. Quote
Endgame Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 The secret is that Win10 is an Endgame Boss. Clearly. We can add Win10 to my list of bosses, right between Vorpalis and Paint.net. Quote
Endgame Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Afte it pulled off that crazy shot of Vorpalis stepping out of the fog? No way. Quote
Flipz Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) That's not a dragon. It's a wyvern. And wyverns in Heroica are canonically non-intelligent. Get your dragonclature right, buddy. EDIT: ...aaand the editor eats half the post. Edited August 14, 2015 by Flipz Quote
Endgame Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) That's not a dragon. It's a wyvern. And wyverns in Heroica are canonically non-intelligent. Weird, I thought wyverns were two legged and had wing claws. You know, like... Vorpalis? (Conveneintly, having Vorpalis's mugshot only show one of his eyes allowed me to cheat when his other one got gouged out... RIP Vorpalis.) Edited August 14, 2015 by Endgame Quote
Flipz Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) Vorpalis had two claws and two feet, for a total of four limbs in additon to wings--thus, Dragon. Wyverns have two limbs in addition to wings. (Admittedly, I myself am unclear on the matter of wing claws on actual dragons, but I digress.) IIRC Lethauros was the same. This new dude, if he really is a dragon and not a wyvern, apparently had four limbs in addition to four wings, and then lost two of his limbs. EDIT: Okay, seriously, what is up with the editor today?! *checks* Yeah, still on plain-text mode...Firefox be derpin', I guess... Edited August 14, 2015 by Flipz Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Nah, always had just a tail. I wanted a giant serpent dragon. So I made one, dammit, nomenclature be damned. He's a dragon. Actually, he's closer to a winged serpent than either a dragon or a wyvern. Quote

Scubacarrot Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) So in your opinion, Smaug was a wyvern? Technically Peter Jackson's version is a wyvern. Not that it matters, because we've seen dragons with a variety of intelligence in Heroica, from feral great dragons to intelligent hatchlings. I believe traditionally Wyverns are animals, while dragons have some form of intelligence. Basically there is so much inconsistency that it doesn't matter. Edited August 14, 2015 by Scubacarrot Quote
Asphalt Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Throlar quietly sneaks off to the Manor before the rest notice. Has that ever worked out well for him? Quote

I believe traditionally Wyverns are animals, while dragons have some form of intelligence. Basically there is so much inconsistency that it doesn't matter. That's my line of thinking, but wyverns are typically depicted as almost chicken-like in their build. Smaug had the body of a wyvern but his proportions were more akin to the traditional European dragon. . Come on you amateurs, it's like none of you have ever seen a real dragon before... Quote
