Endgame Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I don't know how we'd frame such a thing, though. Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I can't wait for the event I just fear that one faction will be the most powerful and that will be that. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 You know, speaking of CAT, the system wasn't all bad...if I were to run it now, I'd just make a few changes: 1. Actions are not based on time zones; instead, they happen in a randomized order. (Alternatively, a dying character's action still goes through unless they're actively being blocked.) 2. Phoenix Essences are out; instead, there's a limited number of Fenghuang Essences, which the Alchemist cannot create with Mixture. 3. All weapons are elemental; while this does not affect the pictures, it does affect the damage output thanks to the immunity Artifacts and the addition of Weather Mage. 4. The Scum get permanent conversion abilities, rather than just a single one-use item; ideally, this would work like the Ragnarok 1 conversions (first use converts to Neutral, second use converts to Scum). 5. All characters have a number of personal goals that, when accomplished, grant a full level of experience; this would make the leveling more prominent (IIRC the only two characters in CAT with a chance to level up and change classes were both Scum) as well as encouraging shady, selfish behavior from the characters (making it less desirable to gang up as a Town and completely lock down all actions). 6. Full nighttime anonymity. 'Nuff said. (That said, the "ranged=anonymous" in the daytime was a great mechanic and should stay. ) 7. No full night lockdown actions. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I can't wait for the event I just fear that one faction will be the most powerful and that will be that. Since Shadeaux will obviously have a fairly big turn out compared to most of the others, I'm assuming Sandy plans on balancing it out a little bit with NPC PCs, or something, else it wouldn't be quite fair. Scubacarrot Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Maybe they're talking about Guts? You know there is only one true king. Since Shadeaux will obviously have a fairly big turn out compared to most of the others, I'm assuming Sandy plans on balancing it out a little bit with NPC PCs, or something, else it wouldn't be quite fair. Why do you assume that the Shadeaux will have a big turn out? Because of the Dragoons/people wanting to be dragoons? Quote
KotZ Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 You know there is only one true king. Stannis? Quote
Scubacarrot Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Stannis? Not after that one thing he did. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Why do you assume that the Shadeaux will have a big turn out? Because of the Dragoons/people wanting to be dragoons? Yep. It's a popular class, a popular house, and there's a lot of rep for it among active players. On the same note, just for fun, I've created a poll so we can all see which House is truly in the lead. Time to get political. Quote

Maybe a win (if there is such a thing) should offer a single reward for the whole team to share, so people are more likely to split out to have a better part of the reward in the case of victory. Flipz Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 7. No full night lockdown actions. Oh, right. I must have suppressed the memory of how hideously overpowered Scamander was, for the sake of my own sanity. ...Although in retrospect, he was an accurate representation of what the class did to enemies once it finally got into player hands...maybe we should have taken note of it then. Asphalt Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 ok I need assistance. When I search for CAT it tells me there are too many results for cat. What exactly is CAT? And where can I read about it? Quote
Flipz Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 RE: the event: wait, I thought this was the event where we decide to kill off either all of the Moon and Star Elves or else all of the Sun and Wood Elves. You're telling me we can't just wipe out Spesialia entirely? In all seriousness, I am a bit concerned. As has been pointed out, Arthur does have some rather heavy ties to three different Houses; it'll be a wrench if they end up on different sides. JSYK, Lind, you're missing an option on that poll that says "anyone who's not the freakin' Bonapartes ". ok I need assistance. When I search for CAT it tells me there are too many results for cat. As has been pointed out, Arthur does have some rather heavy ties to three different Houses; it'll be a wrench if they end up on different sides. I thought the alliance names referred to the side of town each house was located on (and thus possibly sharing similar core ideals - see rich vs. poor or democracy vs. aristocracy... maybe). The Hinckwells, Ji Pei and Guild of Invision are on Sungold Hill and the Shadeaux, Bonapartes and Ziegfrieds are near Crescent Hill. It also makes sense because each of those, in order, are rivaling factions. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Yep. It's a popular class, a popular house, and there's a lot of rep for it among active players. As are the Ziegfrieds. And the Guild of Invision. And even the Hinckwells. I think the only side that might be off balance is the Wolfgang. Quote
Flipz Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Well, shit. Two of Arthur's Houses are on one side...along with a House he loathes entirely. Quote

It also makes sense because each of those, in order, are rivaling factions. That's what I was thinking. Arthur would probably end up on the Crescent Hill side since that's Shadeaux and Ziegfrieds. I'm just worried that some of my favorite PCs like Hybros and Karie will end up on the other side. Well, shit. Two of Arthur's Houses are on one side...along with a House he loathes entirely. Luckily, Althior only likes the Ziegfrieds, so it's an easy choice. Also, if we go off of current reputations, Guts and Hoke will be on opposite sides, so that evens things out. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Twenty minutes later, Ji Pei and Zeigfried Ziegfried are in the lead. I'm not going to try and call the winners until we have more than six people voting, though. Edited August 16, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote
K-Nut Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 You spelled Ziegfried wrong dammit. And you think you're the expert on the houses. (I'm kidding, of course) Quote
Flipz Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Yeah, I mean, there's no contest, Arthur's got to go Crescent--the two pieces of his family (Ziegfrieds for him, Shadeaux for Miirym) are both on that side, so he can't risk losing reputation among either. That said, ideologically he's probably closest to the Ji Pei (or actually, probably closest to the Golden Crusade, interestingly enough--I wish I was in a better headspace to roleplay on 139 at the moment because Natasha seems like someone he'd get along with rather well). He hates the Bonapartes, in his view they embody everything that's wrong with the city--to the point where he's subconsciously transferred some of their negative traits to the Hinckwells in his own mind. BTW, has Sandy ever mentioned where in the city Heron St. is? Quote
UsernameMDM Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 So where is the info about which Houses belong to which sides? Quote
K-Nut Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Honestly, Althior despises the Hinckwells, and the Shadeaux, and the Bonapartes, and the Guild of Invision. He actually likes the Ji Pei, but he's never managed to gain their respects. I'm especially worried about Kheyli, seeing as she doesn't know anything about the city. So where is the info about which Houses belong to which sides? On the map, Hinckwells, the Guild, and the Ji Pei are on Sungold Hill. Ziegfrieds, Shadeaux, and Bonapartes are on Crescent Hill. That's where we're getting our assumptions. Quote
Flipz Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 So where is the info about which Houses belong to which sides? We're speculating based on JimBee's really logical estimation that the sides are based on the geography of Eubric (Sungold Hill and Crescent Hill). Quote
JimBee Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Yeah if my suspicions are right, it'll be an easy choice for Hybros. Jinnipher is still brand new though. I wonder how newer characters will eventually fit into it. So where is the info about which Houses belong to which sides? There isn't. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Also, if we go off of current reputations, Guts and Hoke will be on opposite sides, so that evens things out. How do you reckon that? Guts has great reputation (x2) with the Bonapartes and the Shadeaux, and Outstanding(x3) with the Guild. Very difficult decision. Quote
