CMP Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Exactly, the greatest moment in Heroica's history in my mind will always be witch Atramor reflecting a bullet back into U'vires' face round 1 of the battle of Dastan! I loved that. Completely short-circuited one of the most OP enemies ever. The stars must've aligned because I knew we'd have to get a Guardian Angel and I'd next have to get a Special Mirror for it to work, but it totally did. Quote
Endgame Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Pfft, he had 125 HP. Absolutely nothing when bosses are topping off at 5,000-10,000 HP these days - 2,000 back then. Quote

I loved that. Completely short-circuited one of the most OP enemies ever. The stars must've aligned because I knew we'd have to get a Guardian Angel and I'd next have to get a Special Mirror for it to work, but it totally did. That was a really great moment. Reminds me of the time on Quest 99 that Arthur got Hexed; Grimwald had to roll two Crits in a row in order to cut the puppetstring and free Arthur, otherwise everything would go to hell as a Lucky and Hastened Skirmisher would then attack two Heroes with only Advanced-level stats. Guess what happened: Round Five Of The Intruder Excluder! >Grimwald VS The Puppetstring (back): Critical Hit (8x2=16+13=29x2=58 damage) >Grimwald VS The Puppetstring (back): Critical Hit (8x2=16+13=29x2=58 damage) Hot damn. "EXECUTE COMMAND: CONFUSION()" Pfft, he had 125 HP. Absolutely nothing when bosses are topping off at 5,000-10,000 HP these days - 2,000 back then. Hero output was pitiful back then, though--Atramor, Nyx, and Cronk were I believe the strongest Heroes around, and even they didn't hit that hard. Also keep in mind, that was back in the days when Poison didn't stack and Witch's SHIELD roll was a single-target Hex (which is appalling by today's standards ). Quote

Endgame Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) Yeah, I think my comment in that 99 excerpt still speaks for itself. They couldn't be too pitiful, because there were two enemies with 1000+ HP in that battle (XX and that angry black knight fellow.) It wasn't his health. His Special, Damage, and Free Hits were all instant kills, I think. I know, but still not too bad in the grand scheme. Mirrored Drucilla in 93? That was an enemy to feared. Roll of Damage = quest fails. Instakill in general is pretty scary though, but at least he was a glass cannon - a glass cannon with a most hilarious death. Edited August 30, 2015 by Endgame Quote
CMP Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Actually, I remember now - we HAD to target him because he would've just made off with an NPC rather than free hit anyone. So we had to keep him targeted despite that fact that every roll against him was potentially the last. I forgot how crazy that last battle was. Quote

Even having re-read it recently, that whole last battle is still a blur in my mind. Too many people all talking at once, and stuff going on everywhere. As brutal and complicated as the Baltarok final battle was, everyone had at least some idea of what was going on. Quote
JimBee Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 This is probably the toughest battle I've ever been in... And it's a newbie quest. Our only hope is if Terry rolls a SHIELD. Quote

K-Nut Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Yeah, I don't think I ever faced an enemy with 100+ HP until Level 10ish. Quote
Flipz Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Going to put this out here so that more people can see it: is anyone willing to help me out with set-building for my Diana Quest and Charis Quest? Do note that one of them involves getting to build an Adult-stage Dragon. ...and I just noticed the battle title for our current fight in Q139. Subtle, Zeph. Reeeeeeal subtle. Quote
Dragonfire Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Witch is my absolute favorite class and Boris is definitely going to spend his time in it. Oddly enough, Cleric's feel like one of the easiest classes to transition to a multitude of Advanced classes aside from maybe knights, I can remember Nerwen seamlessly switching between quite a few advanced classes before she went minstrel. Personally, I think Ranger and Rogue are pretty versatile. If I ever get a second character, they're going to be a Ranger and go either Assassin or Evoker. Flipz, can you please answer my query on the last page (sorry to bother you) Edited August 31, 2015 by Dragonfire Quote
Flipz Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Flipz, do we have to wait 6 days before the Fields open? Once Karie has signed up, can we go straight away? I'd like to see 141 running a few more days just to get back into the swing of things before I jump back into the Fields, so I'll be keeping the sign-ups open until Friday (which also gives everyone who didn't make it into 141 a full week to sign up for the Fields). I will try to choose the party and get the stats together a bit quicker, though, and I'll probably post the first battle as soon as the party leader makes their decision of where to start, since I know everyone has been waiting patiently. OK, fine By that, I take it that you will pick from the six of us (rather than letting us all go in as a party) Quote

Unless you want LDD models (since honestly, I'm looking for ways to bide time til Judgment Day ), I'm afraid I can't be of help. Gonna go do my own builds of a dragon's lifesparn, because why not? Emjajoas Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 The Goliath fires a round to debilitate some of the party, but then it and Mortimer get into a high-stakes staring contest... ...and Mortimer wins. My entire Heroica career has lead up to this moment. A robot and a one-eyed mercenary walk into a bar... Quote
Mencot Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 "Double Rainbow (Gives the user the encouraged, lucky, poisoned by 1, and confused effects.)" Is this a permanent/as long as weared thing or one time? Is there anyway to alter it, so the last two effects would be removed? Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) "Double Rainbow (Gives the user the encouraged, lucky, poisoned by 1, and confused effects.)" Is this a permanent/as long as weared thing or one time? Is there anyway to alter it, so the last two effects would be removed? The Double Rainbow is a consumable giving the lucky, encouraged, and poisoned by 1 effect until the end of the battle, and the confused effect for the next three rounds. The only way to cure the last two is to either have an immunity or use a remedy. Edited September 1, 2015 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Mencot Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) Ok good, thanks WBD. That was what I wanted to know. One other question, is there any stuff that give a permanent encouraged effect? Reason for edit: Fix of mobile autoedit typo. Edited September 1, 2015 by Mencot Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) Ok good, thanks WBD. That was what I wanted to know. One other question, is there any stuff that give a peruminen encouraged effect? You're looking for a piece of equipment, best to either check the statistics page or the treasury or alternatively go for a gold gaining advanced class and stock up on Meads Edited September 1, 2015 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Ok good, thanks WBD. That was what I wanted to know. One other question, is there any stuff that give a peruminen encouraged effect? According to Statistics(Because I was curious myself), only Matthias and Lind have anything like that:Dapper Hat (This amazingly dapper hat gives the wearer a ⅙ chance of being Encouraged at the start of any battle, headwear), Invader's Armour (SP: 3, wearer is encouraged when their current health is at half or below the wearer's maximum level) From the treasury: Dress Uniform - (suitable for knights, wearer is encouraged first round of battle, bodywear, Quest 28) Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Realistically, the positive effects are something that should be out of the ordinary, you use them in dire circumstances. If everyone has positive effects it just becomes the new normal and they won't have that much of an impact. Quote
