Sandy, can you clarify whether our present characters will partake in the event, or whether you will create new characters for us to play as, like CAT?

I'm pretty sure it'll be the first, since Party Rep factors into this, in some manner...

If this starts off the "final stage," that means by the time the oft-referenced Munchkin finale happens, Heroica will be ready to start transitioning to the new stage we were planning before that was paused - and the finale would be the perfect segue into that.

This battle is ending up longer than my last boss fight, Flipz. Think about that.

I'm just trying to figure out how my other parties managed to get like 12 SHIELDs between their first fights, yet yours gets one SHIELD that utterly failed to protect you from the real danger.

I suppose he's showing his loyalty to the Wolfgang.

In any case, Pretzel has not been on many quests for any one group, so for him it's not so much as who he's siding against as who he's siding with.

Pretzel's appreciation for the houses probably goes like this:

Bonapartes

Shadeaux

Hinckwells

Guild of Invision

Ziegfrieds

Ji Pei

Of course, he only has reputation with the Shadeaux, Guild, and Wolfgang (Still not sure how CMP did that ), so I guess he will have to bit his tongue and join the Ziegfrieds as one big happy family.

I'm guessing you'll have to "choose sides" - or there's a chance it could be just a rep-only event. But I doubt that...

I feel like a lot of allegiance is going to be heavily weighted that way. Atramor is most closely aligned with the Ji Pei, so...there's one more.

Well, yeah, all the likable characters are ShadPiGuild, with the Ziegfrieds being the exception. Seriously, though, the Bonapartes have been general dicks to people (Heroes included), the Hinckwells have had a roughly even mix of dickish and non-dickish behavior towards Heroes, but that's countered by the Shadeaux's similar behavior. Meanwhile, the Guild and Ji Pei have regularly gone out of their way to treat Heroes well, with the people who've tried to criticize them generally being racist and/or anti-progress sticks in the mud. Sure, those two regularly make mistakes and go too far, but they've been shown to be genuinely good people at heart, whereas the Bonapartes have been shown to be genuine assholes at heart and the Ziegfrieds have been shown to be just plain out of touch with the rest of the world.

Honestly, on an individual rivalry scale, I feel the only one that's even remotely evenly balanced is Ziegfried-Invision, and that's mostly because they're the Houses we've seen the least of.

Important Question: Since this is seeming to be more of a status-quo shift than a singular event, does this mean that all reputation gained from here on out has to be along party lines? Because that could get a little screwy for some things, Quest planning-wise.

Everything will clear up once the "event" starts. I can say however that once you choose your side, you're going to have to stick with it. Otherwise it would be pointless.

This isn't a singular event, but rather a major change in the game, so there will be no new characters introduced.

You cannot choose sides until you've gained reputation with a faction. And even then, you might not want to lock down into a side until you've explored your options.

In other words, you will keep playing the game as you have been before this.

There will be certain perks in joining a side, though, even though you will be locked out of the other factions (except Wolfgang, they're willing to take anyone). But more about that in a few weeks.
