Pyrovisionary Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Says the oft-explored WORLD MAP: (There are exceptions, but they're primarily space-based, and all of them are official LEGO themes.) It's funny, because I don't see the LEGO licensed Oz Munchkinland Munchie Monster-munch Lind's home on that map. How odd. Quote

How odd. ...That's because the Munchkins have nothing to do with a certain WB property, as has been mentioned multiple times. It was a shout-out to the munchkin playing style...Hyperlink to the Library backstory. (Apologies that it's a bit clunky - it could do with some editing.) Quote

Lind Whisperer Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 It's because it doesn't exist. If I recall right, the entrance was supposed to be somewhere in the forest off of the Eubric/R'kilf highway... Quote
Kintobor Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) I don't know about you guys, but I kind of want Guilds of Historica and Heroica to be it's own separate things. Dr. Windus could be from a Kaliphilm-esque area, meaning Salmanda or Farzibar would be your best bet, seeing how they sort of match the desert areas of that house. I don't think we've had heroes from that area either. Also, welcome to the game, Windusky! Edited October 7, 2015 by Kintobor Quote

Lind Whisperer Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Alright, i guess i'll be from unknown since you guys aren't open minded. It's not about being "open minded" or not, it's that we all follow a specific set of rules and lore, and most of the "location" lore has already been specified. That's not to say there's no place that couldn't be called Kaliphin - you could make a small sector of the Low Kingdoms that's called that, for instance - but the Kaliphin from Guilds of Historica does not exist on Olegia*. *I suppose that Kaliphin might very well exist in the broader Heroica universe, but that's a whole 'nother matter entirely... At the end of the day, I don't think it really matters much. All it is a name in his first post. He can always change it if he feels so inclined as he moves along. Not everyone who joins has a great understanding of the world in which in Heroica exists. Edited October 7, 2015 by Palathadric Quote

Chromeknight Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Looking at your sig, part of the confusion may be that this is not an rpg for the Historica continuity found in the historic themes forum but had its genesis in the short lived heroica games and has now generated three years of backstory and internal references. It is hard coming to all that lore cold and no one wants to squash creativity or drive away keen new players. The game works best, though, when it's collaborative storytelling. Which means (as flipz the drama student will tell us) means saying yes as much as possible. So can Windus be from a place called Kaliphilm? Sure. Is it identical to the historica Kaliphilm? Nope, but that's ok. Quote

Lind Whisperer Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) *snip* So can Windus be from a place called Kaliphilm? Sure. Is it identical to the historica Kaliphilm? Nope, but that's ok. ^Agreed. From how he was setting it up, it seemed like it was in reference - which, from further responses, I believe it was - to the Historica Kaliphilm. But if it's not, then it's fine. *other responses edited out since it simply isn't worth dragging up that old fight again* *steps back and breathes* Okay, take II. Welcome to Heroica, Windusky! I'm Lind Whisperer, Black Knight, and local punch line, a fact I occasionally become mildly testy about, typically around the time of the fifth person using it in a row. I hope you have a fun time playing, and welcome to the game! Edited October 7, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Alright, i guess i'll be from unknown since you guys aren't open minded. Really, don't worry about it. Kaiphilin is a neat place and I think it fits thematically. As others have said there's no overlap between Historica and Heroica (I would love it if there was, if Historica was like a continent in the Heroica RPG world), but. there HAVE been several characters that are both in Historica and Heroica (William Harkenshire for example, if I remember that right?). I personally don't see any reason why his character can't be from Kaiphilin, or why there can't be a Kaiphilin in Heroica, considering all the other places we have made up over the years. (apparantly there is a continent called Spesiallia, there you go.) And I'm not saying all that because I am technically part of Historica's Kaiphilin. And I can call it Kaiphilin instead of Kaliphin because it's an impossible word in any language. Quote

Do you really think i don't know what Heroica is? I didn't think "Oh look, it's an RPG for Historica!" I'll have you know, when it was in stores, I really wanteda Heroica game. I don't feel the most welcomed right now. The reason why i chose Kaliphlin, was because i had seen another Heroica player who had chosen that as their homeland. Quote

Pyrovisionary Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) Welcome to the game Windusky! We tend to get over full of ourselves and seriously overthink things at times for no apparent reason. Good to see a new player who is seasoned in the ways of Eurobricks. I think I originally built my character as a figbarf for a Mitgardian ship captain. Edited October 7, 2015 by Pyrovisionary Quote

If I've offended you, I'm sorry. I was merely going from what you have written in your signature. If what's there is a mistype rather than honest confusion, that's fine. I was suggesting above that you could be from Kaliphilm if you wanted. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Well, thanks, but to prevent further feuds with Lind Whisperer and a few others, i think my character will just be from nowhere. If you want your character to be from a desert area, there is the continent of Abra, which is a place home to all sort of your usual desert fantasy tropes (hidden tombs, lost cities, mummies, tribal slavers, you name it). It's basically a big sand pit with various city states at the edges, along with an even worse desert that's been taken over by demons. My character is from there, for example. Quote

There's no feud, Windy, I'm/we're just trying to help you match your character to the game lore. Scubacarrot gave a good suggestion(see above), but your character's final backstory is up to you - it just has to fit the Heroica world. Edited October 7, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote
halixon Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I'm going with no-where. I chose Kaliphlin specifically because it's Kaliphlin, not just because i wanted to live in a desert region. Quote
