Jeez, people--and you wonder why there's a shortage of Quests? :hmpf:

The curative portion of this community has gotten really overbearing as of late, leaving fewer and fewer members of the transformative portion of the community to keep making new ideas. Heroica is a game, so by its very nature it's transformative and inherently focused on change. Is continuity important? Sure, but never at the cost of fun.

Explanation of the terms "curative" and "transformative" as I'm using them here.

...Says the person whose protests against it were the reason that the Dodekube's been mostly dropped... :hmpf:

Granted, that was slightly different - but not all that much. Either we stick to creating lore that works for other players, or we have the freedom to create our own lore, just so long as it doesn't directly violate in-game canon.

I don't know if this strokes with your argument Flipz, and I'm sure I'm oftentimes guilty of being very curative, but there's something lately that I've been really noticing. People take things seriously around Heroica. And I think that sometimes catches people off guard (especially Sandy, I think). Take for example the recent Factions. If you wouldn't take it so seriously. your character could just join a house and fight against the others who cares what for effects on my character in the long run will be. It makes sense to be serious sometimes and want to do what is best for the character considering a lot of us have been playing the character for literally years, but that comes at the cost of a great concept called frivolity, which I am a big fan of, but probably not a great facilitator. A good example of this I think (it's been two years now, but still) is Cruel' Angel's Thesis. Sandy expected people just to do whatever, but people got really into it and tried really hard to win, (which is logical, as it is mafia, and mafia is a life choice).

Basically the argument I am making, we are too invested, somehow. :look: I am unsure, but I think sometimes people shouldn't be a stickler for established Heroica lore. :classic: Does that make sense?

One of the things about us as a community is that we don't know when to shut up. And that's coming from me.

Could we all cut back on the snide remarks please? Because unlike in real life this time we're all the sarcastic one.

I'm just here to kill stuff then make monsters for other people to kill.

Welcome to the game, Windusky, regardless of all of this lore stuff. We've been suffering a serious drought (because a lot of the more prolific QMs have been occupied/are are hosting quests at the moment), but I there'll be new quests up before long. As it stands now, though, there's a few great personalities in the hall you could chat with.

I don't think writing "Kaliphin" as a "state of origin" or whatever, plays any major part in...well...anything. Granted if Windusky starts trying to rewrite the map, then that would be a problem, but otherwise Kaliphin could be anywhere.

It's different if you're going to be talking about dodecube in every other post is different. :poke:

There's a clear difference there, and you know it.

I think that's a fair statement. A lot of us have been playing these characters for years now. There's bound to be some investment, and that naturally leads to emotional response.

I do miss some of the new QM's, I understand it's a huge undertaking, but it's amazing the content that fresh QM's can breathe into the world. There's a ton of points just waiting to be expanded upon in the world of Heroica RPG and I think sometimes we're too distracted trying to carve our little corner of the world that we forget that the game grows better when people grow it together. :classic:

Is it really a drought if there are 8 quests currently going on? That said, I'm working on something. Don't get your hopes up.

Sign Skrall up, 3rd time's a charm right? :tongue::laugh:

I'd have something up now, but my personal life is just too complicated to devote the time to it...

 You can learn a lot from the older players in this game - even the middle-length players.

Hey, I'll have you know one of my quests was actually finished. Also, you're adorable for still being brave enough to give it a shot.

The last quest to start was in late August, and now we're a week into October. Five weeks is a lot more than the norm, I think.

Oh, come on, I understand Sorrow, but Terry ain't that bad. :poke:

He hasn't revealed that he's actually Universus, Immortalis's great uncle, yet.

Good times! Good times! We've grown since then...

In truth, I would love to sign up for a quest from you, even if it never finishes. :sweet:

I still need to get Duplovia finished at some point.

We certainly take this game far to seriously, examples including us currently analysing ourselves and discussing the factions mechanically irrelevent ideologies.

But then again it is this dedication that leads to such good quests. :sweet:

That's fair. I know part of my problem with the factions was that it throws many of my usual QM tactics to entice people to come on my Quests (that is, reputation) into a lurch, after the months and months of planning. Throw that on top of the overinvestment in my character (which made the event read to me at the time as a gigantic "if you're invested on both sides of this you're playing your character wrong and are going to be excluded from the rest of Heroica" when it obviously wasn't personally directed at me at all), and you've got a recipe for mass emotional overreaction.

Well, Palathadric's proven he's more than capable of running battles (seriously, sir, good job  ), so there's at least one never-before-seen QM who I'm certain is up to the task...

He hasn't revealed that he's actually Universus, Immortalis's great uncle, yet.

Terry Universe...I would accept this reference. :poke:

PMs. Nao. :poke:

Thank you! :sweet:

And yes, if any QMs have battles to run. I don't mind crunching numbers. I've having a harder time injecting life into my pretty much fully prepared quest. :look: Not sure, maybe I'll just send the pitch to Sandy and then let things go as they come. I've always been better at improv...sort of...and I think it will be difficult to get further than I have with the battles without knowing my party beforehand. :sceptic:
