KotZ Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I can understand selling to undecided PCs as a way to swing those on the fence to a side. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 In an instant, all semblance of sloth is gone, as Miirym is at her feet and at Arthur's side, spewing smoke. Arthur grips his stag antlers, ready to draw the weapon if necessary but hoping it wouldn't come to that. "The last time I played with a god, I had a very different view of the world...one not too far from your own. I don't need Heroica to hide behind--if you recall, I left. I don't have the Veterans' protection--you kill me, I stay dead. So if you think I'm just some dangerous lunatic, if you want to--what was the words you used?--'stab your friends in the back', you're not going to get a better opportunity. Alone on an airship, miles above the ocean, just a handful of witnesses barely strong enough to even scratch you, let alone stop you. But if you're not intending to kill me like you're intending to kill our employer's ally, I suggest you stand the Hel down," Arthur warns intimidatingly. Go Arthur! Quote
Endgame Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 No, dammit, stop getting into 1v1! It's the only way Arthur is gonna die. Quote
Flipz Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 (edited) No, dammit, stop getting into 1v1! It's the only way Arthur is gonna die. I mean, if the other party members want to stand back and let one of their party members straight-up murder another one of their party members, that's their choice. Or, they could take a stand and make Hoke have to turn on the whole party to be able to kill Arthur, kinda taking the sting out of Hoke's argument. Edited October 12, 2015 by Flipz Quote

If they don't, though, and Hoke doesn't back down, Arthur's really going to be fighting to the death? Darn it, Flipz, quit trying to kill off one of Heroica's most beloved characters! Quote

Darn it, Flipz, quit trying to kill off one of Heroica's most beloved characters! You mean Hoke? I'm quite enjoying the dialog actually. Skrall would probably side with Hoke on the issue where it concerns the old-gods, but I can see how Arthur views it more as an entire viewpoint as opposed to a single position. Quote

Oh, it's great dialog, Flipz just keeps trying to kill off Arthur. Lind would be with Hoke in that he definitely wouldn't be pro-messing-around-with-immortal-beings-called-Old-Gods-that-he-knows-nothing-about*, but he'd be with Arthur in that he wouldn't be straight-up talking/thinking/planning about going and killing Guffington's friend. *It's different than pledging allegiance to Immortalis. Allegiance to Immortalis = Allegiance to a greater being he's actually seen doing something for the greater good. Messing around with beings called Old Gods...there's just no way that's going to turn out well... Edited October 12, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote

Zepher Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I want to respond, but I haven't had the time yet. Coming shortly! (And 139 West, you guys too!) Quote

The whole 'throwing Arthur overboard" is just a tongue-in-cheek thought, like mentally punching someone in the face when they're being dumb/you are frustrated with them. But now, it might not be so tongue-in-cheek. Quote
The Legonater Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I'm loving that the East party is getting into all these tense conflicts while the West is just hanging out, visiting old friends and having a fun time. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 When presented with the chance to retrieve a book of lost tales from the bottom of the sea, he did so. That same tome has returned Hybros' people back to Olegaia. Much evil can be brought about by foolish dangerous endeavors, but much good can be done too. ..."...It might just be POV, but, uh...shouldn't giving an entire race of mischief-making creatures the ability to cross into this realm fall under the evil category? Sure, Hybros is good...but so are most heroes, give or take. Not necessarily the imps as a race... Quote

Zepher Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 To all the many quests that I am on/hosting right now: I am on vacation this week! It hasn't proven an issue at all so far, but it's possible that internet may be sort of touch and go for me from time to time. So just be warned! Quote

On a similar note, I'll have a few busy days this week as well (including today!), so expect a few update-less days from me as well (and feel free to move 139 forward without me, Zeph ). Quote

Sure, Hybros is good...but so are most heroes, give or take. Not necessarily the imps as a race... Who said they were mischievous? In the limited canon for them, I don't think that was implied. That being said, I can see how limited the canon really is. There's only so much you can do to characterize an entire race with one PC... I really need to get back to hosting. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Who said they were mischievous? In the limited canon for them, I don't think that was implied. That's why I was asking. Typically, little bright red imp-like creatures are evil, and typically imps are "mischievous" - or malevolent, might be a better word. With the way that Heroica both subverts and upholds tropes, I was wondering which way it went. Quote

Just like most other heroes. Quote
