Endgame Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) Although I agree on principle, while all undead are evil/all dwarves have one overlord affects virtually every character of that specieis, dragons having a common ancestor really doesn't in most scenarios. He isnt a leader figure, so why would they know/care? The only thing realy prohibited by having a Father of Dragons is that there can't be more than one Father of Dragons, which is usually the same for all NPCs of (insert position here.) Also, the ideas for Immortalis and his past are largely not based on my own creations. Edited December 9, 2015 by Endgame Quote
CMP Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 You're missing the point. It's not the logic of justifying it, it's the fact that it's presumptuous to give your own NPCs these all-important titles that can't ever be disputed in the future. Also, the ideas for Immortalis and his past are largely not based on my own creations. But they are your creations, so... It'd be like saying one of my NPCs invented necromancy, for a more accurate comparison. Quote

If Endgame was a newbie QM, it would be appropriate, but he isn't - Endgame's been one of the most active, and most-loved QMs of the entire game. Quote

Scubacarrot Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I think this comes back to something that has been discussed before. Surely that guy could name himself father of dragons, other dragons could call him father of dragons, but that doesn't mean that all dragons in this game have to call him the father of dragons or even acknowledge him. The Heroica world is very much a place of tales and magic. We've seen other worlds, timetravel and alternate realities, who knows what is true and what isn't. This is doubly true for dragons, where there is absolutely no unified consensus about growth, intelligence etc, which in the game results that very little is certain knowledge about them! Quote

Flipz Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) Keliim the Cruel. Ironwood Club. A large piece of a rare grey tree, it seems less carved from a chunk of wood, than found and then merely improved. The grip is wound with red leather. The weapon's power is 14, and has a 1/6 chance to petrify the target. Club. No. Blasted 1/6 Petrified axe was enough of a nightmare the last time I had to host it, let's not multiply it. In other news, I just woke up from a Heroica dream! I was reading the QM Lounge comments about a Quest hosted by The Chosen Minifigure featuring Throlar, Boomingham, and William Harkenshire; apparently William had gone on this massive roleplaying kick, culminating in a moment where he had to choose between killing Throlar or Barty (I'll keep to myself which one he actually decided to kill). People kept comparing the Quest favorably to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and I felt so bad about not following the Quest closely that it woke me up. EDIT: I accidentally a word. Stupid mobile... Edited December 9, 2015 by Flipz Quote

-obelix- Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 A simple note is placed on the Quest Board, seemingly ripped out of a journal. Chosen Heroes for Quest #144: The Pen is Mightier than the Sword -Ellaria Arbour, Level 34.5 Alchemist (Sandy) -Nerwen Calmacil, Level 39 Minstrel (Chromeknight) -En Sabah Nur, Level 32.75 Beast Warrior (Jedediah) -Skrall, Level 43 Hunter (WaterbrickDown) -Thalion Dwindles, Level 32 Mystic Knight (-obelix-) Quest is going to go up within a few days. I've been bogged down with OOG stuff and I need to get some things built still. Thalion doesn't dwindle! In fact, I aim for him to grow stronger and stronger! Hi everyone! I've kind of been swamped with OOG stuff (work and master studies) so I haven't been around for a while, but things have stabilized now and I cant wait to get back on to questing... P.S. I'll try to catch up with non #144 related stuff as soon as I have more free time. Quote
Kintobor Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 P.S. I'll try to catch up with non #144 related stuff as soon as I have more free time. Well the quest isn't up yet, so take some time. It'll be up either tonight or tomorrow, I wound up getting a little preoccupied today but I promise the quest will be up before the weekend. Quote
Zepher Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I think this is the first time heroes may fail a quest of mine without having made the explicit choice. Makes me really bummed. Quote

Yeah, I'll have a lot to say too. It's the most frustrated I've been hosting in a year or two. I've already written like two sort of "essays" but I decided not to post them until it's a better time. Basically it boils down to people sometimes confusing "give the characters options" with "let me do what I want now". It reminds me most of questing alongside Tholar before he evened out. Quote

It reminds me most of questing alongside Tholar before he evened out. I'm running into that in #143. Lind's honest reaction is, "Well, I hired on to get the Leaf for Gabriel, so I don't want to violate that contract, but there's nothing preventing me from afterwards going off on a wild Leaf chase with Flame Head Guy for more Leaf."I don't want to give Endgame too much of a headache, but neither do I want to break character... There's a point where you just have to go with it and you can do so without breaking character. Does Lind really think that searching out more trees that were clearly stated to be out of reach is the only solution? The QM is obviously steering you to solve the issue at hand. Quote

So you're saying attacking the insane murderer was too much ' I do what I want', and less 'follow the quest'? You never once made it clear that allying with Zane was the only option. Sure, you pushed to it. But it's a ridiculous option. He threatened us and straight out told us he would abuse whatever he got from the cooperation. Maybe if all of us knew the character, it would make sense, but they don't. He's volatile and crazy, and his court just mostly wants to kill things, especially Medusa. I really thought there was another way to make it work. If that failed us the quest, I'm very sorry, Legonater, especially. Edited December 10, 2015 by Scubacarrot Quote
