UsernameMDM Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) You think FUBAR came from saving private ryan? That's just adorable. That's when it mainstreamed for sure. EDIT - I know the term did not originate in a movie, but since Zepher said he heard it for the first time on a show and is a film major, one would think he would have heard it in Saving Private Ryan. The Legonater Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I'm with MDM on this, it absolutely popularized the term. Quote
Kintobor Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Updates will arrive shortly. I'm currently building the Morro Dragon Attack set thing because it was on clearance for over 50%. Quote
Flipz Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) Arthur made need to take that advice AGAIN. Summoning Amarcolm, a chaomancer, to a battle with unknown consequences. Yeah, that's going to turn out well. He promised to help us if Arthur pays him. You'd rather we NOT have another NPC on our side, in a Zepher-level boss battle? Especially one you don't have to particularly care if they live or die? Edited February 17, 2016 by Flipz Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 You're a film major and have never seen/payed attention to SAVING PRIVATE RYAN??? I've never actually seen that film, sans a few snips from music videos... Quote
StickFig Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I'm with MDM on this, it absolutely popularized the term. Yeah, it popularized it in the late 1990s... but it's in the film because it has been popular since (at least) the 1940s, at least in (English-speaking) militaries of the world. Quote
Endgame Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 And the dice fall in PPurpearl's favor. Zepher, I apologize for saying I'd continue running stuff and then stopping, but things came up. Hopefully I'll be able to help more consistently, especially when y'all finally get that final battle started. Quote
The Legonater Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 "Great." Amarcolm takes the gold. "Let's see where I fall in all of this." He flips the coin and looks at Arthur as it flies through the air. "Call it." Great, Zeph has re-created Two-Face. Quote
Zepher Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 How could he be a chapman we if he didn't subscribe to chaos! Chaomancer, not "chapman we", gotta love autocorrect. Quote
Chromeknight Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 How could he be a chapman we if he didn't subscribe to chaos! Chaomancer, not "chapman we", gotta love autocorrect. A coin toss isn't chaotic. It's result is in principle knowable from a small set of well defined intial conditions. - weight and shape of coin, intial force vector and distance to path terminus. Yes, knowing the values of those conditions is difficult in practice, but it's not a chaotic system where there is such sensitivity to intial conditions that predicting an outcome is not possible even in principle. Besides, the coin is going to come up heads or tails, one or the other. It's not like it could come up heads, tails, edge, duck, C sharp or Tuesday. If he can flip a coin in such a way to have it come up Tuesday, then he's a chaomancer... Quote
Flipz Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Well that round went poorly. I could have sworn you guys healed up before going after Amber...? Quote

Or at least something, so we can get this final battle rolling. Quote

CMP Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Trump? I thought he was voting for where to grab dinner. Quote
Zepher Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Nope, just me having poor reading skills. I totally missed that post, my bad! Quote
Flipz Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Well, there's a blast from the past! I figured if you're going to go to all the effort of bringing back the old faces, I'd go to all the effort of rearranging everyone's equipment. (Well, okay, this time I mostly only lent my own stuff, but it's the principle of the thing. ) By the way, for everyone else's reference: Attack rolls/job traits for City Watch Guards. Quote

Flipz Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I think that Aqua Gear was Dyric's, actually. I seem to remember assigning it to Hans amidst the massive gear switch-up towards the end of 53. Artisans are an absolute joy to minmax for, by the way, at least when it comes to NPC allies; their ability to wear whatever they want lets you throw all kinds of stuff on them and it actually be useful, without any PCs having to gimp their own builds to do so. (PC Artisans are a lot harder to minmax for, since they tend to rub up against their Artifact cap too quickly and tend to have their own incredibly intricate builds going already.) Quote
The Legonater Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 It was absolutely Dyric's. I'd forgotten where that had gotten to. Quote
Kintobor Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Updates for both party's tomorrow. I wound up getting sidetracked with some things. Sorry, guys. Quote
