dum Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Welcome 1crabguy! Is this the first grumpkin player character? Hyped. P.S. Late welcome to Timothy. Quote
Flipz Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Not the first, but the first who's still present; Grumpkins were actually a player-created race (one of the Heroes Arthur Quested with on Quest 17 was a Grumpkin), but the player in question soon left, and various QMs have picked up and used the race a little bit since then. Regardless, welcome everyone! Hopefully we can get another Quest on the board for you guys soon. Quote
Enceladus Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 It is all good. More clerics = Welcome to the game and well done for picking the right class Rider Raider! Welcome to the game 1crabguy as well! Welcome, 1crabguy! Finally, a grumpkin hero! We've had at least on Grumpkin hero before: Spag Bitterstalk, Level 1 Barbarian (Kenghis Ghan) Power: 4 Health: 8/8 Gold: 0 Inventory: Crude Splinterwood Club (WP: 3) Potion, Mead (2) (But he was retired a long time ago) Quote
Asphalt Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Clerics are the glue that holds sword and sorcery together. Quote
Enceladus Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Clerics are the glue that holds sword and sorcery together. Can celrics even wield swords? On a similar note what are peoples thoughts on the Nimbus broomstick: Nimbus Broomstick (WP:8, 1/2 chance to double damage/healing output on successful attack; Broomstick) Is it a potent enough weapon to make a build around, or should I try looking for another weapon to complment it? Quote
Asphalt Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 They are the bridge and Glue BETWEEN sword and sorcery. Sounds like a weapon Vindsval would have loved to have early on. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Welcome to all our new players! Sorry you just missed out on an starter quest, though I'm sure there will be another one available shortly given how simple new characters are for hosting. I generally discourage builds centered around an entire weapon, gear is more common, but the broomstick itself is probably a fine piece of equipment. It's essentially a Mead that works for healing as well with a 50/50 chance which is honestly not bad odds. Not to mention it stacks with things like elements and encouraged so you really have a good shot of dealing a fair amount of damage. Quote
Pedguin Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Speaking of starter quests, when 145 is done I am going to attempt to do what no man has done before... Host a quest as soon as humanly possible! I have been studying for a while (In hindsight, I probably should have studied for my exams first), and I think I can pull it off. If so, look foreword to Quest ???, Shopping Spree! Sham Poo needs some help gathering rare objects, so he hired heroes to go around the world and get a sh*t ton of rare and expensive items (Some of which the heroes may "accidentally" keep for themselves) within a 10,000 gold budget, while also gambling and drinking around the world. Who knows, they may even run into corruption deep in the most influential cities... Quote

It's typically best to keep a first quest on the smaller side of things - if things go wrong (and believe me, they will go wrong), it's easier to fix.Welcome, Wolfwind, Timmy, and Stump! Always nice to see new players. Quote

I would look for an extra weapon(s). Just in case, plus some things might have immunes to elements. Of course I would up grade the Nimbus a little (over time). Quote
Flipz Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 You know, I never really noticed before, but mechanically Torald and Ezeran make a really good pair. Torald can Weaken enemies so Ezeran takes less damage from them or make them Fragile so his spells hit harder, while Ezeran makes sure that any enemy's Free Hit against him is the last they'll ever deal, so he and Torald can eventually focus down the enemies one at a time. With even just a tiny bit more SP, Ezeran would make a killer tank. Quote
StickFig Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) Dunno if we'll ever see another Minstrel, it seems like faction rep has gone out of fashion recently. That said, I do have two Quests in the works offering rep, if I can ever get the sets finished... It better mean some freaking Wolfgang rep. Wolfgang? Anyone can go Wolfgang. What we really need is BlownApart rep, so Matthias can become Heroica's first PC cannoneer! Nice flavor the Grumpkin The Smaller-Than-What-You-Might-Think-Of-As-Humans Alliance (STWYMTOAHA) strongly objects to this kind of talk! Fish are friends, not food! Pedguin Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Also, Welcome, 1crabguy! You need to resize your image to 100x100, though. Quote

Yet another reason for them to continue being such great friends. I'm really happy to be able to incorporate the symbiont through some mechanics, it really adds some flavour to the gameplay! We'll see where Ezeran will end upp class-wise... Quote
MysticModulus Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Ezeran should go for sage. We'll see how he evolves from now on... Quote
Asphalt Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Crabguy, you really need to reduce your signature pic. Quote

Endgame Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 For those on standby in 147 sidequests, hopefully just a day or two more before we finish Act 1 (of 3) for Judgment Day. Quote
samurai-turtle Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Crabguy, you really need to reduce your signature pic. What about Kappy? Their pic looks little big to me. Quote
Enceladus Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Shortly after the dwarf left the hall, a large unknown steel figure walks into the hall. The noises of cogs and gears turning can be heard with each steps it takes, practically knocking stools over due to his size. He does not acknowledge that. He finds an open area to stand at. Here is a full-scale picture, full credit to Oky for letting me use this: Its captain Metalbeard! Seriously though, that is quite a cool build! Quote
samurai-turtle Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Does Kappy have a signature picture? Sorry, I am using a cell phone so, I was looking at their status post. Quote
